Chapter 2314: Drawing them in (2)

"Why would they even be drawn to a place like this?" I asked myself in a confused voice.

After all, it didn’t make sense for these things to attack this place.

Even if this place was slowly recovering, it wasn’t as if there was anything that was currently here worth attacking. The recovery process was still far from finished and the land itself wasn’t filled with that much vitality.

Which was why it was a place that still had very poor resources and made no sense to attack.

"It shouldn’t have been nearly enough to alert them..." I said while shaking my head before raising my hand, "Still, I should help before they get hurt."

The soldiers were doing their best to fight against these monsters, but it wasn’t as if they were prepared to fight against them.

Just like everyone else, they didn’t think that the corruption energy monsters would target this place. Which was why they didn’t bring that many weapons that could be used to deal with them.

They had brought the bare minimum just in case, but they didn’t even carry these weapons with them since it was so unlikely that the corruption energy monsters would attack this place.

With a wave of my hand, there was a wall of flames that appeared between the corruption energy monsters and the soldiers.

The soldiers were caught off guard by the flames that suddenly appeared, but they didn’t do anything to this wall of flames since they could tell that these weren’t normal flames.

These flames didn’t even burn them when they touched them and they could feel the faint holy sensation that came from them.

Since they were soldiers that had fought the corruption energy monsters before, they naturally knew what the sensation of holy magic was like. They even brought these weapons with them and had used them before.

Which was why they just weren’t troubled by the flames that were in front of them.

In fact, they couldn’t help turning to look at me with strange looks after these flames appeared.

But slowly it seemed like they accepted this.

"He’s the specialist that had been sent to reclaim this land, it’s only natural that he would be able to use this kind of power or else how could he reclaim the land?"

That was the gist of how they looked at me.

I didn’t bother explaining as I said, "Go and make sure that the other parts of this village are secure."

The guards looked like they had something else to say, but they couldn’t say it in the end when they saw the way that I looked at them. It wasn’t hard for them to figure out what I was implying with my gaze and it wasn’t as if they could say anything to refute this.

After all, the difference in ability was right in front of them.

When it was laid out in front of them like this, there really wasn’t anything that they could do to keep fighting against it.

In the end, they followed my orders and moved away to protect the village.

Though from the determined looks on their faces, it really seemed like they were planning on getting the weapons that they had left behind and seeing if they could do anything.

Regardless of what they were going to do, it wasn’t as if that mattered.

At my level, it was easy for me to destroy these corruption energy monsters with just a single wave of my hand. Corruption energy monsters of this level just simply didn’t pose any threat to me at all.

The only reason that I kept them alive still wasn’t because I was interested in what drew them.

Well, that was a part of it as well.

The reason that I kept them alive was...

"They’re gone." Once I saw that the soldiers were gone from this place, I released the flames that had been gathered.

To be honest, these flames weren’t strong at all since they were just flames that I had randomly created with my divine energy. It wasn’t as if they were specialized flames like the ones that were created with relics.

In terms of power, it was much weaker than those powerful relic flames.

Even so, it was still more than enough to threaten and scare these corruption energy monsters.

But right now, there was something else that I wanted to test.

Once the flames disappeared, the corruption energy monsters seemed to understand that I was the biggest threat at this moment. They only hesitated for a second before they started charging at me.

"It doesn’t seem like they have any idea of letting this place go." I muttered to myself when I saw the actions of the corruption energy monsters.

This did draw more questions as I didn’t know what was driving them to be this determined in attacking this place.

Still it didn’t matter since I could get that answer later.

Right now, I just calmly pressed a button on the stopwatch that was in my hand.

The moment that I pressed this button, it was as if the world around me froze.

That included the corruption energy monsters that had been flying through the air at me. There wasn’t a single one of them that had been able to escape this as they were all trapped by this zone released by the stopwatch.

It seemed like they were completely frozen there, but one could see that this wasn’t the case.

After all, it seemed like there was something that was clashing with the surface of these corruption energy monsters. It was as if there was something that was being erased by the corruption energy that came from their body.

Even so, this effect wasn’t strong enough that they were able to break free of the time stop zone. It wasn’t even strong enough that they were able to make any partial movements.

The only thing that seemed to move was their eyes that were looking at me.
