Chapter 42: So Much Treaures!!!

[Jk: Why did the whale blush?]

After Lucille left, Andrew stood alone in the cave, the echoes of her footsteps fading into the distance. The air was thick with the scent of blood, mashed brain matter and barbecued human and rat flesh.

At that moment, asoft chime echoed in his mind, and a translucent blue screen materialized before his eyes.

[Mission Completed!]

↳ Slay the Gray Rat King

↳ Hidden Mission: Save the Captured Children

Andrew felt a surge of satisfaction as he read the notification. Without hesitation, he mentally accepted the rewards, eager to see what the system would grant him for his efforts.

[Rewards Obtained]

↳ +100 (Max) Reputation Points

↳ 2 Black-Iron Treasure Chests

↳ 1 Silver Treasure Chest

↳ 1 Black-Iron Armor

↳ 1 Silver Armor

↳ 1 Black-Iron-Grade Necklace

↳ 1 Silver-Grade Weapon (Spear)

He had already given these rewards to Lucille so he couldn’t materialize it.

Before Andrew could fully examine his rewards, a series of announcements echoed across the heavens, their booming voice reverberating through the cave walls and likely across the entire Beginner Village area.

[World Announcement]

↳ Arian and his party have successfully slain the first Elite Boss in Beginner Village.

[World Announcement]

↳ Arian and his party have successfully slain the first Elite Boss in Beginner Village.

[World Announcement]

↳ Arian and his party have successfully slain the first Elite Boss in Beginner Village.

The announcement repeated nine times.

Andrew’s expression darkened as he listened. Arian was still alive. It seemed his sponsor had indeed resurrected him, as he had suspected. The thought irritated him, but there was nothing he could do about it now.

’Doesn’t matter,’ Andrew thought to himself. I just need to kill him anytime I see him. Let’s see if his sponsors will bother with him after kill him 10 times. And if 10 doesn’t work, the 20 times. If 20 doesn’t work than 100!

Andrew was the type to hold grudges for the smallest insult. He might not react immediately but he definitely won’t let himself suffer grievances especially after reaching this point.

Before he could dwell on it further, another notification appeared.

[Investment Return Triggered]

↳ Target: Lucille

↳ Investment Reward Multiplier Activated

↳ Return Rate: 3,999×

↳ Gift: 2 Black-Iron Chests, 2 Black-Iron-Grade Weapons, 1 Silver Armor, 1 Silver Spear, 1000 Manachips.

[Do you wish to receive rewards directly or turn it to Investment points?]

Andrew blinked his eyes in surprise, then let out a chuckle that echoed through the empty cave. The return from his investment in Lucille had finally triggered.

Suddenly, he frowned. "Come on system, what about the 100 Magic castle, 100 Gachapon gifts and the golden ticket and credits I gave her?"

The system responded in text.

[Investment Multiplier System: System can not multiply or upgrade intangible items.]

Andrew’s eyes widened in shock. Did he just give that girl all those valuable items for free? His frown deepened as he felt a twinge of frustration.

"How come you can upgrade talents then?" he asked with irritation.

The system’s response was immediate, as if it had been waiting for this exact question.

[Investment Multiplier System: Talent is energy, energy is matter. Golden tickets, credits, magic castle and Gachapon are simple digital currency deemed important by agreement of the mass. Not tangible.]

Andrew rolled his eyes at the explanation, though he supposed it made some sense in the twisted logic of the system. Talents were innate abilities, manifestations of a player’s potential and energy.

Still, it stung a little to know he had essentially given away a fortune for nothing in return. With a sigh, he made his decision.

"Receive rewards," he said, his voice flat.

The system chimed in response, and the golden border of the notification pulsed brightly before transforming into a cascade of new items that materialized before him.

[3,999x Multiplier Complete]

↳ 2 Gold-Grade Treasure Chests

↳ 2 Gold-Grade Weapons

↳ 1 Legendary Grade Armor

↳ 1 Legendary Grade Spear

↳ 1,000 Super Mana Chips

Andrew’s eyes widened and his smile stretched past his cheek as he grinned evilly.

The armor and the spear were very impressive.

He reached out first for the armor, and as his fingers made contact, a detailed description flooded his mind.

[Name: Heavenbreaker Warplate]

[Information: Armor once worn by a legendary general who slaughtered countless enemies upon the battlefield. Its presence alone causes weaker foes to tremble.]

3. Last Bastion — Upon receiving a fatal strike, survive with 1 HP once every 24 hours.

"Fucking Op!" Andrew whispered as he traced his fingers over the smooth surface of the armor. An everyday one time protection against fatal strike was rough to call the armor op Indeed.

He didn’t hesitate and equiped the armor.

The moment the armor settled on him, Andrew felt a surge of power flood through his body. His muscles felt denser, his bones stronger, and his entire being seemed more sturdy than before.

He flexed his arms, feeling the way the armor moved with him like a second skin. "With this war plate, at least I won’t be getting claw marks on my body anytime soon," he muttered with satisfaction.

Next, he reached for the spear, and another description filled his mind.

[Name: Skypiercer Spear]

[Grade: Legendary Tier]

[Information: A divine spear said to have pierced the wings of an ancient dragon. Its tip never dulls and its thrust can shatter mountains.]

4. King’s Execution — Damage increases based on the target’s missing health.

Andrew’s grin widened as he read through the spear’s abilities. The weapon was a monster-slayer’s dream, with multiple abilities specifically designed to take down powerful creatures. He stored it in his inventory for now, planning to sell it when he needed money.

Finally, he turned his attention to the two Gold-Grade weapons that had materialized. The first was a sword with a golden blade that seemed to pulse with a life of its own.

[Name: Crimson Fang Sword]

[Grade: Gold Tier]

[Information: Forged from the fangs of a Gold-Rank Dire Wolf King and tempered in volcanic magma. The blade thirsts for battle and grows sharper.]

The second weapon was another spear, though slightly different in design from the Skypiercer.
