Chapter 694: Chapter 694: Hope It Doesn’t Come to That
"Well, this is concerning. One might have been just about manageable, but both of them being this powerful is going to be a problem," Sighed Cleo warily, as we finished going through the stats and abilities of the two remaining Angels.
"Yeah, guess the Gods wanted to take no chances after how easily we took down the first one. It also sucks that the time dilation has been restricted so much, we’re going to have a lot less time," Added Ciel with a grimace.
"Um, on the bright side, we killed the first Angel in less than a couple of hours after the trial began, so we’re way ahead of schedule," Chimed in Alkimia optimistically.
"That’s true, I don’t think the time limit is going to be much of a factor in this trial. Don’t forget, one of the rules of the trial is that the Angels aren’t allowed to hide," I pointed out.
"Oh, yeah, that’s right. We’ve effectively got four months left, so we can afford to take our time in planning things out," Nodded Cleo thoughtfully.
"I’m not so sure about that. The longer you take, the more time the Angels will have to coordinate with the Hunters and effectively prepare themselves to respond when you launch your next attack," Remarked mom objectively.
"Yeah, that’s a good point. Frankly, it’s going to be difficult to avoid fighting Jaden and Aria when we target the next two Angels. It’s almost impossible to kill the Angels until they use Ascent, and they aren’t going to be in any rush to unleash that power," I responded grimly.
"Right, they’ll wait till more Hunters show up before using it. There’s no way they’ll pass up on forcing us to fight our friends," Frowned Ciel in reply.
"Hm...what if you use Pilfer to steal Ascent?" Suggested Cleo hopefully.
"I already considered that, but the stolen ability will return to its owner in five minutes. That won’t be enough time for us to exhaust the Angels’ Mana, especially considering that these two have significantly more MP than Baraqiel did," I shook my head.
"Hah, you guys are idiots. You aren’t even considering the possibility that the Gods changed the rules revolving around how the Angels work. Which it seems like they did, by the way," Scoffed Leto, as he scrolled through a screen.
<He’s right>
<I was just about to bring it up, it looks like the Gods have twisted reality a bit further>
Seriously?
"Huh? What the...?" Frowned Ciel, as we all opened up screens and accessed the internet.
"Yeah, no doubt about it, the altered history and reality has changed. The remaining two Angels, it looks like they have the wings and Halo out by default," Remarked Cleo with a grimace.
"I don’t get it, they still have Ascent under Divine Arts in their status screens...don’t tell me that means they can double their current stats," Muttered Alkimia nervously.
"Well, this sucks, we’re basically back to square one as far as what we know about the Angels is concerned. They might not even have the same weakness as Baraqiel, which would make targeting their Halos pointless," I sighed wistfully.
Hey, Ai, do you think you’d be able to analyze the other two Angels when we encounter them and discern how they’re different to Baraqiel?
<In theory, yes>
<But we can’t rule out the possibility that the Gods have added something that would interfere with my analysis>
Well, shit. Let’s hope they weren’t that thorough.
"Maybe we should take the risk and just attack the Angel in Sanctuary Alpha as soon as possible. The element of surprise is off the table, and whatever plans we made before are almost definitely not going to work. Our plan to lure Baraqiel into the Pocket Dimension didn’t work, and it almost certainly won’t work on the other two Angels," Pointed out Ciel.
"Yes, the Gods have likely warned them about that by this point," Nodded mom in response.
"The Sanctuaries will definitely be on high alert right now. After all, as far as everyone else is concerned, we just killed one of the heroes who saved the world," Remarked Cleo with a grimace.
"Tch, just fucking kill anyone who gets in our way, it’s that simple," Shrugged Leto spitefully.
"Yeah, that’s not going to happen," Responded Ciel dryly.
"We just need to take Jaden Xeno and Ariella Velle out of the equation, right? They’re the only real threats to us besides the Angels," He argued with a scoff.
"Hasn’t even been twenty minutes since you got your stats maxed out, you’ve certainly let it go to your head, haven’t you?" I remarked icily, holding myself back.
"Whatever," He muttered, averting his gaze.
Having him with us is nothing but cause for concern, he’s a liability. We can’t fight effectively if we have to worry about watching our backs around him. And with his stats maxed out now, we definitely can’t take him lightly:

His stats and Power Level are identical to Alkimia’s. Given that power, he could give us an edge we need in the upcoming battles, so excluding him could prove costly.
Maybe I should just kill him. No, I shouldn’t be too hasty. He hasn’t actually done anything yet, and there is a possibility that he’s just being edgy. Except, I know that isn’t the case, he didn’t set off my passive lie detection.
If nothing else, he fully believes everything he says, he doesn’t see any problem with killing anyone who interferes. If and when we complete the trial, I may need to seriously consider killing him.
The powers of his Reaper System, in the hands of someone like him, is a dangerous prospect, one that I can’t afford to ignore. But for right now, my only real option is to keep an eye on him and hope it doesn’t come to that...
