Chapter 183: That Is Exactly What Happens

Au’dtair looked at the female lying on the floor in front of him and quickly rushed in to pick her up. Bringing her over to her nest instead of the bed, he gently laid her down and turned to look at the male coming up beside him.

"Make sure to keep her warm," he growled to Midnight, not really caring if he was coming off offensive or not. This was about looking after her and nothing else. The Njeriuujk simply grunted and climbed in under the furs, pulling the mate on top of him. She let out a half-hearted protest but quickly settled down, her cheek resting on his chest.

"Ye’tab?" growled Au’dtair as he pulled up her favorite white fur until it completely covered her. Making sure that she stayed warm was done. What was the next thing that they needed to do?

"I don’t know," clicked the other male, furiously scrolling through the information that the AI sent him. "Most of the information is conflicting. Some places use a frozen dessert called ice cream to make things better, but other places say that she should not consume anything cold because that is going to make the pain worse."

"Really not helpful," said Da’kea, becoming more and more frustrated. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

A snort of laughter came from the nest, and the three males spun around to look at their mate. "It’s fine," she said with a yawn. Just let me sleep for a while, and then I will figure out what I am craving."

"You sure, Stardust?" asked Midnight, gently petting her hair. "Don’t hold back; whatever you want, we can get it for you."

Mei Xing peeled open one eye to look at the Njeriuujk. "I’m good, really. Your body heat helps a lot. But if you can replace the white fur with something else?"

"Do you not like it anymore?" asked Au’dtair. It was the first fur that she had ever received, and it was given to her by him. It was a massive source of pride for him to have been able to supply her with something she so obviously loved, so if she no longer liked it, he would need to go out and replace it with something else that she did.

"Love it," she said with a groan. Curling herself into a ball, she looked at the male. "But that’s the problem, it’s my favorite, and it’s white. Not something that I want to have around for Shark Week. I don’t want to ruin it."

"Understood," said Au’dtair. He let out a sigh of relief that it wasn’t that she didn’t like it but that she didn’t want to ruin it. Carefully removing it, he let Ye’tab replace it with the black fur he had given her before.

The four males waited until they heard her breathing even out before they let out a collective sigh. This species of pet was truly hard to look after, especially with spontaneous bleeding from the females every month.

------

I woke up surrounded by heat and feeling much better than I had yesterday. I was not a big fan of surprises, and that one was a big one. I stretched my limbs and let out a giant yawn.

Crawling over Midnight, I was surprised to see Da’kea on his other side. Seeing GA and Ye’tab on the other side, I couldn’t hold back my grin. This was the first time that everyone was sleeping in my nest, and I really didn’t hate it. Trying to avoid waking up any of them, I crawled down to the bottom and got out that way.

Entering the bathroom, I quickly changed what needed to be changed and jumped into the shower. Feeling much more human and ready to take on the day, I quickly popped a Mydol and left the room. Letting out another yawn, I went to my closet and found a pair of flannel pajamas, a giant sweater, and warm fuzzy socks. These ones had the most adorable foxes on them that I couldn’t help but smile.

"What do you think you are doing?" growled a voice coming up behind me. I turned around to see Da’kea coming toward me, quickly followed by the other three.

"Getting dressed?" I asked, a confused look on my face.

"You are still bleeding," clicked the Saalistaja, his tusks moving in a clear sign of agitation.

"I am," I answered. "But that doesn’t mean that things stop happening."

"Like what?" asked Midnight. I remembered him being my own personal heating blanket last night, and I smiled at him.

"First breakfast, I am starving. Then, I am going to figure out how to contact the Hive to see if we can get them on our side. After that, I want to look over the video that Pippa told us about. I think that there is a way I can use that in my favor. And finally, I am going to sink into the biggest slice of chocolate cake I can find," I said, ticking off the things on my To Do list today.

"But you are still bleeding," said Da’kea for the second time, like that was something important.

"And? It’s not like the world stops because I am on my period; there is still a carp ton of things to do," I replied, shrugging my shoulders. I went to the hatch and waited for it to slide open. With how much my stomach was growling, I was surprised that the rest of them couldn’t hear it. I wondered if I could have chocolate cake for breakfast, but the idea of waffles and maple syrup was winning out.

Leaving the men behind, I walked down the corridor to the cafeteria on my floor and sat down at my regular table.

"Are you sure that you are okay?" asked Ye’tab, taking the chair next to me and sitting down.

"Fine," I answered with a shrug of my shoulders. "Back on Earth, it is expected that you maintain your regular schedule, even if you are on your period. This means that you still have to go to work or school, even if it feels like your insides are being ripped out."

"From what I have read, that is exactly what happens," muttered the cute Saalistaja as the other three men joined us. I put in my order for both waffles and chocolate cake and waited for it to be delivered.
