Chapter 6: Advancing On Josinia
Kalon opened his eyes and found himself back on the rooftop of the palace. The orange sky of Venduros lay above him.
The air was warm, making him feel at peace. For a moment, he just sat there, taking it all in.
I’m really here again...
Why do I feel more at home here than I do on Earth?
He stood up carefully and looked around. The glowing crystals on the tall buildings still shone softly. The floating carriages and horses moved in the distance below.
Before he could decide what to do next, the door to the inside opened.
Josinia stepped out quickly, her white curls bouncing. She wore the same maid outfit.
Her purple skin glowed faintly under the light, and Kalon couldn’t help but look at those hips...
Her eyes widened when she saw him.
"Kalon?" she said, rushing over. "You came back. I thought... I thought maybe it was a dream."
So did I...
She stopped right in front of him. Her smile widened as she looked him up and down. She was clearly very relieved to see him.

Kalon’s eyes widened as he read the reward for the new mission he had been given.
A Steel Pill!
It might not sound as impressive as an SSS-Rank skill, but it was.
On all planets, a pill needed to be consumed to reach the next rank.
However, pills stopped being dropped ever since the dungeons were cleared.
First-year students were not allowed to consume Steel Pills until the passed certain examinations. None of which had been held so far, as they were only a month or so into the first year.
With this, he could progress to the next rank ahead of everyone else in his year!
Kalon felt his heart beat faster, but he calmed himself down.
If I want the pill, I need to complete this mission...
He turned his attention back to Maid Josinia.
"Yeah. I’m back. I only get four hours a day here... I wanted to see you again."
Josinia glanced nervously toward the door, then back at him.
"Four hours? That’s not much time. Come inside quickly. The Princess is busy with her star charts again, but the guards still patrol."
She took his hand. Her touch was warm and soft.
Kalon let her lead him down the narrow glowing stairs and into the servant quarters.
The room looked the same. There was a simple bed, a crystal lamp, and a window overlooking the city.
Josinia closed the door and locked it. She leaned against it for a second, breathing out.
"I kept thinking about yesterday. About how you just... faded away. And about your hand..."
Her cheeks blushed a darker purple. She didn’t finish the sentence.
Straight to the point...
Kalon nervously sat on the edge of the bed.
"I-I’m sorry about that. I didn’t mean to touch you there. But... I’m glad you didn’t hate it."
Josinia walked over and sat beside him. Their shoulders brushed. She was close enough that he could smell something sweet on her.

Kalon swallowed. He was still bad at this, but the System made things feel possible.
"Well, I think they’re missing out... If I was a Vendurian, I’d cherish women like you. You’re hot."
Josinia tilted her head and looked at him, confused.
"Hot...? What does that mean?"

They talked for a while. Josinia asked more questions about Earth and the blue planet.
Kalon told her about the academy, the bullies, and how weak he used to feel.
He kept some details about the System to himself for now.
She listened carefully. Every time he spoke about his old life, her expression softened.

Time passed faster than he wanted. Almost an hour had already gone by. But at least he was making progress.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded in the hallway outside. Josinia tensed.
"Someone’s coming," she whispered. "Hide under the bed again. I’ll try to send them away."
Kalon moved quickly, squeezing into the tight space. Dust tickled his nose, but he stayed quiet.
Josinia smoothed her uniform and opened the door.
It was the same woman from yesterday. She seemed to be the head maid.
"The Princess wants you to bring fresh star tea to the observation room. Hurry."
Josinia nodded.
"I’ll be right there."
The door closed, then Josinia crouched down and looked under the bed.
"I have to go for a bit," she said softly. "Stay here. I’ll come back as soon as I can. We still have a bit of time, right?"
Kalon hesitated for a few moments.
"Actually, I was hoping to explore the planet a bit more. I’m not sure if I’ll be here when you get back."
The answer made Josinia’s face lose its smile for a moment.
She couldn’t remember the last time she had enjoyed spending time with someone so much.
"Will I get to see you again?" she asked.
The two were standing close to each other now. Kalon could see deep into her beautiful pink eyes.
"Yes, I promise."
...
The two stood there silently for a few seconds. Kalon wanted to take his chances and kiss her.
However, he didn’t know how romance worked here on Venduros. What if kissing wasn’t a thing?
Just as he had that thought, he saw the woman close her eyes slightly and lean forward. Her plump red lips were puckered and glistened slightly.
Shit... It’s actually happening?
