Chapter 691: Chapter 691: Baraqiel Baraqijal (Part 9)
I shot towards Baraqiel as Ira’s blast dazed him, zipping up above him as I closed in and grabbed the top of his head, unleashing several Mana Pulses along with Slumber.
I simultaneously manifested Drain, attempting to consume the Mana around his Halo and-...what? The jaws of Drain are getting warped around the Halo...I see, it isn’t simply raw Mana he’s cloaked his Halo with, it’s some kind of spatial distortion effect. If even Obliterate and Drain can’t get through, it seems I can’t take any shortcuts here, my only option is to keep wearing down his MP.
I then tightened my grip and triggered as many more Mana Pulses as I could, before letting go and flying back as he unleashed a concentrated blast of lightning around himself.
"Th-That attack...," He growled, trembling as he regenerated, healing visibly slower than before.
Hm, the physical impact of Mana Pulse seems to be minimal compared to previous victims of the technique, he hasn’t physically slowed down as a result of being hit with it. That said...
"I see, Mana Pulse disrupts the efficiency of your Mana consumption. The more I disrupt the flow of your Mana with it, the more Mana you’ll use up to regenerate. Not to mention that it clearly slows down your regeneration. Even if it doesn’t otherwise compromise you physically, that’s more than significant," I replied, as he slowly got some distance away from me, his gaze shifting about as he kept an eye on the others.
While Mana Pulse isn’t slowing him down, the effects of my other Skills definitely are. Between Slumber and Lethargy, the sharpness of his movements have definitely dulled, and then there’s the twenty-five percent debuff from Spite.
That debuff will wear off in about three minutes, and he’ll regain his Status Effect Immunity in a little over two minutes, we should make full use of that time and exhaust as much of his Mana as we possibly can.
Suddenly, Baraqiel triggered a blinding flash of light. I closed my eyes right in the nick of time, quickly opening them to see him rushing towards Ciel. I swiftly chased after him, as he took aim and fired out a blast of lightning at her.
A look of frustration appeared on his face as the blast phased right through her and hit the ground behind her with a crackling crash, right as I closed in on him and slashed at the back of his neck, lopping his head off.
I fired out Obliterate at his Halo, but the blast warped around the glowing ring without hitting it, before a powerful force struck my stomach, eliciting a sharp gasp from me as Baraqiel slammed his foot against my stomach as his head grew back.
As I got sent hurtling back through the air, Acedia and Ira zipped up on either side of Baraqiel. Acedia drove his claws towards the right side of the Angel’s head, Baraqiel reaching out and grabbing his wrist before his claws could reach.
He then swung Acedia across as Ira began to fire out a charged up mass of Ether, slamming Acedia straight onto Ira before firing out a piercing beam of concentrated lightning, shooting through the both of them and destroying them.
I began to get some distance as Spirit Fusion with Avaritia began to reach its time limit, grimacing as Baraqiel unleashed a volley of light blasts at me. I raced away as Spirit Fusion wore off, Avaritia jumping out in front of me and shielding me from a couple of incoming blasts, her body getting destroyed.
I manifested Drain and began to expand the jaws in front of myself, one of the blasts hitting my stomach and sending me hurtling back through the air with a sharp gasp as blood gushed out of my stomach.
As my back hit the ground and skidded back, mom rushed in towards Baraqiel as he shot towards Cleo, as she reached the limit of her Spirit Fusion too.
Baraqiel kept mom at bay with a vicious, crackling streak of dancing lightning, veering across as Cleo fired out a blast of Negative Energy at him, evading the blast. He then put on a burst of speed with a powerful flap of his wings as Ciel unleashed a volley of explosions at him, narrowing avoiding her attacks before forming a blade of light as he closed in on Cleo.
She began to form a wall of ice in front of herself, but the light blade cut right through it, before plunging into her heart. She let out a sharp gasp as she coughed out blood with an agonized wheeze, before he grabbed the top of her head with his other hand and unleashed a burst of lightning, a bright electric flash erupting out.
Cleo’s body went limp, her arms slumping to her sides as the top of her head got charred to ash, wisps of smoke billowing out as Baraqiel tossed her body away.
"No!" Exclaimed mom in dismay, as a rapid explosive blast came shooting out towards Baraqiel.
He leapt up and above the blast with a flap of his wings, the attack exploding as it hit a pile of rubble a few meters away.
"<Descent>," I chanted, my power surging as my wings, horns and tail manifested, the whites of my eyes turning black.
"Just a third of my Mana remains, you humans have turned out to be a lot more formidable than I’d anticipated. But it doesn’t matter. I’ve killed one of you, and I know I can kill at least one more. So-...," Smirked Baraqiel, as he turned his gaze to me.
"<Phoenix Resurrection>."
"What?!" Baraqiel blurted out as a towering pillar of flames erupted behind him, Cleo slowly rising to her feet as she regenerated.
"<Monstrification>," She chanted, her power exploding as she transformed.
A mix of fiery orange, electric blue, aqua blue, icy blue and airy green scales appeared all over her limbs, torso and face. Her eyes turned green and began glowing, the same hue as a Basilisk’s petrifying beams. Her hair spiked up as wings grew out of her back, with a mix of fiery orange, electric blue and airy green feathers.
A tail grew out of her lower back with a snake head at the end, her teeth and nails extending into razor-sharp fangs and claws. Her arms bulked up as her hands turned into scythes, a forked tongue flicking out of her mouth.
She narrowed her eyes at him, firing out a pair of petrifying beams, which he quickly veered across to evade. I unleashed a barrage of Negative Energy blasts as Ciel fired out a massive explosive sphere at him, propelling it with wind.
As Baraqiel weaved through the air to evade our attacks, loud blasts and crashes ringing out around him, Ciel snapped her mouth open and unleashed a deafening sonic screech.
With the rest of our attacks boxing him in, Baraqiel couldn’t get out of the way, his expression twisting sharply as the deafening blast of sound engulfed him and severely dazed him...
