Chapter 43: What power could that bastard have?

Yeon’s eyes widened instantly at the mention of that specific person, the sudden shock causing his pupils to contract into sharp needles.

The atmospheric pressure inside the room shifted violently as the aura around him turned cold in an instant.

He slowly turned his head fully toward the messenger, releasing his tight grip on the woman’s neck just enough to let her slide limply against the base of the wall.

He stared directly at the intruder with a gaze that carried immense bloodlust.

"Hey... do you want to die?" he asked coldly.

The messenger shivered subconsciously, his entire body trembling as the freezing wave of Yeon’s aura washed completely over him.

He felt an instinctive urge to flee, stepping backwards toward the open doorway to put some distance between himself and the enraged Yeon.

To the messenger, it felt like a sharp blade was being pressed firmly against his neck, ready to slice through his skin at the slightest movement.

The sheer physical weight of the killing intent made it difficult for him to breathe, and he knew he had to tread carefully, choosing every single word with precision, or else he would really die right there in that room.

Everyone in the guild knew how sensitive the topic of Yeon’s twin brother was to him, and they all knew never to bring it up before him under any circumstances.

It was an unwritten, ironclad rule within the hierarchy of the Roaring Lions Guild that mentioning Leon’s name in front of Yeon was an easy way to get oneself brutally injured or permanently expelled from the organization.

This time though, the matter was really important, carrying massive implications that could disrupt the guild’s current plans.

Because of the sheer gravity of the situation, the man felt that even Yeon would want to know about it, despite his deep-seated hatred for his sibling.

The messenger had weighed the risk of entering the room against the risk of keeping the information hidden, concluding that delivering the news immediately was the lesser of two evils.

Yeon clicked his tongue loudly, the sharp sound echoing off the walls as he stared down the trembling messenger with pure disgust.

He crossed his arms over his chest, his posture radiating arrogance as he barked out his reply. "Why do you think I’ll want to know about that stupid idiot? And one thing... he’s no brother of mine, understood?!"

He disowned the connection, refusing to acknowledge any familial bond with the person the messenger had just mentioned.

After delivering his harsh reprimand, Yeon’s expression shifted into a deceptive display of amusement.

He smiled, but it was a twisted, hollow expression that seemed more like a direct threat to the messenger’s life than a sign of genuine happiness.

"This better be worth it... or you’re dead." he said, narrowing his eyes.

The messenger nodded frantically, his head bobbing up and down repeatedly like a broken toy as he tried to appease the furious player standing before him.

He swallowed down the rising panic in his throat, desperate to deliver the message before Yeon lost his remaining patience.

He opened his mouth and said in a rushed voice, "Yes... the news is that your brot—I mean, Leon just jumped into a C-rank dungeon alone."

Yeon immediately hrew his head back in joy, chucking loudly at the news.

"So that bastard finally decided to end his life, and he did so in such a pathetic manner! I thought he died already in the dungeon with Ran, but this... this is even better!" he said.

To Yeon, hearing that his estranged sibling had walked into a dangerous zone alone was the perfect conclusion to a long-standing annoyance, and he could not hide his twisted satisfaction at the thought of his demise.

The messenger gulped hard, his throat dry as he watched Yeon’s celebratory reaction.

He knew that the next part of his report was going to shatter the S-rank talent’s good mood completely, making his position in the room incredibly dangerous once again.

Shaking his head slightly, the man spoke up in a cautious voice and said, "Sir Yeon... I’m not sure he died... the power he displayed... is nothing like we’ve ever seen before."

Yeon’s expression froze instantly, the grin disappearing from his lips, replaced by a rigid look of disbelief and irritation.

"Power? What power could that bastard have?" he said, refusing to believe that the brother he had always looked down upon could possess any meaningful combat capability.

The man sighed quietly, feeling the immense weight of Yeon’s stubborn denial pressing down on him.

He reached up toward his arm, looking directly into Yeon’s hostile eyes, and said in a low voice, "You need to see this..."

Before looking at the evidence, Yeon glanced down at the woman who was still shivering at the base of the wall.

He gave her a cold, dismissive look that made it clear her presence was no longer desired in the room now that official guild business had taken over.

Sensing her chance to escape the terrifying situation, she did not hesitate for a single second. She gathered her torn shirt around her chest and immediately scurried out of the room, running past the messenger and disappearing down the hallway as fast as her legs could carry her.

Once the door was clear, Yeon turned his full attention back to the man standing before him, his posture tense with growing impatience.

The messenger did not waste any time and immediately tapped the device strapped securely to his wrist, activating the integrated multimedia function.

A bright holographic projection came up between the two men, illuminating the dark room with a flickering blue light.

The video began to play clearly, showing a group of players before for the dungeon gate to open.

Suddenly, the video showed Leon appearing right in the midst of the players, his movements fluid and entirely calm despite the players surrounding him.

The recording captured him easily slaying multiple Sabertooth tigers, tearing through the monsters without a single scratch before turning around and jumping directly into the pulsing orange dungeon gate.
