Chapter 239: Chapter 239: The Ge Clan is Staying the Fuck Out of This!
He explicitly commanded that the Ge Clan must completely pull out of the alliance with the Cao Clan!"
"He said if we take a single step into Crimson Iron City or interfere with the market war, he will personally come here and turn our estate into a mountain of corpses!"
Hearing this, Patriarch Ge let out a long, shuddering breath, slouching back into his reinforced throne.
For the first time in his life, he felt a profound, overwhelming sense of gratitude for his son’s cowardly, lustful nature.
If this arrogant brat had chosen to play the unyielding hero or throw a tantrum at death’s door, the Ge Clan would already be history.
"You did the right thing by running," the patriarch muttered, his voice trembling as he massaged his temples.
"Annulling the marriage arrangement is infinitely better than getting our entire bloodline massacred over a commercial dispute."
His mind raced, rapidly calculating the political fallout. He knew the Cao Clan was going to be completely destroyed by the Golden Cauldron after this betrayal, but he honestly didn’t give a damn anymore.
Sure, the Cao Clan legally possessed a Nascent Soul ancestor, but that old monster was at the absolute end of his natural lifespan.
The ancestor had been locked in a deep, death-seclusion for over a decade, desperately striving to achieve a breakthrough just to increase his remaining years by a fraction.
Unless someone directly breached his private cave or explicitly threatened his personal survival, that dying old man wouldn’t even blink an eye if his descendants were systematically slaughtered in the streets.
He certainly wasn’t going to crawl out of his grave to fight a young, vibrant Nascent Soul cultivator over a broken marriage contract.
As the rest of the day passed, Patriarch Ge lived in a state of suspended terror, balancing a deep, lingering fear of the green-robed monster with a profound relief that the expert wouldn’t pursue his clan further.
Meanwhile, Young Master Ge Xuan spent the entire evening furiously deflowering the male servants in his private quarters, desperately indulging his lust to relieve the suffocating fear and anxiety gripping his soul.
The next morning, a heavy, uneasy quiet still hung over the estate.
"Patriarch!"
Suddenly, a hurried guard burst into the grand hall, bowing so frantically his helmet nearly flew off his head.
"A core disciple from the Cao Clan has just arrived at our outer gates on a swift spirit-steed! He claims their market campaign is collapsing and demands to see you immediately to finalize the marriage contract!"
Patriarch Ge’s small eyes flashed with a cold, ruthless resolve. He adjusted his heavy jade rings and snorted disdainfully.
"Tell that messenger that Young Master Ge has suddenly fallen violently ill with a spiritual plague, and the marriage alliance is officially void!" the patriarch commanded sharply.
"Seal our borders! Lock the grand gates, and do not allow a single member of the Cao Clan to cross into our territory! Let them drown in their own blood, the Ge Clan is staying the fuck out of this!"
Down at the grand outer gates of the Ge Clan estate, the Cao Clan’s core disciple was practically vibrating with a frantic, desperate anxiety.
His spirit-steed was lathered in thick white sweat, its chest heaving from the brutal, nonstop sprint across the mountain passes.
The disciple’s own robes were covered in a thick layer of highway dust, his knuckles white as he tightly clutched the crimson-sealed scroll containing the pre-arranged marriage contract, the absolute last lifeline for his crumbling family.
When the heavy iron-reinforced gates groaned open a crack, the disciple didn’t see a welcoming committee of smiling elders.
Instead, the head guard stepped out, his face frozen in a completely detached, chillingly indifferent expression.
"The Patriarch has delivered his decree," the guard announced, his voice dropping like an absolute guillotine.
"Young Master Ge has suddenly been struck down by an incredibly virulent, highly contagious spiritual plague. For the safety of both our domains, the marriage alliance is officially void. You are to turn your beast around and leave Flowing Spring City immediately."
The Cao Clan disciple’s face went entirely pale, the blood draining from his lips so fast he looked like a corpse standing in the sun.
His jaw dropped, his eyes bulging out of his head as he stared at the guard in absolute, paralyzing disbelief.
"A... a spiritual plague?!" the disciple choked out, his voice cracking into a high-pitched, desperate shriek.
"Right now?! Today?! Are you insane?! Our primary dispensaries are being completely gutted by the Golden Cauldron at this very second! My Patriarch poured every single stone in our vaults into the morning market based on the absolute guarantee of your Ge Clan’s support!"
He forcefully thrust the crimson scroll forward, his hands trembling so violently the jade rollers clicked together like chattering teeth.
"Look at the seal! This is a binding agreement signed by both our houses! If you pull out now, the Cao Clan will go completely bankrupt by nightfall! Let me in! I must see Patriarch Ge myself—"
Clang!
With a heavy, thunderous roar, the massive iron gates were violently slammed shut directly in his face, the gust of wind knocking the disciple back a step.
Before he could even raise his fist to pound against the metal, a brilliant, interlocking grid of blue spiritual runes flared to life across the high stone walls.
The Ge Clan wasn’t just turning him away.
They were fully activating their Grand Defensive Array, sealing their entire territory off from the outside world.
The disciple collapsed heavily against the flank of his panting steed, the reality of the situation crashing into his chest like a physical hammer.
The Ge Clan’s excuse of a "spiritual plague" was a transparent, mocking insult.
They weren’t delayed; they were fleeing.
They had looked at the battlefield, calculated the risks, and actively chosen to leave the Cao Clan to hang alone on the scaffold.
A cold, hollow despair pooled in the disciple’s stomach.
He looked down at the useless contract in his hand, realizing with absolute certainty that he was carrying a dead family’s obituary back to Crimson Iron City.
