Chapter 316: Chapter 316: Infiltration
Su Qing didn’t let the scum die a painless death. She wasn’t a naturally violent person, but the things these scumbags had done, one after another, filled her with a burning rage.
With every squeeze of the vines, she forced them to confess their evil deeds. The scumbags were terrified by Su Qing’s methods; they had never witnessed such inconceivable powers before. Their willpower had long since shattered, so they answered whatever Su Qing asked, confessing nearly every vile act they had ever committed.
The more Su Qing listened, the tighter her fists clenched. With a wave of her hand, the vines wrapped around them suddenly sprouted countless sharp thorns, which ruthlessly pierced into the scumbags’ bodies.
"AHHH—" The pain made the scumbags scream in agony.
Tired of their howling, Su Qing simply commanded the vines to gag them. Unable to make a sound, the scumbags could only writhe, trying to alleviate the pain and the ever-tightening, suffocating restraints.
But it was useless. The more they struggled, the deeper the thorns dug in, and the tighter their restraints grew.
Finally, amidst fear and agony, the scumbags slowly drew their last breaths.
Seeing that they had no signs of life, Su Qing’s expression remained unchanged. She commanded the vines to drag the bodies into the woods, then had them clean up all bloodstains and traces on the ground. Only then did she step into the forest herself. She commanded the vines and tree roots to dig a deep pit, tossed the scumbags’ corpses inside, and then filled it. With a final command, she accelerated the growth of the flora. In an instant, a layer of verdant wildflowers and grass covered the burial site, blending seamlessly with the surroundings until not a single trace remained.
Having dealt with the scumbags, Su Qing turned and left.
In fact, while Su Qing was punishing the scumbags, nearby villagers heard the shouts of Brother Hu and his men. A few who were familiar with Brother Hu even recognized his voice.
The villagers were afraid of Brother Hu, but curiosity got the better of them. They headed toward the small grove of trees, wanting to see what was happening. After all, judging by the sounds, it seemed like Brother Hu was in deep trouble.
However, as the villagers drew closer, they discovered that the source of the sounds was surrounded by circles of vines. Most bizarrely, these vines were suspended in mid-air, densely woven into a green net that completely sealed off the area. They couldn’t see a thing.
’What kind of incredible power is this?’
Seeing this, the villagers felt a chill run down their spines. Someone even called the police.
However, by the time the police arrived at the scene, the net of woven vines had already gone limp and fallen to the ground. In the center, there was nothing—no people, no blood, not even a single trace.
The police investigated for half the day but found nothing, and in the end, they had no choice but to let the matter drop. The incident became one of Xiangcheng’s unsolved mysteries, because from that day on, Brother Hu and his lackeys vanished without a trace.
After leaving the grove, Su Qing wandered around leisurely for a while. When night fell, she used the cover of darkness to find the villa where Brother Song, the third-in-command of the Hetian Association, lived.
By now, nearly everyone in the villa was asleep. Only one room still had its light on. A few goons were standing guard in the courtyard. Su Qing silently slipped over the wall into the compound. Just as she was about to look for Brother Song’s room, she heard two people talking nearby.
"What’s with you? Didn’t you sleep all day? And you’re dozing off now? Careful Brother Song doesn’t find out and punish you," a low voice scolded.
"Ah, Brother Qi, my mistake. I was just visiting my girl during the day and didn’t get a chance to rest, so I accidentally nodded off. It won’t happen again, I swear. Please don’t tell Brother Song," the other voice said ingratiatingly.
"Hmph. If you hadn’t saved my life before, I’d have told Brother Song to punish you," Brother Qi snorted.
"I knew you had my back, Brother Qi." The goon chuckled obsequiously. "Brother Qi, what are you doing here so late? Shouldn’t you be at home sleeping?"
"Since when do I have to report my business to you?" Brother Qi snorted.
"Ah, no, no, of course not! You’re here this late, so Brother Song must have sent for you. Heh heh, I get it. You’d better go on in," the goon said with a quick laugh.
Brother Qi said nothing more and walked toward the villa.
Su Qing saw the chastised goon spit on the ground in Brother Qi’s direction and mutter, "What’s he so arrogant for? I saved his damn life, and he’s still acting all high and mighty with me. If I’d known, I would’ve just let him die back then."
Su Qing raised an eyebrow. She ignored the goon’s muttering and quietly followed Brother Qi. The courtyard was filled with all sorts of plants, and Su Qing cleverly used them to conceal herself, remaining undiscovered.
Seeing Brother Qi enter the villa, Su Qing knew she couldn’t follow him inside. She thought back to the conversation between him and the goon, then glanced up at the lit room on the villa’s second floor. Narrowing her eyes, she silently scaled the wall, using the darkness as cover, and crept toward the illuminated window to peek inside.
The room’s curtains were drawn. Su Qing could only find a few gaps to peek through, where she saw a shadowy figure inside what looked like a study. She wasn’t sure if this was the third-in-command, Brother Song, so she decided to wait.
Sure enough, a moment later, someone knocked and entered the room, respectfully calling out to the person inside, "Brother Song."
The newcomer was none other than Brother Qi.
Su Qing’s lips curved into a smile. ’Looks like I found the right place.’
Then, Su Qing clung motionlessly to the wall beside the window, carefully listening to the conversation between the two men inside.
"How is the collection of ’goods’ coming along?" an unfamiliar voice asked, tinged with impatience. ’That must be Brother Song,’ Su Qing thought.
Brother Qi sighed. "Not good. The mainland Public Security Bureau has been cracking down hard lately. Our operations have been busted by them several times. Now the Xiangcheng police have also deployed a lot more officers on patrol, so it’s not easy to operate. So... the recent ’shipments’ have been a bit small."
"Dammit!" Hearing Brother Qi’s words, Brother Song slammed his hand on the desk in anger. "Why do you think the Xiangcheng police suddenly stepped up patrols? Isn’t it because you went behind my back and agreed to kidnap that young lady from the Cheng Family? Now look! Not only are the mainland operations affected, but even things here in Xiangcheng are being impacted! Tell me, if this delays our schedule, how are you going to answer to me?"
"Brother Song, I was wrong," Brother Qi said, quickly lowering his head to admit his mistake.
"Hmph," Brother Song snorted coldly. "What are you planning to do with the Cheng Family’s young lady? We can’t let her go, that’s for sure. Otherwise, just toss her in the lab."
After all, Cheng Beilin had seen the kidnappers’ faces. Brother Song would absolutely not allow for any loose ends.
