Chapter 392: Bringing Light

Grey had to squint just to make it through the animation. And that was saying something considering his ability to be a blazing sun right now was the only reason they could even see what was going on down here. Otherwise, it would be nothing but pitch black everywhere.

A pair of white gloves appeared and Grey couldn’t help but blink.

For one, this was the last sort of thing he expected to see out of a Dark Kin reward sequence. But second, he already had pimp gloves, he didn’t need a second pair. He wondered if this would interfere with his current mechs.

He had designed the Steel-Toe Shrouds to interact with his Shadow Forces, but he hadn’t done the same for his Pimp Gloves.

’If it’s worthwhile I’ll see if I can modify it. Otherwise, maybe I should try for one of those auctions and actually sell some stuff properly.’

"Long ass name..."

Description: The Bringing Light Puppeteer is a rare hero of the past, an existence who used his control over light to bring order and majesty to the world. Once a member of the Old Ones, he broke free of the control of the darkness and the Fog of Chaos to forge his own path, taking the dark and eerie puppeteering abilities of his Race and forging it into something beautiful and majestic.

Abilities:

Light Bringer: Accumulate large amounts of light elemental energy

Bringing Light Puppeteer Lineage

Grey raised an eyebrow. It was a Lineage? Interesting.

Now that he thought about it, a lot of these Dark Kin did have these weird puppeteering abilities.

Back in the Instance where he first faced the younger version of Bishop Calixan, he had entered this mode where his body seemed to have begun to be controlled by an external force. When he fought Bishop Calixan in the present, that happened once again, but this time there was an actual physical hand above his head.

Then there was Amunet and the Old One who all seemed obsessed with hands.

If Grey was correct, with a great enough level of control, they could probably borrow the strength of the Ancestors to fuel their bodily strength.

But this Bringing Light Puppeteer did this in a different way. But once again, if Grey was correct, and he usually seemed to be these days, this Lineage was just another slate of skills that he would have to learn.

And he hadn’t even had the time to learn from the witch’s tome yet, and that was despite the fact the Blood Witch Lineage would make his Vampire Lord Frame several times more powerful.

As far as he could tell, this Bringing Light Puppeteer Lineage didn’t have much to do with his own Lineages at all.

’Sell it?’

Grey suddenly froze as he came to a realization. He almost missed something.

He looked at the first line of abilities again.

He had glossed over it because he didn’t feel like he had any light elemental abilities. But... was that true?

No. That wasn’t true at all.

In fact, technically speaking, he was a step beyond just using light, he was light. His Dark Solveign Frame was quite literally that.

’Ah, fuck...’

Grey scratched his head.

Maybe one of these days he’d have enough time to sit down and actually learn these things.

After some thought, Grey decided to give it a chance. He let his original pimp gloves disappear into pixels and then slipped these new gloves on just to see what would happen.

There was a pulse and then the Gloves grew larger to fit his hands properly. At first, there was some webbing between his fingers and he almost made fun of whoever created the things for having small hands. But that was rectified quickly.

And the moment it was, Grey felt a pulse run through him.

His hand passed through the air and a trail of golden light followed it. He could feel some resonance not just with his Dark Solveign Frame, but even while it wasn’t active, Grey could feel an echo of reassurance and eagerness coming from his Last Paladin Frame as well.

’Oh... that counts as light too? That makes no fucking sense.’

Grey was well aware of the Holy Knight and Light Elemental control stereotype. But those were just comic books and video games or whatever. After using the Frame himself, though, he didn’t feel like there was much overlap between Holy Energy and actual light.

Holy Energy was almost like an intense cleansing energy that took the form of a bright light, but it hadn’t felt like actual light itself. It didn’t make him super fast, and it didn’t wane based on day and night.

So this was definitely an interesting shift.

’Did I miss something, maybe. Or...’ Grey’s gaze flickered. Maybe it wasn’t that he had misunderstood the Last Paladin Frame, but instead that he wasn’t yet seeing the full scope of the Bringing Light Puppeteer.

’Interesting.’

Grey turned his hands over. The gloves didn’t feel like they were separate from him at all. Though it definitely wasn’t his skin now, it felt like it was. He could see them, but he couldn’t feel them, and the breeze hit his hands just the same.

Grey suddenly raised his hands like he was conducting and all the light around him suddenly shifted, forming into thin, pulsing lines.

’Holy shit.’

On instinct, Grey flicked out with his wrist.

His Solveign and Holy Energy pooled together seamlessly as though all light was now under his perfect and undivided control.

Then the world fragmented into pieces that almost looked like shattering glass. But in reality...

All of his light had concentrated into lines so thin they filled the world and then cut across everything.

The arms around him, for hundreds of meters, trembled just a single time before they were cut into thousands of pieces, their flesh and blood falling in a thick rain.
