"<Hey, focus, this is no time to-...>," Began Rex, before trailing off as the Halo suddenly zipped away as I vaporized the Angel’s body again.
The Halo rapidly ascended into the air, before the Angel’s body regenerated from scratch in a matter of seconds, a shaky look on his face as he reappeared.
"Wh-What the hell are you-...?!" He began, before he was cut off as a massive ray of glowing blue energy barreled towards him and engulfed his body, launching him across the air and obliterating his body once again.
"Oh, hey, Cleo, you’re back already? What happened to Jaden?" I greeted her, as I blasted myself out of the crater and landed beside her.
"I managed to knock him out and then rushed here as quickly as I could. But it looks like I didn’t need to, you seem to have things under control here," She responded in bemusement.
"Yeah, this guy has no idea how to fight, his reaction time is so slow, he always panics when caught off-guard and leaves himself wide open. How much Mana does he have left?" I asked her.
"Let’s see...oh, you’ve wiped out over a third of his Mana. He still has a lot left, though," She informed me with a frown.
"I see. In that case, let’s keep wearing him down, shall we?" I suggested as I cracked my knuckles.
"Yeah, sounds good."
"H-How is this possible? You lowly mortals should stand no chance against me, so how-...?!" He began, before quickly veering across as I fired out a rapid explosive blast at him.
"It’s true that you’re faster and stronger than we are, but you’re just so predictable and easy to read. All we really need to do is get used to the timing of the speed of your attacks, and we’re set," I responded tauntingly, as I unleashed a volley of explosions at him.
He zipped across the air to evade my attacks, a few of my explosions grazing him and erupting fiercely, blasting off chunks of his body and sending him pinballing around the space.
As I hit his torso with a powerful explosion and sent him hurtling back, Cleo flew up behind him and latched onto his back, before triggering several consecutive bursts of nuclear energy, vaporizing his body over and over, faster than he could regenerate.
I backed away as I felt the nuclear energy stinging my skin, getting some distance and conserving my time limit with Spirit Fusion as Cleo repeatedly shaved off the outer layer of the Angel’s body.
Suddenly, his body went limp and began to disintegrate into golden energy, his Halo rapidly flying away from Cleo. As the Halo came to a stop several meters away, his body began to form again, a yell of fury ringing out as he unleashed a devastating eruption of flames around himself.
The air surrounding him shimmered violently as the flames expanded sharply and began swirling, a twisting tornado of fire spinning around him with immense force.
I shot forward as Cleo backed away with a grimace, leaping forward as I closed in on the tornado and phased right through it, landing on the ground below him at the eye of the fiery storm.
His eyes widened in alarm as he glanced down just in time to see a massive explosive sphere shooting up towards him, a frantic yell ringing out before getting promptly drowned out as the explosion slammed onto him and erupted with devastating force.
The flaming tornado got blown away by the force of the blast, chunks of his body flying out before his body regenerated under his Halo. He quickly flew away as I fired out a volley of explosions at him, blasting his right leg off as one of them struck his knee and exploded with immense force.
"He’s down to less than half his Mana now. But I’ve got less than a minute before this power boost runs out, and I only have about a third of my Mana left," Remarked Cleo, as she swooped down and landed beside me.
"Yeah, I only have about a couple of minutes before my Spirit Fusion wears off too, and I’m more or less in the same boat as far as my Mana is concerned," I replied, continuing to fire off my explosions at the Angel as Cleo backed me up with a flurry of nuclear blasts.
"Let’s keep attacking and make full use of our current Spirit Fusions. We need to wear him down as much as we possibly can," She responded, before spreading out her wings and taking off, zipping towards Kerubiel.
She weaved through the air as he unleashed a barrage of roaring fireballs at her, but his aim was off and she had no trouble evading the flames. I fired out a rapid scattershot of explosions around him, boxing him in and forcing him to a halt, his eyes widening in alarm as Cleo snapped open her jaws and unleashed a massive wave of nuclear energy, engulfing him entire body and vaporizing most of his form as he got sent hurtling through the air.
As he crashed onto the barrier, with most of the front of his body wiped out, Cleo rushed forward at full speed, concentrated nuclear energy swirling around her fists, before she unfurled a vicious rush of powerful strikes as she closed in on him, brutally battering his damaged body and keeping it from fully regenerating.
His Halo then detached from his body and flew away, Cleo tried to grab it but her hand got warped around the glowing ring. She then flew back and swooped down as he regenerated, landing right as her Spirit Fusion faded, reverting her to her normal form.
"No doubt about it...every time your Halo moves on its own and reforms your body from scratch, you use up a tremendous amount of Mana, don’t you?" She surmised, as Kerubiel finished regenerating.
"Oh, is that so? That explains why you only do that when you’re being cornered and overwhelmed," I smirked, before blasting myself straight towards him with an explosion, launching myself through the air with immense speed...
