Chapter 891: Chapter 871: I’m Not Interested in Your Young Lady

"Enough. I never planned to look for that irresponsible scumbag. Even if I found him, I’d kill him." Nie Yixiao impatiently straightened his posture and grabbed her slender wrist. "What I mean by saying this isn’t to chat with you—it’s to tell you that there is no chance between us. Go back to the sofa and sleep, or else, return to Disheng now."

Qiao Yongyong noticed his annoyance, withdrew her hand, and silently returned to the sofa.

Nie Yixiao watched as the girl curled up under the blanket, remained motionless, seemingly asleep. His gaze slowly regained calmness, though there was now an unclear complexity within it.

He knew he might have dealt her too many blows during this time.

But...

Killing her feelings early would be good for her.

—————**—————

The next morning, when Qiao Yongyong got up, she found an extra quilt on her.

She glanced at the hospital bed—it was empty, and even the nearby wheelchair was gone.

He must have gone for a walk in the garden early.

After washing up, she planned to find Nie Yixiao in the hospital garden. But as she stepped out of the ward, she saw several burly men in black standing in the hallway, dusty and tired, seemingly having just rushed over, waiting for her to emerge.

As soon as they saw Qiao Yongyong, the men immediately moved forward, bowing respectfully: "Miss!"

A group of imposing men turns submissive in front of the girl, just like subjects bowing to a queen, their reverence clearly displayed.

They were people around her brother.

The leader was none other than Mike, the trusted confidant by Qiao Zonghan’s side.

Qiao Yongyong could guess their purpose for coming: "Did brother send you to see me?"

Mike immediately nodded, saying, "Mr. Huo called Mr. Qiao yesterday. Upon learning that Miss had nearly encountered trouble in Yunling, Mr. Qiao sent us to check on you."

"Now that you’ve seen me, you can go back. Tell my brother I’m fine, nothing’s wrong. I’ll call him later to assure him myself."

Mike hesitated for a moment: "If that’s the case, then we request Miss to be discharged and return with us. After all, Mr. Huo’s matters here are done."

Qiao Yongyong crossed her arms behind her back, slightly raised her elegant chin, shedding the demeanor of a teenage girl and adopting the posture of a family head: "I have important matters to attend to. I need to stay in Yunling for a while longer. You all can head back first."

Mike exchanged glances with the others, his facial muscle twitching slightly. Important matters? It’s clearly because of a man.

He bluntly exposed her: "Miss is staying because of Mr. Nie in the ward?"

Seeing that he already knew, Qiao Yongyong spoke straightforwardly: "Yes."

Mike’s gaze tightened. This Miss of theirs was always playful, so forming a romantic relationship in Yunling wasn’t anything unusual.

But...

If it were any other man, it would be acceptable. But this particular man...

"Miss, Mr. Qiao instructed us clearly that you must return with us this time. If he finds out we didn’t bring you back, he will punish us. Please don’t make things difficult for us." Mike spoke helplessly.

Qiao Yongyong frowned slightly, her tone becoming even sterner: "I already said, I’m staying here. You all go back first. I’ll call my brother today. I’ll handle him, and he won’t punish you! Enough. I have things to do. Don’t just stand here like statues. This is a hospital; looking so fierce and intimidating, aren’t you afraid of scaring the patients? Leave now."

Seeing the slight traces of anger appearing on her delicate face, Mike dared not say anything further and led his subordinates out of the inpatient building.

Leaving the inpatient wing, one of the subordinates couldn’t help but ask, "Are we really letting Miss stay with that man?"

Mike’s expression darkened: "You know Miss’s personality—whatever you prevent her from doing, she’ll do it even more. Besides, it seems like she’s not just casually fond of him. Miss obviously refuses to return and won’t listen to our advice."

"So, what do we do?"

Mike didn’t respond. His gaze shifted and landed on a man seated in a wheelchair on the nearby lawn.

In the morning light, faint sunlight bathed Nie Yixiao’s upright and tall frame. His side profile was flawless.

No wonder Miss was so captivated.

Mike gestured for his subordinates to stay put. His gaze flickered slightly, and he approached.

"Mr. Nie."

The unfamiliar male voice made Nie Yixiao turn around. After seeing who it was, his eyes narrowed slightly: "And you are?"

Mike’s expression carried a trace of coldness: "Mike Zheng, from the Longding Society. Remember me?"

Nie Yixiao understood and let a faint smile curve his lips: "The trusted confidant of your boss Qiao Zonghan."

Mike sneered: "Mr. Nie, for someone who handled so many major cases in ISM and captured so many underworld figures, it’s quite a privilege you still remember me."

Nie Yixiao ignored his sarcasm: "From the Society’s boss to its key operatives, all of you are at the top of ISM’s list. How could I forget you? So, what brings you here—to take your Miss back?"

"Funny how fate works. Years ago, Mr. Qiao was caught up in an ISM raid orchestrated by you. And now, here you are, having once served as Miss Qiao’s bodyguard in Yunling."

Nie Yixiao didn’t speak, but his gaze grew more complicated.

"This time, you saved Miss Qiao’s life. Mr. Qiao is willing to let the past go—as if clearing the slate, settling old scores. But you and Miss Qiao together? That’s absolutely out of the question. So I’m asking you to please keep your distance from our Miss."

Nie Yixiao’s eyes flickered faintly.

He had handled so many ISM cases that the incident with Qiao Zonghan had long been forgotten. After protecting Qiao Yongyong, he only remembered it recently.

Indeed.

It was during his early days in ISM that the Longding Society’s boss, Qiao Zonghan, was implicated in an arms trafficking case.

Nie Yixiao had personally orchestrated the operation, sending a team from the investigation unit to the scene of the transaction to apprehend members of the Longding Society.

Qiao Zonghan was severely injured, shot multiple times. Yet his resilient fortune allowed him to escape under a shield of subordinates, though he was left with lasting injuries.

Qiao Zonghan must hate him to the core.

Recalling this, Nie Yixiao found it ironic that he’d ended up protecting the sister of a man who wanted him dead.

Since remembering the incident, he had begun distancing himself further from Qiao Yongyong.

"I have no interest in your Miss," Nie Yixiao said mockingly. "I can’t wait for you to take her away."

"But Miss refuses to leave and insists on staying." Mike frowned.

"That’s your problem." He pushed the wheelchair, preparing to leave.

Mike’s gaze sharpened: "Then I’d ask you to speak with Miss and persuade her to leave. The longer she stays, the stronger her feelings for you will grow, and the deeper the hurt will be!"

At that moment, distant footsteps echoed. Qiao Yongyong emerged to look for Nie Yixiao and saw the two speaking on the lawn. Her expression changed as she hurried over: "What are you talking to Brother Yixiao about?"
