Chapter 2325: Consecration
Even though they didn’t do anything to drive me out in the end, I just couldn’t remain in that church anymore.
After all, the news that spread after what happened with the statue really did make it hard for me to stay in this place.
"Consecration as a saint lord."
That was the news that spread in an instant across the Holy Empire.
It wasn’t something that anyone was against, in fact it seemed like many people were speaking up for more than this. But this was the only thing that came out in the end from the capital of the Holy Empire.
As for who was being consecrated as a saint lord...
Who else would it be except for the person whose statue gave an oracle?
But the saint lord status was not a simple one and it certainly was not one that was given easily.
In the Holy Empire, it was something that was only given to someone that had a very special status.
In short, it was the status that was given to those that were recognized as future gods.
Though for now, it was usually a title that was saved for those that were known as demigods.
I was surprised that they would give this kind of title to me since I wasn’t a demigod yet, but it didn’t seem like there was any hesitation when they announced this consecration. I didn’t know what those popes saw when they came to see me, but it seemed to make up their minds on the matter.
At the same time, it wasn’t as if I could stop them since it was something that was done by the Holy Empire.
To deny something like this could even escalate to turn this matter into an international incident.
In a way, they were almost forcing me to accept this title...
But regardless of what they were hoping to accomplish with this, it really made things too awkward for me to remain in the Holy Empire.
If it was discovered that I had been posing as a priest in a random church, there was no doubt that it would have caused a large commotion. At the same time, this was something that the Holy Empire might even want to happen since they would be able to benefit from it.
In short, it just felt too unsafe to remain in the Holy Empire after this.
Though with this, I could tell that the connections that came from all over the place were getting stronger. It felt like after the Holy Empire announced this, the faith that came from them all became much stronger than it was before.
With this faith, I could sense that the divine energy that was inside of me was also getting much stronger. If I had to compare it, it was already ten times greater than what I possessed previously and that still wasn’t an accurate estimate.
I honestly had no idea just how strong the divine energy that I possessed now was.
There was a part of me that even wondered if it was able to compare to some of the weaker gods.
I couldn’t even truly see the bottom of my own power.
But that didn’t matter since I still knew how strong the last of the Four Omens was.
It was only the passive aura that it released and that had far surpassed War at its full power. There really was no telling just how far its power could go.
At my current level, I really had no confidence to face Death.
Though before leaving, there was one thing that the friends that I made along the way handed me.
"Wherever you go, remember that you will always be one of us."
When they said this, it wasn’t as if they were telling me that I was part of their church.
Rather, they were telling me that I was a part of their religion. It was just that this wasn’t a religion that I wanted to belong to since it was one that worshipped me in the first place.
The thing that they gave me was even a portrait of me that they had painted.
It was something that they wanted me to pray to...
But to pray to something that had my face on it, it really felt a bit narcissistic...
It certainly wasn’t something that I wanted to do.
However, it wasn’t as if I could just reject the present that they gave me with sincerity.
Only to take something that had my face on it...
It once again reminded me just how deep their faith was that they had even prepared something like this. After all, it wasn’t as if it had been long that it had been announced that I was leaving.
This was something that they had prepared in less than a day.
With the details that were in this painting, it was clearly not something that they had made in a day. This was something that they had made a long time ago and had been saving this entire time.
I even couldn’t help wondering just how many copies they had made and were holding to give to others...
It went to show just how much financial power the people that worshipped me had if they could prepare something like this. Though it was possible that it might be because there were talented people as well among them.
No matter how I thought about it, I really couldn’t understand how they had all come together to worship me like this.
Perhaps the only explanation was that it was because this was the nation of religion that this happened. Because they were prone to worshipping things to begin with, it naturally allowed them to form this religion...
This matter wasn’t one that just spread in the Holy Empire, it was a matter that spread all over the continent.
Which was why I had to find a place to hide away.
"It should be quiet under the sea."
