Chapter 150: Mistaken as noob

A few minutes ago, in the training ground of White Knight Academy, stood a group of people dressed in fine battle armor. Their faces were young and filled with confidence. All of them were awakened, young elites recently recruited by the White Knight Guild. Their talent averaged around four or five stars, a cut above guilds like the Roaring Dragon Guild....ah!

A few days ago, they had been asked if they were interested in receiving direct guidance from world-class sword masters. They did not doubt the claim. After all, the person who said those words was none other than the third-sequence guild master.

At the center of the group stood a prideful young man with sword-like eyebrows, seated calmly as he waited, looking composed and seemingly unaffected by the excitement of his peers.

Tch! World-class sword instruction? What bold claims...!

Among everyone present, the young man snorted inwardly. His fellow awakened might not know it, but he came from a renowned sword family. He knew all the famous figures in the world of swordsmanship, and he also knew how arrogant and haughty those figures could be. There was no way something like that would come to teach the youths of a guild like White Knight.

The young man smelled something fishy...

Although he had all these doubts in his heart, he did not voice them. He simply waited, because after all the serious and earnest invitation from the White Knight Guild had shown him, he was willing to give it a chance.

Just as he was thinking, another graceful figure approached him — a female dressed in a short pencil skirt, wearing a calm and carefree smile. Upon seeing her, he frowned slightly.

"What’s the matter, Raven? What are you thinking about?"

Hearing those words, the smile on the young man’s face froze. A slight look of annoyance appeared on his face.

"Lily, how many times do I have to tell you not to call me by that childish name?"

Before the young man could continue speaking, he suddenly noticed that his fellow awakened had fallen silent and were staring in one direction. Following their gaze, he saw a young man entering the area, looking completely out of place.

Eh? Is he a new recruit? Why is he coming here? Doesn’t he know this is the place where elites receive instruction from world-class sword masters?

He thought with slight annoyance, believing that this newcomer might embarrass them in front of the sword master.

Thinking of all this, Raven decided to confront the young man, walking forward with large strides.

The reaction of the other elite awakened was no different from Raven’s. They also did not want to embarrass themselves in front of the supposed sword master, and because of this strange newcomer, the sword master’s mood might sour. He did not want them to suffer the losses that would follow.

"Hey, you. Where did you come from?"

Just how in the hell did this random hobo get access to this area? I need to give those guild fellows a good beating. They’ve been way too lax these days...

Even Lily narrowed her eyes to slits. Unlike the others, however, she did not complain. Instead, a puzzled look flashed across her face.

How weird... I can’t sense his combat power.

Her talent allowed her to detect the combat power of others, but for some reason, she could not sense anything from the approaching man. She had the feeling that if she looked away for even a moment, she might not even be able to tell whether he existed or not.

The young man at the center of attention simply smiled, and his smile was faintly mocking.

The young awakened was none other than Lukas.

Suddenly, he had the urge to slap himself. Why the hell was he even expecting things to progress smoothly? With his luck, it would be strange if the guy did not attack him.

However, if it had been before, he might have tried to explain. This time, instead, he merely looked around at everyone present, using his sword senses to find the strongest among them.

His gaze finally stopped on Raven.

He could still feel that this guy was the strongest in the group.

Raven, who noticed Lukas looking at him, felt slightly angry. This was the first time someone had looked at him with such indifference. There was something in that gaze that caused him to feel irritated.

Before his anger could erupt, he saw Lukas raise a finger toward him and utter in a low voice:

"You. Attack me."

"..."

The entire ground fell into silent shock.

The elite awakened looked at Lukas, then turned their gazes to Raven. It was common knowledge among them that Raven was the strongest, and yet this no-name newcomer dared to challenge him with such an arrogant tone.

Some of them immediately started laughing, while others shook their heads in disappointment.

The newborn calf is not afraid of the tiger.

Does this noob not know just how cruel Raven is to people who challenge him? They don’t call him Raven for nothing.

Hearing the reactions of the others, Raven’s irritation faded slightly. His gaze once again turned to Lukas, stopping at his forehead for a moment as if searching for something stupid there. After all, if someone was already stupid, why bother challenging him?

Maybe this guy was mentally challenged.

Feeling pity rise in his heart, Raven suddenly decided to teach Lukas a lesson out of goodwill.

Lukas was no social expert, but having been at the bottom for a lifetime taught him how to read people. As such, he could tell what Raven was thinking. But he did not care. Instead, he simply frowned and said,

"Take out your sword."

As he raised his hand, the golden glow of spring grapes covered his palm. Immediately, the weapon rack placed nearby started to shake as if struck by an earthquake. The next moment, a sword launched itself at high speed, flying directly into Lukas’s hand.

This sudden change surprised everyone. None of the people present understood how the sword had appeared in Lukas’s hand.

While the others stared, Raven treated it as nothing more than a gimmick.

"For someone so young and inexperienced, you sure do have some good party tricks. Tell me, which joker taught you this? Surely it wasn’t your mama..."

Raven strode forward while speaking mockingly at Lukas.

Just as he was about to unsheathe his blade, he paused for a brief moment and then said,

"Young one, as a senior I will be merciful and give you one chance. Once my blade is drawn, it must taste blood. Don’t blame me for being ruthless... now quickly bow and admit your mistake, and I will let you go..."

Maybe he had been about to continue acting high and mighty, or maybe something else had happened, but at that moment Lily stepped closer and muttered something in his ear.

Raven flinched.

"There is something seriously wrong with this young man..."

However, Raven simply shrugged his shoulders and said,

"You think this can hurt me? You worry too much, Lily. This is exactly why you are always behind me."

Lily was not one to be easily talked down like that when she was trying to help.

"You... do what you wish."

She stomped her foot on the ground and stepped back, no longer willing to argue further.

Lukas took note of Lily, engraving her face into his memory. Now that he had wasted his time healing these people, he might as well give this time to the sensible ones.

Among the crowd gathered here, only this girl had raised an eyebrow at him.

Raven raised his sword and looked at Lukas with challenge in his eyes.

"Go ahead. Make your move."

He had barely finished speaking when Lukas moved.

Compared to sword skill, in sheer power, Lukas was above all these new recruits. Raven only saw a flash of light before he felt something cold and sharp at his throat.

"What the hell!?"

How did he move so fast... at least the peak of the body refinement realm?

Who is this young man?

The elite awakened gasped in shock. They had only seen a blur when Lukas appeared directly at Raven’s throat, and the sword guard was unable to react at all.

Just then, a possibility flashed through their minds.

The young man they had thought was merely a recruit might not be a nobody at all, but someone they had been waiting for all this time.

Raven’s hand holding the sword shook. He did not dare move even an inch. At this time, his entire body was frozen in place. In his veins, Lukas felt like a walking death. Lukas only needed to make one move, and his head would roll.

Lukas looked at everyone’s expressions and gave a satisfied nod.

"Good! Now that I have all of your attention! Let me introduce myself. From today on, I will be teaching you the ways of the sword."

Although they had already guessed it, when Lukas announced it in such a dramatic manner, the eyes of everyone widened. Raven especially had completely failed to judge the other person. In a real battle, this simple misunderstanding might have resulted in his death.
