Chapter 168: Crushing Victoy
When both combatants were at the centre of the arena, the brief countdown quickly came to an end and the match began!
The instant Arthur’s voice sounded
BOOM!! FWOOOSH!
The earth beneath Brakka exploded apart. His enormous body disappeared from where he stood like a cannonball fired from a siege weapon.
His terrifying burst of speed caused countless spectators to blink in shock, unable to see how he had moved at all.
The Keth’s expression changed dramatically.
His body instinctively retreated as both daggers were instantly drawn, preparing to receive Brakka’s attack.
Unfortunately... he was too slow.
The moment he raised his weapons, Brakka’s grinning face had already appeared directly before him.
"It’s over!"
Accompanied by a thunderous laugh, Brakka used no skills or weapons, but simply threw an ordinary punch that seemed to pack the crushing weight of a military truck!
BOOM!!!
The air itself exploded beneath the force of the strike. The violent pressure generated by the punch struck the Keth first.
The fist itself followed immediately after, slamming heavily into his abdomen.
BANG!!
The poor opponent’s body instantly transformed into a black blur as he was blasted backward several times faster than he had charged forward.
He crashed violently into the energy barrier before slowly sliding to the ground.
Once again, the entire Central City Arena fell into deathly silence.
From the moment the battle began to the moment it ended, not even a full minute had passed.
"The Keth has lost the ability to continue fighting. Winner of the Second Match, Brakka of the Human Race!"
This time, even spectators from the other races couldn’t help drawing sharp breaths.
The strength Brakka had displayed had already surpassed the level expected of an ordinary Top Thirty Two contestant. Scratch that. It was comparable to those who were already in the Second Layer.
And although the Human side was naturally happy about this, at the same time it was quite expected, as the Keth were known for being one of the weakest races on Ascension Mountain.
...
Inside the Keth Race VIP lounge high above the arena, several powerful Keth elders wore unpleasant expressions on their faces.
Even though they were not known to be the strongest, to be dealt with like this within just a minute was very embarrassing, so embarrassing that it would be quite hard to raise their heads when facing the others.
The middle aged Keth seated in the central position lightly tapped the armrest of his chair. His sharp, small, bead like eyes slowly swept across the remaining contestants before finally stopping on Zichi, Jayden, Lucien, and several others.
"I hope the upcoming matches won’t disappoint me again."
...
Meanwhile, inside another VIP lounge, one that was even quieter and considerably more luxurious, a lone woman sat beside the crystal window.
Gentle light filtered through the transparent barrier, falling softly upon her figure and adding an ethereal radiance to her already flawless beauty.
Her skin was as smooth and flawless as polished white jade. Long silver hair cascaded naturally to her waist like silk woven from moonlight itself.
Her pale golden eyes were tranquil and unfathomably deep, as though there were few things in existence capable of stirring even the slightest ripple within them.
Her beauty was so extraordinary that she resembled a divine goddess who had quietly stepped out from an ancient painting.
From beginning to end, her gaze remained fixed upon the arena below.
Even Brakka’s overwhelming victory had failed to produce the slightest change in her expression.
Only after a long silence did her delicate lips finally part. Her voice, clear and melodious like flowing spring water, softly echoed through the luxurious chamber.
"So... these are the finest young talents of the lesser races... not as impressive as I thought they would be."
...
Down below...
Brakka slowly walked off the arena with heavy, powerful footsteps, his face still wearing that bright, undisguised grin. His mouth stretched so wide that nearly all of his teeth were visible. He looked to be in an exceptionally good mood, as though the match that had just ended wasn’t an elimination battle that determined advancement, but merely an insignificant warm up.
As he returned to the contestant area, cheers continued to echo throughout the Human spectator section. Many young players were still shouting Brakka’s name excitedly, and the blow they had suffered from the crushing defeat in the first match had finally been eased by this overwhelming victory.
As the arena gradually quieted down, the enormous screen floating high above lit up once again. The remaining white crystals slowly rose into the air, and under the gaze of countless spectators, two of them simultaneously burst into brilliant white light. Two dazzling pillars of radiance shot toward the heavens, signaling that the contestants for the third match had officially been decided.
Arthur’s calm yet authoritative voice slowly echoed throughout the Central Arena.
"The third elimination match."
The next moment, two names slowly appeared upon the giant screen.
[Ainos — Nullborn Race.]
[Solas — Sorath Race.]
The instant the two names fully appeared, the Central Arena, which had been roaring with excitement moments before, unexpectedly fell into a brief silence.
Many spectators exchanged glances, their eyes filled with curiosity and confusion. For the overwhelming majority of players on the First Layer, these two races rarely appeared before the public. The Nullborn Race, in particular, was so mysterious that almost nothing was known about them.
Unlike the other three races, which had multiple candidates from different shelters, there was only one Nullborn shelter in the First Layer, so there were only four representatives.
These four had all proceeded to the second stage, a feat that didn’t shock most of the higher ups, as the Nullborns were known for being exceptionally powerful.
"So it’s finally the Nullborns’ turn..."
"This is my first time seeing one of them fight."
"The information on them is practically nonexistent."
"Forget information. Has anyone even seen what they really look like?"
"I wonder who will come out on top between these two!"
