Chapter 695: Chapter 695: Cleo vs Ciel
Point-of-View: Ciel Campbell

"Alright, here we go! [Spirit Fusion, Ghost: Rex]," I chanted, a burst of energy erupting around me as my hair turned white, my body glowing as my eyes turned red.
"<Spirit Fusion, Atomiguana: Nuke>," Chanted Cleo, jet-black scales appearing across her entire body and covering her skin as she transformed.
Wings and a tail appeared on her back as glowing blue cracks appeared across her scales, her tail flicking across before whipping against the floor with a loud thwack.
It’s been a little over a day in here since we defeated Baraqiel, so about half a day on the outside has passed. In the end, we decided to take our time and prepare ourselves as best we can before making our next move.
Most specifically, providing a sort of training crash course for Leto and Alkimia, to try and get them at least close to the minimum level of skill and combat ability that they’d need.
Pretty sure all of us have some doubts and reservations about Leto fighting alongside us, and I’ve caught Kai staring at him with a murderous look in his eyes on more than one occasion...but given the circumstances, we don’t really have much of a choice in the matter.
The remaining two Angels are even more powerful than Baraqiel was, and while they’re probably just as lacking in skill as he was, defeating them will be far from easy, to put it lightly.
Anyway, Kavi’s currently training Alkimia, and Kai is handling Leto. So, Cleo and I decided to spar against each other in the meantime. This should also be a good opportunity for me to refine my control and mastery over the Wind Magic I gained in the other world. I have put some work into it, but frankly, not enough, I’ve been pretty neglectful with it.
Until Baraqiel, we haven’t been seriously challenged since the Demon Lord, so we should probably take this opportunity to sharpen ourselves and shake off the rust.
The opponents we faced in that other world were so much weaker than us that I wouldn’t even call our clashes against them fights, we basically dogwalked every single person we fought. I mean, winning a literal war against them turned out to be a walk in the park.
Alright, time to focus up and kick this off! You ready, Rex?
"<Yeah, I guess. Let loose, I’ll control the intangibility and make sure you don’t get hit>," He responded, right as a rapid beam of atomic energy came shooting towards me.
The attack phased right through me, before I lifted my gaze as Cleo spread out her wings and flew up.
I raced away as she unleashed a deafening sonic screech down towards me, evading it before spinning around and firing out a swirling explosive blast at her. She swiftly flew back and fired out an atomic blast in respond, intercepting and triggering my attack well before it could reach her.
As a loud, satisfying boom rang out, Cleo swooped down and landed, unleashing another sonic screech at me. I launched myself into the air with an explosive burst from below my feet, before using my Wind Magic to hover in the air, swaying a bit as I took a moment to stabilize myself.
A massive wave of cold, freezing air came roaring up towards me, the attack phasing through me before I let out a slight yelp as I lost control of my Wind Magic slightly, dropping about a meter in the air before grabbing myself again.
"<Oh, that was smart, the sudden change in the temperature to the air around you upset your control over the air>," Surmised Rex, a wave of ringing sound shooting towards me as I zipped across the air.
Hm, yeah, she’s taking advantage of that fact that I haven’t mastered flying with Wind Magic yet...okay, then, evasion isn’t the way to go here, gotta go on the attack.
My Spirit Fusion with Rex may be powerful, but it only lasts five minutes, staying on the defense the whole time would be a waste. Alright, then, time for a more aggressive approach!
I then unleashed a volley of explosions, deafening booms ringing out as the sonic screech triggered my projectiles, the blasts drowning out Cleo’s attack. I rapidly shot towards her as her attack petered out, launching myself towards her with a combined burst of wind and explosive energy, her eyes widening in alarm as I met her gaze from inches away in an instant.
I extended out my Explosion Blade and swung it across at her as she sprang back as fast as she could while crossing her arms in front of herself defensively, shimmering atomic energy wrapped around her forearms.
A devastating blast erupted as the tip of my blade grazed her right forearm, the force of the explosion sending her hurtling back and crashing onto the wall behind her with immense force, a sharp gasp ringing out upon impact.
"Didn’t you say you have a new move you wanted to try out? Come on, unveil it already," I called out, as she clutched her right arm with a grimace, waiting for it to heal as she kept her distance and eyed me warily.
"There wouldn’t be any point, at least not while you’ve got Spirit Fusion active. I’ll test it out against Kai later," She responded, before lunging forward as she snapped her jaws open and fired out another sonic screech at me.
I blasted myself up into the air again to evade it, as she then unleashed a massive cloud of poison smoke, which rapidly billowed out and filled the space.
"<Be careful, hold your breath whenever I’m not making you intangible>."
Yeah, I know. Don’t worry, my lung capacity is pretty insane now, thanks to the boost I got in the Final Dungeon. Heh, I’ll prove it to you once this is over, you can time me while I blow you in the tub with my head underwater, the way you like it-...
"<C-Can we not talk about that right now>?!" He cut me off, as Cleo fired out a volley of sound blasts at me.
Oops, my bad, I’ll focus up.
