Chapter 534: Chapter 534: Bring Her Home

By this time, Evelyn Morgan had already taken the train to Zephyr.

It was her first time in this city. Although it felt unfamiliar and a bit intimidating, there was an inexplicable sense of freedom.

Ever since she married Caden Lockwood, even though he never restricted her movement, the title of "Mrs. Lockwood" made it impossible for her to do what she wanted without a care, like before.

Fortunately, after arriving here, she found a job at a small restaurant—as a waitress. The restaurant was doing well, needing extra hands, and provided meals and boarding.

Staying in the dormitory, Evelyn felt like she finally had a temporary haven.

She never intended to run away from home; she just wanted some quiet time alone.

After all, she was still a college student and needed to return to school when it reopened.

However, after Caden Lockwood forcefully demanded her, she could no longer bear to see him.

How could there be such a man in the world?

Could he really just change his demeanor at will?

After calming down, Evelyn realized that it wasn’t really Caden’s fault.

She had deliberately provoked him, and never explained about the diary.

He must have been really angry!

But she still felt wronged.

Was it okay for him to treat her like that just because he was angry?

Thinking about it brought tears to Evelyn’s eyes again.

She took a deep breath, forcing down the sadness in her heart, turned over in bed, and made an effort not to think about Caden Lockwood anymore.

She hadn’t planned what to do next.

At least, as long as she hadn’t been found, she wanted to work well and make the days count.

...

Five days later, Evelyn became quite familiar with her work at the restaurant.

Carrying trays, she weaved through the tables, wearing a sweet smile. Her beauty was pleasing to the eye.

Outside the restaurant, Caden Lockwood sat in the back seat of the car. Sean Ashton was driving, and they had been parked there for nearly an hour.

The sun was blazing. Even with the air conditioning on, after baking in the scorching sun for an hour, the car’s exterior was scorching hot, and the air inside felt stifling and oppressive.

Sean kept glancing at Caden through the rearview mirror, wanting to ask why he didn’t go in to see Evelyn, but he didn’t dare break the grim and severe atmosphere in the car.

These days, Caden had been tirelessly searching for Evelyn, hardly sleeping.

Sean followed Caden night and day, searching for five days straight.

If there was even a hint of news about Evelyn, no matter how far, Caden would rush over.

Disappointment followed disappointment; now, Caden had finally found Evelyn!

Sean sighed deeply in his heart, feeling that Caden and Evelyn’s road to love was truly full of hardships.

Looking again at Caden, his gaze was filled with obsession, guilt, helplessness, unease, and even a fear he never had before.

Sean frowned, worry flooding his heart.

Caden sat stiffly in the back seat for over an hour, as if every cell in his body had frozen.

He didn’t move at all, even blinking felt like a luxury, just watching Evelyn busy in the restaurant.

He was torn.

The strongest desire these past few days was to see Evelyn.

Now that he had truly found her, seeing her face adorned with a radiant smile, he didn’t know how to face her.

He feared he had thoroughly disappointed her, feared that his tainted and despicable image was now deeply rooted in her heart.

If he could, he wished the world would stop at that moment, and just watching her smiling face would’ve been enough.

"Boss," Sean finally couldn’t help but speak, "Should we bring the boss’s wife home?"
