Chapter 701: Chapter 701: The Trial (Part 2)
"<Descent>, <Drain: Cloak>," I rapidly chanted as Aria drove her fist towards me, her eyes widening as the flames disappeared the instant they came into contact with the misty white energy cloaking my body.
As her fist thudded against my chest, I grabbed her forearm, tightening my grip before steeling myself as I lowered my right arm and unleashed Obliterate, wiping out her legs. I felt a sharp pang in my chest as she winced in pain, biting my lower lip as I pushed my emotions down and...
"Shit...!" She blurted out in alarm, as I swiftly extended out several tendrils of Negative Energy coated in the energy of Drain and snared her arms, restraining her.
She began to try and break free, before I whipped my left arm across, striking her chin with the back of my fist, launching her across and sending her crashing onto a nearby building, the top of her head smashing through a window before she fell inside the building.
The flames around her body faded as her wings, tail and horns retracted, reverting her to her normal state as she lost consciousness and passed out.
Dozens of light blasts then came shooting towards me, getting consumed by the energy of Drain wrapped around my body, before I sprinted away as Matriel shot towards me through the air, unleashing her light blasts with reckless abandon.
I narrowed my eyes at her, clenching my fists as I suppressed my rage. I’m really pissed off right now. And I’ll take it all out on her.
But first, I need to draw her further away from Aria, she’s completely defenseless right now. I swear, I’ll make this Angel pay for forcing me to fight and hurt her.
I’m running out of time with Drain: Cloak, just a handful of seconds left before it reaches its time limit and wears off. And with the way she’s attacking so relentlessly, she’s forcing me to keep it active.
As Drain: Cloak wore off, I sprang back as a devastating blast of water came shooting towards me, but I was too slow to react, the blast slamming onto my arms as I crossed them defensively, my bones shattering as I got launched back through the air, a barrage of piercing water projectiles shooting towards me.
I came to an abrupt halt as Matriel landed in front of me, before swinging my blade across at her throat. She stepped back to evade it, before lunging forward and slamming her knee onto my stomach, blood bursting out of my mouth as several organs ruptured upon impact.
"<Obliterate>," I chanted, wiping out most of her torso as she blasted me away with a pressurized burst of water, shattering several of my bones as I got sent hurtling back through the air.
As I hit the ground and skidded back, coming to a sliding halt across the dirt, I quickly rolled out of the way as I spotted her swooping down towards me, her right fist crashing down onto the middle of my left arm and crushing my elbow with a sharp crunch.
She then leapt across as I fired out Obliterate, wiping out a chunk off the side of her head, the rest of the blast getting warped around her Halo.
"It’s no use. You don’t have what it takes to force me to use up all my Mana, and so long as I have Mana, you can’t so much as scratch my Halo. I’m aware that you’re already effectively at full power with both your Descent and Enrage abilities. Even if you switch from Descent to your most powerful Spirit Fusions, you would only be marginally more powerful, it still won’t be enough. Surrender now and I’ll end this quickly and painlessly," Stated Matriel with a smirk, before letting out a sigh and swiftly sidestepping as I unleashed Obliterate, wiping out the left half of her body.
"You take me too lightly, Angel," I uttered, before driving my blade towards her as I lunged forward.
She shuffled across to evade the thrust of my blade, before blasting my side with a powerful water blast, crushing the left side of my ribcage as I got launched across the air.
As I crashed onto the side of a building, she shot towards me and slammed her feet onto my stomach, blood gushing out of my mouth as the wall behind me shattered to pieces, the entire building collapsing as my vision blurred sharply, both Descent and Enrage deactivating as I collapsed onto my knees, blood pouring out as I coughed sharply.
"Looks like it’s over," She remarked, before unleashing a crushing blast of water, launching me into the rubble as she added, "Even with your full power, you couldn’t challenge me. And now, with your power boosts gone, killing you will be easy. Do you have any last words, mortal?"
"Yeah...I’ve got one. <Pilfer>!" I exclaimed as I burst out of the rubble, having activated Spirit Fusion with Invidia the instant she launched me into the rubble.
I targeted her Status Effect Immunity, making her vulnerable to my debuffs. Her eyes widened in alarm as I unleashed Enrage and switched my Spirit Fusion from Invidia to Acedia, electric blue scales forming all over my body.
"What-...?!" She blurted out, before gasping sharply as I activated Shuffle, hitting her soul with a powerful jolt.
"<Command: Expose Your Halo>," I chanted, a look of horror appearing on her face as the Mana wrapped around her Halo vanished, before I chanted again, "<Lethargy>, <Spite>!"
She began to back away and get some distance, but she was slower than before, her movements panicked and clumsy. And now, it no longer matters how powerful she is. This fight is over.
I leapt forward with a powerful flap of my wings while simultaneously unleashing a burst of Negative Energy from behind me, launching myself forward and swinging my blade across at full strength, a look of despair in her eyes as she helplessly watched my blade slicing through the air towards her Halo.
She tilted her upper body back in desperation, but it was no use. My blade collided against the glowing golden ring above her head, before slicing right through and shattering it to pieces...
