Chapter 892: Chapter 872: The Death of the Second Young Master

Qiao Yongyong bent down again and nervously asked Nie Yixiao, "He didn’t do anything to you, did he?"

"It’s fine." Nie Yixiao replied flatly.

Qiao Yongyong relaxed a lot and immediately turned to Mike and ordered, "I’ll explain things to my brother later. You leave now. And don’t ever come looking for Brother Yixiao again, otherwise I’ll make sure you regret it!"

"Miss..."

"Not listening, huh? Go back!"

Mike could only glance at the handsome man in the wheelchair before leading his subordinates away.

Once she saw the men from Longding Society leave, Qiao Yongyong crouched down, the fierce demeanor she had earlier completely vanished and replaced with unease. "They really didn’t say anything to you, did they? No matter what they said, don’t take it to heart."

His eyes deepened as he stared at the girl’s small face full of tension. Suddenly, he spoke, "You really love your brother, don’t you?"

Damn, could it be that Mike used her brother’s identity to threaten him, warning him not to get close to her?

This also happened in Mexico City—any man who wanted to pursue her would be threatened by her brother if they failed to meet his standards, ensuring they kept their distance from her.

His gaze grew cold. "You don’t want to talk about it?"

She snapped back to her senses and hummed softly, "I’m the youngest in the family, and my brother is twenty years older than me. After Dad and Mom passed away, he basically raised me. To me, my brother is like a father figure."

Nie Yixiao’s gaze flickered.

If Qiao Yongyong knew that the man in front of her had harmed her beloved brother, causing him to still be unwell and saddled with health issues, how would she react?

As Mike had said, rather than letting her sink deeper and deeper, it would be better to cut ties quickly, while her feelings for him hadn’t yet become too entrenched.

In an instant, his expression grew indifferent. He turned his wheelchair toward the direction of the inpatient ward, his eyes as if they didn’t even see Qiao Yongyong.

"Hey, Brother Yixiao—"

They had just been talking fine a moment ago, why had his face changed again? Qiao Yongyong called out twice, seeing that he had no intention of turning back, her expression turned forlorn. Nonetheless, she mustered her spirits and followed him.

After dusk, the night fell quickly.

At the pier, Huo Zhenxuan, wearing sunglasses with both hands in the pockets of his jacket, kept his head down as he hurried to the speedboat at the harbor. He spoke quietly to the person on the boat, "I’m here."

This was a local smuggler arranged by Su Yan, someone who could help him sneak across the border.

After placing explosives in his brother’s car, he hid in the suburbs for a night.

Today he arrived here at the agreed-upon time.

Now, the whole city’s police were hunting him. On the way here, he was filled with apprehension, fearing he’d be followed. Only after navigating carefully did he finally make it to the pier.

Looking at the vast ocean ahead, he let out a breath of relief.

As long as he reached international waters and switched to a cruise ship, he could leave China.

Once he crossed the border, he could transit in another country, first fleeing to a small place to lay low for a year or two before making a comeback.

In the past few years, working for the drug cartel had earned him a significant sum stashed away in the Swiss Bank, enough for him to live lavishly for a while.

At the thought of this, hope lit up his life again.

The only frustration was his inability to exact revenge before leaving.

Just now, on the way here, he had heard the news in the taxi.

The emotionless voice of the radio host announced: "...Someone deliberately placed explosives in the Huo Group President’s car, but fortunately, there were no casualties."

Fortunate that there were no casualties? In that moment, he nearly shattered his teeth from gritting so hard. If it weren’t for fear of arousing the driver’s suspicion, he’d have wanted to punch the car window.

But that didn’t matter.

He was about to be free.

Revenge is a dish best served cold!

With this thought, Huo Zhenxuan spat heavily, as if venting his resentment.

The smuggler, a man in his forties, had been helping people cross borders in Yunling for many years, with ample experience. His shrewd eyes surveyed Huo Zhenxuan for several seconds before saying, "Get on."

Huo Zhenxuan jumped onto the speedboat and sat for quite a while, but noticed the smuggler still wasn’t starting the boat. Irritated, he frowned and urged, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and start the boat!"

"Second young master, do you want to run out of fuel halfway to the open sea? Since we’re fleeing, we should be fully prepared. I’m refueling now," the smuggler retorted, turning back with disdain.

Huo Zhenxuan glanced at the refueling equipment in the smuggler’s hand and said nothing. But suddenly, he heard the smuggler speak again: "Damn it, no fuel left! Wait here, I’ll grab another barrel from shore." With that, the smuggler jumped ashore and quickly disappeared.

"No fuel earlier, no fuel later, and now there’s none! Damn it!" Huo Zhenxuan cursed, but he was left with no other options.

Time slowly ticked by.

The night was visibly deepening along the shoreline.

Watching as time slipped away, Huo Zhenxuan grew more and more anxious.

Goddamn it, where the hell did that smuggler go with the fuel barrel?

His unease and suspicion intensified bit by bit.

Finally, he couldn’t wait any longer. Not daring to shout for fear of drawing attention, he was about to disembark and look for the smuggler when suddenly, a blinding beam of car headlights pierced out from a distance!

One car after another appeared in view!

The sound of wheels grinding against the ground reverberated, roaring onto the pier.

Until a sharp screech signaled the cars coming to a halt on the shore.

Uniformed officers stepped out of the vehicles, and Huo Zhenxuan’s face changed dramatically in shock.

It was the police!

Why were the police here?!

He was sure he hadn’t been discovered on his way here!

What the hell was going on?!

There was no time to think further. From beside the police vehicles came an officer’s warning:

"Huo Zhenxuan, you are under arrest. Disembark immediately. I repeat, get ashore now, or we will use force!"

The amplified broadcast echoed harshly across the empty dock.

Disembark—

There was no way he was going ashore!

After escaping with such difficulty, was he supposed to end up back in police custody, handed over to Mexico to stand trial and be imprisoned for the rest of his life, spending his days in a cell?

He steadied his panic, noticing the key was still in the ignition at the speedboat’s driver’s seat—probably an oversight by the smuggler. Without hesitation, he leaped to the driver’s seat, twisting the key twice!

The speedboat roared to life!

Onshore, the officers saw him attempting to flee by boat and issued one last warning:

"I repeat, disembark immediately, or we will use force!"

Gritting his teeth, Huo Zhenxuan revved the engine and turned the speedboat’s wheel, heading straight toward international waters—

"Fire!" A police officer commanded.

A subordinate drew his firearm, aiming at the speedboat’s engine, and pulled the trigger, intending to disable it.

"Bang!" A bullet shredded through the night, striking the boat’s rear compartment!

In an instant, the speedboat driven by Huo Zhenxuan lost its balance and stalled on the water!

The officers let out a sigh of relief and were ready to approach and apprehend him, but within mere seconds—boom!

An earth-shattering explosion erupted!

The officers were all thrown to the ground by the blast, horrified, as they watched flames engulf the speedboat, leaving no trace of the person onboard!
