Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Changes in the Trading Hall, I Can Fly

It wasn’t until after Ethan Yardley’s time was up and he returned that he had an idea. ’Maybe I can have my sister join my Mercenary Company, get her to my region, and then have her leave. That way, I won’t have to worry about her being bullied over there, right?’

The moment he had this idea, he called Faye Yardley to tell her.

Faye Yardley’s expression was complicated. "You should probably take a closer look at the terms and conditions. Did you even have time to read the hidden clauses after you created the company? Pull them up and look carefully. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up."

This wasn’t like the old games where you could join just by getting an invitation and leave without so much as a word.

Faye Yardley didn’t know the specifics either, but she remembered the novel mentioning that once you joined a team, it was next to impossible to leave. Plus, a percentage of her gains would have to be turned over to the team as a development fund.

’No way. The last thing I want is to end up supporting an entire team by myself.’

Besides, people were experts at guilt-tripping. Once she joined a team, others wouldn’t necessarily tolerate it if she refused to do certain things.

Socializing could be simple, but it could also be incredibly complicated.

Faye Yardley preferred to keep things simple.

Besides, if she focused on her own development, she could be a safety net for her brother.

After washing up, she changed into some loungewear. Her room was now kept warm not just by the fireplace, but by the air conditioner as well.

After feeding a small dried fish to the Bronze Cat Statue on the mantelpiece, Faye Yardley sat down on the sofa.

Her eyes fell on the cross-region fixed-contact telephone on the coffee table. ’It was a 10,000-point item, after all. Even though it can only be set to one person, you can still filter by name and avatar to pick exactly who you want to contact.’

Now that her brother was in the same region, the telephone had reverted to its unused state.

’I might as well recoup some of my investment in it.’

’Besides, Zachary Pierce and his people will definitely need it.’

So she left him a message: "Mr. Pierce, need this? It’s a great item for selecting a fixed contact across regions. [Photo]"

He called back quickly. "We need it. Also, I’d like to buy some information. How did you get the Energy Protection Tower Blueprint? Is that information for sale?"

Faye Yardley let out an "ah." "I’ll give you that for free. It just came from a Silver Treasure Chest."

"Opening treasure chests is just too random," Zachary Pierce couldn’t help but sigh. He had been hoping to hear it was something that could be redeemed from a Dungeon’s Point Shop.

"With your strength, Mr. Pierce, you probably don’t need one, do you?"

"A few of my elders need one."

"Oh."

"Right, that telephone. What do you want for it?"

Faye Yardley herself didn’t have much need for other items. After all, it was unlikely anyone else was wealthier than her.

After thinking for a moment, she said, "I’ll trade it for specific information on some people."

Zachary Pierce thought for a moment and then said gravely, "There’s information about some people that I can’t just disclose to you."

Faye Yardley quickly waved her hand. "You’ve misunderstood, Mr. Pierce. I want you to help me look into the other members of my brother’s team. See if they have any criminal records or anything like that."

"Alright."

Faye Yardley could clearly feel him relax on the other end. She sent the telephone over via a Red Envelope right away.

She wasn’t worried that Zachary Pierce would go back on his word or try to fob her off with some useless information.

’Thinking of the ’elders’ Zachary Pierce mentioned,’ Faye Yardley thought, ’those definitely aren’t ordinary elders. Otherwise, why not just bring them onto his own raft to protect them and be done with it?’

’What if they’re the leaders?’

’After all, not all leaders are old. Fifty is the prime of middle age, when a person’s drive is at its peak.’

’Right now it’s just cold, not yet extremely cold. In fact, after getting the Energy Tower, the temperature on my raft is actually a bit higher than outside.’

’The Energy Protection Shield can block out some of the cold, so naturally it can also block out heat. This must be its most basic function. Its main purpose must still be protection.’

’This blueprint has no other use for me other than to be exchanged for supplies, and I’m not short on supplies right now, so...’

"Mr. Pierce, I have another Energy Protection Tower Blueprint. I don’t know what I need right now, but when I do have a request, just try your best to prioritize it."

After hearing Faye Yardley’s request, Zachary Pierce straightened up, coming to attention, and gave her a salute.

"Yardley, thank you. That barely even counts as a request."

After exchanging a few more words, they hung up, and Faye Yardley sent the blueprint over.

If she could do something for her country, Faye Yardley was actually willing.

Before long, Faye Yardley received a Red Envelope from Zachary Pierce.

After accepting it, she found all sorts of weapons inside (a Wolf Tooth Hammer, a golden hook, a High Level Iron Axe, etc., and even a machine gun with over a thousand rounds of ammunition), and knowing she had a planting room, he had also included fifteen different types of vegetable and grain seeds.

Faye Yardley handed the seeds to Willow Yardley. "Willow, could you please take these to Eamon and have him see to planting them? Tell him to plant as many potatoes as possible."

"Okay, Sister."

That took care of two matters at once.

Her gaze turned to the screen opposite her, which was as lively as ever.

[Thank you, master! I found my family member! I can’t believe we were two regions apart. We were in the same house at the time, just in different rooms.]

[The regional trading hall has changed. Aren’t you guys going to go experience the joy of being packed like sardines?]

[Just got back. It’s incredible! I could walk right through other people’s bodies. Is the game clipping?]

[Dumbass, you’re entering via astral projection. Your physical body is still on the raft. The system is letting you truly experience what a Nascent Soul from a cultivation world is capable of.]

Faye Yardley let out a sound of surprise, then called out to the system, "Go to the trading hall."

In an instant, she was in a place teeming with people and buzzing with a cacophony of voices. It wasn’t just crowded; many people were simply overlapping with each other, which looked quite terrifying.

Faye Yardley thought about flying, and she actually floated up lightly, hovering above everyone’s heads. Only then did she let out a small sigh of relief. ’So many people. This is terrifying.’

Seeing her fly, others tried to copy her. Some even flapped their arms furiously, but it was, of course, futile.

Not many of them were able to fly.

Seeing someone flying toward her, Faye Yardley immediately exited the trading hall.

’The trading hall is a little too terrifying now,’ she thought. ’I have no desire to do any face-to-face trades.’

Fortunately, the system still provided the old trading interface, so it wasn’t mandatory to go to that trading hall.

[Hahaha, so you can fly in the trading hall! This is so fun, it feels awesome!]

[Why can’t most of us fly? Is this game discriminating against us?]

[Is this your first day feeling discriminated against? Discrimination has always been a feature.]

[Fuck, shut up, you damn jinx! How have you not frozen to death yet?]

[Bleh! I got free wood from the region merge and saved my precarious Fire Pit.]

"Sister, someone’s coming this way."

Faye Yardley leaped up from the sofa. "Let’s go take a look."
