Chapter 41: Let’s Never See Each Other

"Who exactly do you think you are!?"

"How dare you kill people just like that?"

Suddenly he erupted with force and activated his own bloodline and phoenix’s fire erupted across his body.

Red-gold flames licked up his arms, and formed a blazing aura around him that turned the air to shimmering heat.

His eyes became flames itself.

Without hesitation, he thrust his palm forward, and a wall of A-grade flame roared toward Andrew. The fire was intense — hot enough to melt steel, dense enough to form a visible barrier that expanded outward in a rushing wave.

Andrew smiled and blasted out with chaos Dao flame which covered him entirely.

With the flame, he casually walked through the phoenix flames like it was nothing!

He emerged on the other side with the GodSlayer Blade already in motion as he casually flashed out at Arian’s neck.

Arian raised his sword to block. However, it shattered instantly.

The swing continued into Arian’s neck. The red-haired man’s eyes went wide with shock and horror as his mouth opened to speak but no words came out.

Arian’s head separated from his body. It tumbled through the air, his amber eyes still blinking as it landed on the ground like football filled with water.

His body stood for a moment and then he collapsed.

However, Andrew squinted as he realized there was no blood.

Instead, Arian’s entire body dissolved into motes of light, drifting upward as a silver treasure chest and a blade materialized where the body had been and dropped to the ground with a heavy thud.

Andrew stared at the dissolving lights with narrowed eyes as he muttered.

"A Godscion."

He had guessed when he saw the youth burn with divine flames but he didn’t care.

Which meant he wasn’t really dead. Somewhere, in some higher realm, a patron was already preparing to resurrect him.

Andrew’s anger didn’t fade. If anything, it intensified.

He turned.

Lucille was standing a few meters away, her dragon form still active, her golden eyes wide as she stared at the carnage around them.

The dungeon was quiet except for the crackle of dying flames.

Andrew pointed the GodSlayer Blade at her.

"Tell me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you where you stand."

Lucille’s face went pale. Her lips trembled. Her hands shook at her sides as she took a half step backward.

"It’s true I know them," she said quickly. Her layered siren voice was cracking, each word trembling as it left her throat. "But you have to believe me. I would never betray you. They left me to die in that dungeon. You were the one who saved me. You pulled me out of that pit. I owe you everything. My life belongs to you."

Andrew said nothing. His expression was carved from stone. His eyes were flat and cold, like two black holes that swallowed all light. The blade did not waver.

"Not good enough," he said.

Lucille’s jaw clenched. Her teeth ground together as fresh tears welled up in her golden eyes. She reached into her inventory with shaking hands and pulled out a silver treasure chest. It was her reward for assisting in the kill. She held it out in front of her body like a shield, like an offering to a god who had already decided to smite her.

"This is the reward I got for helping you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "And this."

She reached into her inventory again and produced the flask of Earth Milk Liquid. The very same one Andrew had given her when she was broken and dying. The flask was still half full. She hadn’t even used all of it.

"Please," she begged. "You have to believe me. I had no idea they would come back here. I didn’t call them. I didn’t send them a message."

Andrew stared at her for a long moment. The dungeon was completely silent. Even the system notifications seemed to hold their breath.

Then he spoke. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"We are strangers from now on."

Lucille’s body flinched as though she had been struck by lightning.

"Know this," Andrew continued, his voice cold . "When next I see you, I will kill you."

The color drained from Lucille’s face completely. Her lips quivered. Her golden eyes brimmed with tears that began to fall freely down her scaled cheeks. Her wings pressed so tightly against her back that they trembled.

Her tail curled backward and wrapped around her own leg like a child hugging themselves in the dark.

She wanted to speak. But she could see it in his eyes. He was not bluffing.

"What are you still waiting for?" Andrew asked coldly.

Lucille gritted her teeth. She kept the stuffs in her inventory.

Her entire body was shaking. She looked like a lost puppy that had just been kicked out of the only home it had ever known. She turned around and began to walk away.

But before she could take more than five steps, Andrew spoke again.

"Wait."

Lucille froze. Her heart jumped. For one desperate, foolish moment, she thought he had changed his mind.

But Andrew’s expression had not softened at all.

He picked up the silver treasure chest that Arian’s body had left behind.

Then he reached into his own inventory and pulled out another silver chest. Then another. He pulled out two silver-grade weapons. Then a gold-rank armor. Then a gold-rank spear with a tip that hummed with compressed energy. Then one thousand Manachips that materialized as a small glowing pouch.

These were some of the rewards from the Rat King’s death.

He dropped all of them on the ground in front of him.

Andrew accessed his system and transferred his entire credit to her, the magic castles, the Gachapon gifts, golden tickets too.

"Take this," Andrew said. "I don’t want you to die out there after I’ve wasted precious resources to save you once already."

Lucille stared at the pile of items on the ground. Then she stared at the transfer notification that had appeared in her own system. Her mouth opened, stunned.
