Chapter 692: Chapter 692: Baraqiel Baraqijal (Part 10)

Baraqiel lost control of his flight and plummeted, right as Gula burst out of a pile of rubble and fired out her petrifying beams at him. His expression began to ease as he healed, before his eyes widened as he saw the beams coming.

He quickly began to try and stabilize himself and fly out of the way, but he was too slow to react, the beams hitting the side of his head and rapidly turning his body to stone.

He shattered to pieces as he crashed onto the ground, his Halo floating up as his body began to regenerate from scratch, a glowing mass expanding and starting to take shape.

"Don’t let him fully re-form," I remarked, firing Obliterate at a hundred percent and wiping out his body again.

Ciel blasted out a flurry of explosions as he began to form again, blasting the growing, glowing mass to pieces and forcing him to start over. Earlier, his regeneration was too fast, but that isn’t the case anymore.

I fired out a barrage of Negative Energy blasts with the occasional Obliterate, in conjuction with light blasts from mom, Ciel’s explosions and more Negative Energy from Cleo.

Before long, the Mana wrapped around his Halo began to flicker and weaken, as we continued to keep the Angel from fully regenerating, continously cutting him down each time.

Eventually, my power boosts ran out, reverting me to my base form, along with mom and Cleo. All of us were running very low on Mana, but we weren’t the only ones.

"Alright, it’s over. Wouldn’t you agree, Baraqiel?" I remarked, approaching him as he regenerated at a snail’s pace, about half his head re-formed.

"Well, that was a rather anticlimactic end. Even if I am the weakest of the three Angels assigned to conduct this trial, I didn’t think that I’d be defeated so easily. It seems I’m not the only one who underestimated you, the Gods appear to have made the same mistake. I would need a tremendous amount of additional power to make up for the gap in skill and experience," He sighed wistfully, as his mouth regenerated.

I see, so the other two Angels are stronger than he is, huh?

"The protection around your Halo is gone, you have practically no Mana left. So, I trust that you aren’t going to resist in futility," I responded, the others walking over as I came to a stop, looming over Baraqiel as I raised my blade.

"What a waste, you had all that power, but your lack of combat skill and experience was painfully clear. Well, I suppose I shouldn’t complain, it’s thanks to that that we got through this alive, and pretty easily at that, all things considered," Mused Ciel thoughtfully.

"I mean, I did legitimately die back there, so...," Muttered Cleo dryly.

"<One down, but still two more to go. And from the sound of it, things aren’t going to get easier>," Rex sighed wistfully.

"Uh, I kinda feel bad, I didn’t contribute at all except for at the very start," Chimed in Alkimia sheepishly.

"Don’t worry about that, we totally had it under control. You didn’t have any openings to jump into the fray, so you have no reason to apologize," Smiled Ciel, patting her shoulder.

Yeah, between all of us, plus the Apostles and Spirits, overwhelming him was easy in the end. If it was only two or three of us, it would’ve been a different story. But with so many of us in play, and with plenty of space to work with, we were able to keep his focus split almost constantly.

"Alright, I’ll go ahead and put you out of your misery now. Well, I guess you’re not actually dying. Tell the Gods I said hi," I remarked, before swinging my blade down, striking his Halo and slicing right though it.

"Good luck, I suppose. As an entity of the Divine Realm, it would be disgraceful if I did not accept my defeat gracefully," He sighed, as he steadily disintegrated into glowing energy, fading away entirely in a matter of seconds.

"Oh, looks like the barrier’s fading. We should probably...," Muttered Ciel, trailing off as the golden barrier disappeared, several Hunters coming into sight.

"Get in the Pocket Dimension, quickly. I’ll brute force my way out of the Sanctuary and regroup with you guys once the coast is clear. Hurry, we don’t have any time to-...," I began as I opened a portal into the Pocket Dimension, before trailing off as our surroundings suddenly turned white.

What the...?

"Huh? What just happened? Oh, hey, this looks like the place where we first reunited, before I got reincarnated into that other world," Remarked mom, before her eyes widened in realization.

"The fuck is this shit?!" Suddenly came Leto’s voice from behind us.

I glanced back, to see him looking around with an incredulous look on his face.

"Looks like we’ve been summoned to the Divine Realm again. I have a bad feeling about this," Frowned Ciel warily.

Yeah, that makes two of us.

"Greetings again, humans. First, let us congratulate you on clearing the first obstacle of your trial," Chronos’s voice suddenly boomed around us.

"Thanks. But, uh, I doubt you brought us here just to congratulate us. So, what’s this really about?" I inquired with a grimace.

"Very well, let us cut to the chase. It seems we...miscalculated. Thus, we will need to make certain adjustments to the rules of the trial," Spoke up Uranus.

"B-But that’s not fair!" Blurted out Alkimia indignantly.

"Yeah, just because we defeated Baraqiel more easily than you expected us to, you-...," I began.

"Enough. This trial is a mercy, we could easily just end your existences here and now, so I would not complain if I were you. However, I do acknowledge that this is an unfair turn of events, so in return, we shall also make a few favorable changes to the rules," Stated Chronos.

Damn it...we have no choice but to go along with this.

"Alright, then. What changes are you going to make?" I responded hesitantly.
