Chapter 142: Chapter 142— Dark Beasts Weakness
The instant the punch landed straight on the beast head, Cole felt a tiny bit of his life energy drain and enter into the beast’s body.
After the punch connected, Cole instantly created a wide space between the two of them to give him enough room to maneuver and prepare for the next attack.
But the attack Cole was waiting for never arrived, instead the beast legs bent slightly and its body headed straight for the ground.
He was quite shocked by the sight that was in front of him, since he didn’t expect the beast to die so soon just because he used life energy in the attack.
"The vulnerability is quite massive," Cole muttered while he turned around to check out his friends that were behind him.
While he turned around, Cole already had quite a bit of a mental picture of how his face was going to look and he wasn’t exactly too far off.
His friends, Bryan especially, had his mouth open in a wide ’O’ while Linda looked equally as shocked. Cole didn’t say anything, instead he only slowly approached his teammates before saying in a low voice.
"That wasn’t pleasant in any way,"
His friends looked as if they were about to say something but Cole’s next words immediately stopped them. Instead they were forced to nod their head in approval.
Linda still couldn’t still seem like she had completely wrapped her head around what was actually going on.
"Do we really have to kill them," She said softly.
As she spoke, she raised her head to look at the others. Both Bryan and Cole looked at each other waiting for the first person to speak.
Seeing the reluctance on Bryan’s face, Cole finally decided to respond.
"We do," Cole said with his nails almost digging into his skin and his teeth clenched.
"They are monsters now," he added as if he wanted to justify the action he just performed a few minutes earlier.
"They have to pay for this," Bryan said while looking at the chaos unfolding in front of them.
"Are we really going to remain here," Linda asked.
Their previous plan didn’t take into account any sort of dark beast like the one of them so it was all completely scrapped.
Now the trio had no idea what they were supposed to do at the moment. They didn’t have to think for so long though as they heard a beast roar from not far beside them.
The three of them turned their head to look in the direction of the roar and the sight in front of them made them take multiple steps back.
It seems like Cole’s previous actions of killing a dark beast had enraged a group of them causing a large horde of them to charge straight at them.
"Ohh damn," Cole muttered.
Watching the speed at which the dark beasts are coming at them, the trio knew there was no way for them to escape.
"Do we really have to fight them all," Bryan said with a fearful face.
"Yes we do, we either fight or we become minced meat," Cole shouted.
"Can’t we escape?" Linda shouted.
Cole turned to look at her frustratedly before also proceeding to respond to her question.
"The only way to escape is back into the hostel and I am sure these things will follow us straight into the building,"
"None of us would love a battle in such a tight space," Cole shouted back.
He could feel his friends’ unwillingness and he could also understand why but there was nothing they could do.
If he was being honest, Cole was the one that was most affected by this but he just couldn’t show it at the moment.
"We have to stand strong," Cole said to himself.
Now the group of beasts had finally arrived in front of them and Cole was the first person to charge in front and activate Lightning Coat.
He weaved through the crowd and sent an attack towards the first beast he was able to set his eyes on.
Seeing Cole take the lead and charge straight into the horde, his friends were immediately pumped up and given a little bit of courage to do just that.
They also charged straight at the horde with Linda producing her sword and sending out flaming slashes. Bryan also produced Buddha Palms to attack the beasts.
The trio attacked the beast using Life energy driven attacks to prevent any problems. Under the relentless effort of the group one dark beast dropped and then two and then more.
While they fought, Cole noticed something from his teammates’ attacks which made him realize another point or misconception in his earlier point.
"Why aren’t they dying in one attack when the others attack?" he questioned internally.
Cole had felt that the dark beasts were extremely vulnerable to Life energy attacks but it doesn’t seem to be the case. When he saw others not kill the beast very fast, he attributed it to being weaker but now it doesn’t seem to be the case.
He knew his teammates were that much weaker than he was so he didn’t understand what was going on.
"Could it be something peculiar to just me?" Cole wondered.
He continued to fight for a bit before suddenly deciding to actually test if that was actually true. And he had an exact way in mind.
Cole tried his best to reduce the Life energy intensity in his attack, making sure he used as little as possible before sending an attack at an approaching Dark beast.
Just like always, the dark beast flew backward for a bit before slumping on the ground and dying.
"The strength doesn’t even matter, they just die upon contact with my Life energy," Cole said in a confused tone.
Even his teammates had already begun noticing the same thing and seeing him kill a dark with such little Life energy distracted Linda a lot.
That moment of distraction proved deadly as a dark beast suddenly flew into the air and attacked Linda from behind.
No one was able to react fast enough to save her but Bryan was able to notice the beast from the side of his eyes.
"Linda!!!" Bryan suddenly shouted as he watched the beast mouth clamp down.
