Chapter 949: Chapter 929 Prenatal Check-up

Kasey stood by tightly supervising her as she ate, ensuring she cleaned every last bit. When Anya suddenly vomited, the food splattered all over Kasey’s pants. She screamed, stepped back two paces: "What are you doing! That’s disgusting—Nanny!"

Hearing the commotion, the nanny quickly rushed over. Upon seeing the situation, she hurriedly used a clean cloth to wipe Kasey’s clothes.

The more she wiped, the messier it became.

Kasey shoved the nanny away disgustedly: "Forget it, forget it!"

She shot Liang Anya a venomous glare and stormed back to her room to clean herself up.

The nanny noticed Kasey’s dark expression. While helping Liang Anya wipe her mouth and pouring her a cup of warm water, she cleaned up the mess on the floor and softly cautioned:

"Miss Liang, maybe you should apologize to that foreign chick. Just say it was an accident. Mr. Si might return at any moment, but right now she calls the shots here. Who knows if she’ll hold this against you? If she really wants to trouble you, it’ll be far too easy..."

Liang Anya sipped the warm water. Her stomach felt more comfortable, but the nanny’s cautious reminder made her furrow her brows.

Apologize? Did she do anything wrong? Why should she apologize?

Hadn’t Kasey purposefully made trouble for her? How could she not vomit on her when forced like that? This was clearly Kasey’s fault, not hers.

However, the nanny was right. This new grudge with Kasey would only add to her pile of old ones.

Night hadn’t even fully fallen when Kasey retaliated.

...

After dinner that evening, as per her usual routine, Liang Anya wanted to go downstairs to stretch her legs.

But before she even reached the staircase, two Beiming Hall subordinates who had been left behind extended their arms to block her.

"Miss Liang, sorry, Miss Kasey consulted with the doctor, and he advised that you’re close to your due date. For the next few days, it’s best if you don’t move around too much to avoid premature fetal movement."

Consulted with the doctor?

What a pretty excuse!

This was clearly an attempt to strip away even her slightest bit of freedom!

Each day, all she looked forward to was this short window to breathe fresh air. Even Si Yuheng hadn’t confined her this much.

"Fine, then call Si Yuheng right now! Let’s see if he’ll allow me to stay cooped up upstairs." Liang Anya stared them down head-on.

"At the moment, the Hall Master has just returned to A Country and is attending to formal matters at Mr. Boris’ residence. He doesn’t have time to deal with trivial things like this," Kasey’s voice drifted over.

It was a blatant refusal to let her complain. That’s right, the emperor was far away, and she was powerless.

Liang Anya glared at Kasey. Fine, wasn’t endurance what this was all about? She turned on her heel and headed back to her bedroom.

Kasey waved her hand at the subordinates, signaling them to leave, then suddenly crossed her arms and called out: "Oh, one more thing. Pay attention."

Liang Anya froze mid-step. She turned and saw Kasey slowly approaching, staring down at her with unabashed contempt:

"Stop yelling out the Hall Master’s name so casually. Who do you think you are? Do you really believe you’re the Hall Master’s woman? Don’t let the past few months fool you into thinking that the Hall Master actually has feelings for you. Without that baby of yours, do you think he’d even spare a glance at a little Chinese girl like you?"

Liang Anya scoffed, deliberately cradling her belly: "Then why don’t you go have one yourself? If you’re capable enough, go ahead and make Si Yuheng care for you and your baby like this. Out of all of Si Yuheng’s women, why is my child the one to inherit Beiming Hall? Any other comments?"

"You—" Kasey watched her turn and head toward the bedroom. Her fury surged, and she couldn’t help but snap: "Do you really think the Hall Master wants someone like you—a Chinese girl—to carry on his bloodline? Do you know how many noble women in A Country chase after him? You’re just a girl from a common merchant household in China, ordinary in both looks and status. What gives you the right to bear Beiming Hall’s heir? The only reason that man even tolerates you is because he’s been injured, making his chances of impregnating women extremely low. You just got lucky. Otherwise, he wouldn’t bother with you and your child! Liang Anya, what are you so proud of?"

Liang Anya froze in her tracks, torn by a revelation she had long suspected but never confirmed.

Si Yuheng’s hands-on obsession with her pregnancy... it was all because he’d been injured—his ability to father children was severely impaired?

No wonder he was so desperate and wouldn’t let her go once he knew she was pregnant. Even if she claimed the baby wasn’t his, he’d rather risk humiliation waiting for its birth than sacrifice this slim thread of hope!

After what felt like an eternity, she finally muttered, "He... really can’t...?"

"Heh, which is why I even doubt whether the baby in your belly truly belongs to the Hall Master," Kasey sneered, then coldly smirked, "Not that it matters. There will be a DNA test as soon as it’s born. We’ll find out then."

Liang Anya clenched her fists tightly.

Was the universe playing tricks on her?

Out of all people, it was her—Si Yuheng’s least desired woman—who managed to conceive his child. His injury rendered him infertile, and yet she hit the jackpot on the first try?

Her luck couldn’t possibly be any worse!

Then again, he really couldn’t have kids?

The corners of her mouth twitched uncontrollably, and she had an almost inexplicable urge to laugh.

A man surrounded by so many women, unable to make any of them pregnant—what a joke! Hahaha! 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

It completely clashed with his perfect, powerful image. She had thought he was so capable!

Of course, she couldn’t laugh out loud. She didn’t want Kasey to seize another opportunity to attack her.

Suppressing her laughter, she ended up contorting her face into an awkward expression that resembled constipation.

Kasey mistook the look on her face for devastating humiliation. She finally seemed satisfied and, with a huff, turned away and left.

......

Three days later marked Liang Anya’s final prenatal check-up before her due date.

Since Si Yuheng was absent, Kasey, the nanny, and a few Beiming Hall members were tasked to accompany her to the hospital.

After being imprisoned in her room for three days, Liang Anya finally inhaled her first breath of fresh air.

She got into the car, watching the scenery speed by through the window, and couldn’t help but feel her heart stir.

It was the first outing in months where she wouldn’t be monitored by Si Yuheng.

Kasey noticed her gaze frequently flickering toward the moving scenery and seemed to discern her thoughts. With a sneer, she remarked, "If you think you can escape before delivering the child, you’re dreaming. The Hall Master would never let you go."

Liang Anya’s face darkened. Run? Forget the fact that so many people were keeping an eye on her—she couldn’t possibly flee. Even if she did manage to escape, Si Yuheng would eventually find her, or worse, go after her father and brother.

It was probably this very realization that gave Si Yuheng the confidence to leave her unattended while he returned to his home country.

...

Soon, the car pulled up to the entrance of a hospital not far from the villa.

Kasey ordered the subordinates to wait in the car, accompanying Liang Anya alongside the nanny as they entered the hospital.

Over the past months, this had been the hospital Liang Anya visited for her check-ups. She presumed her delivery would also take place here—it was already all too familiar.

When the doctor called her name, she stood up, glanced at Kasey, and quipped, "You’re even monitoring the check-up? Don’t your eyes ever need a break?"

Kasey, confident Liang Anya couldn’t escape, waved her hand impatiently: "Go on in."
