Chapter 182: It’s Your Death

I looked at the male, trying to understand what he was saying. What assassin?

Jun Li let out a very put-out sigh that caused me to laugh. "He thinks you are injured because he can smell blood, and you are obviously in pain. I just wanted to ask what your next move was," said the AI. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Clearly, the video is fake, but it can be used to our advantage," I said with a slight groan as another cramp hit. I knew I wanted to use the video, but for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how at the moment. "I can’t do this right now," I grumbled as I shot out of bed and into the bathroom as the cries of alarm could be heard from the guys.

I slammed my hand over the keypad, effectively locking everyone out while I lay down on the cold floor of the bathroom.

I knew that there were a hundred things that I needed to concentrate on, but until this pain had passed, I was completely helpless.

This had been my life back on Earth, needing to take almost a week off from school or work because the pain was just too much to bear.

I would have to admit that there is some relief, even amongst all the pain. I was worried that the Sisalik had taken my womb and eggs like they had done with the others. Since I hadn’t had a period for six years, it seemed a valid concern.

But at this exact moment, I was kind of wishing that they did.

Closing my eyes, I fell asleep to the banging of my mates on the bathroom door, trying to get in.

------

"What the fuck is happening?" demanded Midnight as he paced back and forth outside of the cleansing room. The smell of blood was only getting stronger, and it was causing him to go out of control.

The hunters weren’t much better, but their instincts drove them the opposite way. Instead of pacing back and forth in agitation, they turned completely still, their mouths open to breathe in the scent of blood. They look like a zmaj just waiting to strike its prey.

Midnight let out a low warning growl; his eyes fixated on the other males.

"I don’t know," said Ye’tab after a long pause. "It couldn’t have been the Hive. They are incapable of becoming invisible. We would have seen them before the strike."

"Could it have been another Saalistaja then?" demanded Midnight, returning to his pacing. He hated being locked away from his mate, especially when she was hurting. Everything inside of him screamed to rip the hatch open and get to her.

"It’s possible," muttered Da’Kea, "But not probable. Most would assume that she wouldn’t make a worthy prey and just ignore her."

"Then what the fuck happened to her?!?" roared Midnight. He frantically looked around the room to find something, anything to smash... but this was his mate’s place of comfort, and he refused to damage anything in his rage.

"Have you noticed that while it smells like blood, it also doesn’t smell normal?" mused Au’dtair, getting closer to the locked hatch to try and get a better scent. "It is almost richer... more..." He paused, not knowing the word he was looking for.

"She is menstruating," answered Jun Li with a sigh. "It is completely normal."

"No way, in the Dark Lord’s domain, is that normal," snarled Midnight, spinning around to stalk the body of the AI in front of him. "That much blood, that much pain, is not normal!"

"For her, it is," shrugged Jun Li like it wasn’t that big of a deal. "Apparently, once a month, all human females experience bleeding and pain as the inner lining of their uterus sheds and is discarded."

"No," stated Da’kea, going to stand beside Midnight. He didn’t want the other male to attack the android, even though it was more than warranted. "Any egg that has not been fertilized will simply be reabsorbed into the body. There is no bleeding or pain; in fact, most females don’t even know it is occurring."

"Well, that is not the case here," huffed Jun Li, not really understanding what the big deal was. Like he said, this was completely normal for her species, and if they were going to freak out like this every 28 days, he would have to lock them away or something.

"At least it is only for a day," said Midnight, cracking his neck back and forth in an agitated manner.

"This will last for seven days," disagreed Jun Li, "But from the information I have read, it is only the first three days that seem to be the worst."

"Could you send me a copy of the info?" asked Ye’tab, turning his head to look at the android. "I would like to look up how to best help her."

"Of course, but if I may make a suggestion, ice cream, heat, chocolates, and movies seem to be the most common suggestions for dealing with the pain," shrugged Jun Li, and there was a beep on Ye’tab’s wrist unit as the information was transferred.

"And you said that this will go on seven days?" confirmed Au’dtair. He looked around the room and saw the same look of concern mirrored on the faces of the males around him.

"More or less," shrugged the android.

Au’dtair was considering stabbing him with a knife so he could slowly bleed out. However, seeing as he couldn’t feel pain, or bleed for that matter, it was pretty much pointless.

He went up to the hatch and turned to look at the android. "Open it," he growled, no longer playing around. His mate was not going to be lying on the floor for the next seven days, that was for damn sure.

"She locked it for a reason," pointed out the AI, crossing his arms across his chest.

"And I am asking you to open it for a reason," shot back the Saalistaja, no longer playing around.

"Fine, it’s your death," shrugged Jun Li as the door opened, revealing Mei Xing sleeping on the floor.
