Chapter 134: Thunder

The Shadow Monster moved at a startling speed using its movement skill toward Lexie.

Its intention was apparent by how fast it was traveling towards her.

Desther saw the situation and immediately kicked the ground as hard as he could.

The ground quaked and cracked as his body bolted forward. However, his raw speed could just not match up to the Shadow Monster’s teleportation-like skill.

By the time he was halfway there, the Shadow Monster was already a few meters away from Lexie.

On the other hand, seeing the urgent situation, Lexie immediately gripped the sword in her hand as tight as she could.

She has been observing Desther and the Shadow Monster’s battle earlier.

She cheered inwardly as Desther landed hits after hits toward the Shadow Monster, and she was full of worry when she saw his forearm get injured by the Shadow Monster’s claws.

The event transpired quickly, and even with her trained eye, she could hardly follow their almost instantaneous movements.

By the time the Shadow Monster disappeared and went closer to her, she already knew that it was coming to attack her instead.

It must have realized that it could not beat Desther, so it had now turned toward her and made her its target instead.

The second the Shadow Monster’s form disappeared in their view, Lexie had already braced herself for battle.

"THUNDER EMPRESS FORM!"

She muttered under her breath; crackles of lightning immediately coagulated around her entire body. This was a skill she received when she transitioned into her class, Empress of Thunder!

A class meant for speed and devastating destruction, one she chose without hesitation after discovering its implications.

As someone who wanted to be strong and someone that wanted to seek some well-hidden truth, she knew that this was the best class that seemed to be tailor-made for someone like her.

With this form, her destructiveness and speed would increase many times over. Paired with her talent that increases her speed to the limit, she knew that it was only a matter of time before she would become strong enough to stand among the pinnacles of power in the world.

As soon as she muttered the name of her skill, a divine crown made of golden lightning formed at the top of her head. Her hair turned white, adding to the elegance that seemed to radiate an aura of sovereignty.

Golden battle armor materialized and fitted itself, along with a battle skirt for freedom and movement. Crackles of lightning emitted out of her body, like a layer of aura protecting her from harm in all directions.

In her hand, the sword she has been holding transformed into one made of lightning. Its length elongated enough to make her comfortable, the hilt fit into her hand as if it were made entirely for her. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

This was a skill that allowed her to tap into the Thunder Empress Form.

In this form, she could be as swift and as destructive as real thunder. All her attributes would be amplified; her speed-related skill would consume less energy.

Although this was a form that drained her stamina and mana altogether, she could still maintain this form for about three to four minutes.

For her, that was enough time to buy some time for Desther to come over.

She fully trusted that he would come. As swiftly as he could.

Her eyes glowed with golden radiance. The pain behind her back caused by the wound seemed to disappear; her will and battle intent almost materialized as she stared at the incoming Shadow Monster.

As soon as its body appeared a few meters away from her, Lexie knew that she already needed to act first and get the initiative, not wait for the monster to come over and let it attack first.

By taking the initiative to attack, that would also mean that she would be the one to decide the pace of the upcoming battle.

THUNDERSTEP!

She took a step forward, and like lightning incarnate that moved through the land of mortals, her body became a flash of lightning and arrived instantly in front of the Shadow Monster that had just materialized after using its own skills.

By the time the Shadow Monster realized that its target had moved right in front of it, Lexie was already using one of her new skills.

WRATH OF THUNDER!

Mana gathered and formed into bolts of lightning around her lightning sword. The thick aura of destruction coalesces around it, threatening to tear apart and destroy all that dared to block its path.

Lexie swung the sword toward the unsuspecting Shadow Monster. Lightning thundered like a chain of exploding bombs toward the Shadow Monster.

Unable to react in time, the Shadow Monster received the brunt of her attack for all its divine glory.

As swiftly as it arrived, as swiftly as it came crashing back dozens of meters away in an instant.

Cracks formed around its shadowy body. The damage caused by the divine lightning was no joke. It had suffered a lot of strikes from Desther earlier, but one clean attack from a skill managed to injure it to such an extent.

Lexie felt the drain on her mana and energy as soon as she used the Wrath of Thunder.

It was a powerful attack that would instantly gather almost half of her mana for a full-force attack after all. Its power did not disappoint, managing to land a clean strike on the Shadow Monster.

With half her mana gone, she knew that the duration of her Thunder Empress Form dwindled even further.

However, she did not care too much about it.

Her figure once again vanished into thin air.

Her body became a blur, moving forward in extreme speed toward the Shadow Monster.

THUNDERSTEP!

The skill that comes with her Tempest Sovereign talent.

Unlike the Thunderstep, which would allow her to move instantaneously to a location like a teleportation, the Tempest Step allows her to move at breakneck speed without any form of resistance.

Enhanced even more with her Thunder Empress Form, her Tempest Step became even faster.

She matched the speed and predicted where the Shadow Monster would land after her devastating strike, moving toward it with surgical precision.

By the time the Shadow Monster crashed into a nearby tree, Lexie was already there, waiting for its eventual arrival.

Without hesitation, her lightning sword once again glowed with resplendent golden light.

With eyes full of unwavering determination, Lexie swung downward with a force that bore the weight of the heavens.

WRATH OF THUNDER!

However, at the exact moment she swung downward, the Shadow Monster’s body had already disappeared before her eyes.

When it reappeared, it was already behind her, claws extended and slashing toward her exposed back.
