“With this, you can access more locations on Spector that, at present, however, for places like the bridge, you will need to be accompanied,” Adam stated to Aphrodite.

“I guess I’m still yet to gain your trust,” Aphrodite said with a sigh.

“I appreciate everything you have done for us so far, I really do,” Adam replied before adding, “but there is just something about you that makes me incapable of fully trusting you yet.”

“Oh!” Aphrodite said in surprise before asking, “Such as?”

“I’m not sure, some big secret maybe,” Adam replied.

“Well, we all have secrets,” Aphrodite said with a smile.

“That’s true,” Adam conceded before turning to Emma and asking, “Ready?”

“Of course,” Emma said excitedly before she stepped up to the console and pressed her hand against it.

“Captain, please designate crew member Emma Hopkins access level.”

“Level two,” Adam replied before saying to Emma. “You're still learning about the known universe and that includes how to use Spector's systems. Once you understand them better, I will increase your level.”

“Level two access granted, registration complete.”

“Understood, captain,” Emma replied while smiling happily.

“See you two, you don’t see Emma getting upset about her low access level,” Rowena stated to Stacey and Tephe before adding, “She fully understands and trusts Adam’s judgment.”

“I trust Adam,” Tephe replied quickly.

“Whatever,” Stacey pouted.

Adam shook his head before saying to Emma, “In the meantime, I suggest you think about getting a neural implant.”

“You mentioned about me getting one of those back on Earth,” Emma remarked.

“I did. If you want to learn more about them, ask the girls while I go take care of Fiere Lucent,” Adam replied.

Emma nodded and was about to say something when her uniband notified her of an incoming call.

She couldn’t help but sigh as she looked down and saw who it was before saying, “I guess Isabella Flemming really wants to talk to you.”

“What do you mean?” Adam asked.

“Sorry,” Emma apologised before saying, “With everything that's happened recently, I forgot to mention that she called as she wishes to speak to you about something important.”

“Such as?” Adam asked while raising an eyebrow.

“Something about you being her grandson or something,” Stacey said dismissively.

“Excuse me?” Adam asked in surprise.

“Yeah, that was basically our reaction to it,” Stacey said with a smirk.

“Stacey,” Lorelie said with a sigh before adding, “you could have broken it to him in an easier fashion.

“Why?” Stacey asked before adding, “Adam’s always said he doesn’t care who his parents are after they abandoned him.”

“I guess you have a point,” Lroelie replied.

“Did she say anything else?” Adam asked.

“No, she said it was something she would only talk to you about,” Emma replied while shaking her head.

“What nonsense is she talking about?” Adam scoffed before turning and heading for the doorway.

“You're sure I can’t come along?” Stacey asked while blinking innocently at Adam.

“Me too,” Tephe asked while mimicking Stacey.

“You don’t want to talk to her?” Emma asked.

“But I wanted to see what he planned to do?” Tephe replied while continuing to pout.

“Do you really think this wont be streamed?” Lorelie asked with a smirk.

“Lorelie has a point,” Rowena remarked before adding, “Spector does seem to insist on Adam streaming anything major that happens.”

“Still, his response to Isabella Flemming claiming to be his grandmother was not unexpected,” Lorelie said with a sigh.

“Agreed,” Emma replied before answering the call.

Milky Way Galaxy, Earth.

Isabella Flemming sat at her desk, tapping the top of it impatiently as she waited for Emma Hopkins to answer her call.

This was something that never happened in the past, after all, as the leader of one of the five families, people always rushed to immediately answer a call from her.

“Calm down, my lady,” Winston advised as he placed a cup of tea on the desk while adding, “Yes, Winston, you're right,” Isabella said with a sigh before adding, “but discussions with him might very well be the most important I have ever had as leader of the family.”

Winston was about to reply, but stopped as the call connected and Emma’s voice politely said,

“Lady Flemming,”

“Miss Hopkins, my apologies for the sudden call,” Isabella replied politely.

“It’s fine,” Emma replied before asking, “Might I assume that you still wish to speak with Adam?”

“I do. Is he available?” Isabella asked hopefully.

“Unfortunately not,” Emma replied before adding, “Also, I suggest you give up trying to speak with Adam for the time being, as he clearly has no interest in what you have to say.”

“What do you mean?” Isabella asked.

“We just informed him about how you claim to be his grandmother and either he doesn’t believe it, or he doesn't care,” Emma replied.

“Which isn’t surprising considering he’s always said he doesn’t care who his parents are,” Stacey’s voice suddenly announced.

“Yes, yes, Stacey, you said that already,” Lorelie’s voice announced.

“Not to her, I didn’t,” Stacey retorted.

“I see,” Isabella said with a disappointed sigh before adding, “I can’t honestly say I’m surprised.”

“It does raise an interesting question, though,” Emma suddenly said thoughtfully before asking, “If you had learned about Adam being your grandson before he found his spaceship, what would you have done?”

As soon as Emma finished speaking, the line went dead, plunging the room into silence.

“What would I have done?” Isabella asked thoughtfully after a moment.

“Lady Flemming?” Winston asked.

“Well, Adam is not my grandson by blood, but is Benjamin's son from an extramarital affair,” Isabella replied before asking, “If I had learned about this in the past, what would I have done in order to cover this up and protect both Karen and the family's reputation?”

Ashes Galaxy, Flamyre.

“Are you able to determine where the target is currently located?” Adam asked as he walked along Spector’s corridor.

“Negative, I am detecting numerous members of the Pyroth race and I am unable to ascertain which is the target,” Spector replied before adding, “Once you grant me access to Flamyre’s mainframe, I will be able to access its security systems and scan all available cameras.”

“Understood,” Adam replied before adding, “Take us down to a height which is safe for me to deploy on the hoverbike.”

“Affirmative, descending now,” Spector replied before announcing.
