Chapter 423: A Chance to Bloom [300 GT Bonus]

Grey let out a relieved sigh, picking at his teeth with a pointed wooden stick.

He sat on the couch of a luxury hotel, his feet up, his ass pleasantly washed. It had been a while since he felt so comfortable. Now, he was well rested and well fed.

’Time to get to business.’

"Alright." Grey clapped. "Put your cloak on."

"You’re talking to me?" Amunet asked, cleaning off her own plate.

She ate slow. Painfully slowly. Grey had probably eaten enough for 20 body builders and she had only just finished off the first plate. Even Mauve ate faster than she did, and Mauve certainly needed a lot less energy considering the gap in their strengths.

"Usually I ask them to take their clothes off, but this time, yes."

Amunet rolled her eyes. "Do you know the abilities of the cloak?"

"I know enough to know that it’s going to be the only thing that stops us from being smited by their fake Goddess, so yes. Put it on. I want to sense your Frame."

The cloak Grey was speaking of was, of course, the very same one Amunet had backstabbed him for. Ironically enough, aside from reading its description once, he had never even laid eyes on the cloak beyond the first moment. For whatever reason, Amunet didn’t actually wear it.

Though, Grey had a feeling that it was somewhat related to the shadows that often covered her.

Amunet had had those shadows before she even got the cloak in the first place. However, she had said herself that she had two of the three pieces of the legacy before Grey gave her the crown. So, logically, she had gotten the first part on her own at some point. That would explain her eagerness to get the second part.

Right now, Amunet wasn’t wearing said cloak. It was perfect at shrouding her aura, so logically, she should have it on at all times. But they had been under a lot of scrutiny from The Boundless, so she had chosen not to.

Now, Grey was asking her to put it back on.

As expected, when Amunet stopped messing around and put it back on, it was, indeed, the cloak of shadows.

The first time Grey saw it, he felt it was impossible for her to have had the stamina to keep it up all the time. He had concluded back then that it had to be a treasure, and it turned out that he was right.

Just one part of the treasure, but the treasure nonetheless.

"Good. Now activate your Frame."

Amunet nodded and a suffocating power spread out.

Grey felt his heart skip a beat.

Right now, Amunet was still in the Proving Class. She hadn’t even raised her Abilities to Cyber Sync yet. Logically, there was no reason he should feel this much pressure from her. But, he did.

Grey grinned. This was exactly what he was expecting and it was the only reason he had gone and done all of this in the first place.

She was going to be his ticket to improving Dark Solveign and his Vampire Lord Frame even further. That was going to be the core of everything here.

Name: Kin of the Cult

Rarity: Legendary (CURSED) (LIMITED)

Accepted Type: Linear; Branching; Recursive

Rejected Type: Resonant

Description: ...

Abilities: Obscure Cult affiliation. Kin of the Cult Frame Lineage. +50 to ALL stats.

The precise abilities of the Kin of the Cult cloak was in its ability to obscure one’s affiliation with the Dark Kin and the Cult. Grey still wasn’t sure what the "Cult" was and only had inklings, but he knew they were all tied together.

After combining with the Crown and the first piece of the inheritance, the description that Grey knew of had definitely gotten far stronger.

He couldn’t see it right now because it was bonded to Amunet and the entire point was its ability to obscure, but he could see the differences already.

Now... Amunet had a crown of shadows above her head as well. It hovered there like a halo of darkness. At the same time, her cloak of shadows itself had changed and sometimes the flickering outline of fallen angel wings would form an outline to her back.

It was beautiful in an evil and dark sort of way.

Grey didn’t know what he was expecting when it happened, but his gaze almost immediately went vacant.

Amunet suddenly moved, leaping forward.

Brad and Mauve had no idea what was going on, and Grey was in too much of a daze to react.

Grey was lost in another land entirely, his mind locked away in a stream of endless insights.

Like he had said, he had no idea what to expect when this happened. He felt that if Ma Famille was going to have obvious results, it should have had them already. Activating her Frame should have some positive effect, but nothing exaggerated.

He was wrong.

It was more than exaggerated. It was so widespread and suffocating that it felt like every circuit in his mind was being overloaded by those insights.

The world faded away to him, and even his other Frames themselves became small.

All he could feel was darkness, and in the far off distance, there was a small point of light. A point of light that could have only come from Prometheus and nothing else.

Grey started to walk forward, his mind in an absent spiral as he fell deeper and deeper into an abyss he couldn’t even see the bottom of.

There was nothing but the Fog of Chaos around him, heavy and deep, endless and unfathomable.

He began to mumble, his words coming out in incoherent streams.

Thoughts of destruction and the eradication of the world filled him. It was what had to happen.

There could be no life without death, no light without darkness, no happiness without sadness, no contentment without a raging, undying, endless greed to devour all there was.

Sometimes...

The world just needed to be reset to give it another chance to bloom.
