Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Dungeon 1, The Raft’s New Crisis

Faye Yardley didn’t linger on Logan Langdon’s raft. After exchanging information, she said her goodbyes.

Honestly, Logan Langdon felt a wave of relief. She hadn’t asked to see his production workshop or breeding room, which put him at ease.

He wasn’t keen on letting anyone know exactly what was inside.

It’s one thing to showcase your strength, but another to reveal all your cards.

Faye Yardley’s departure was effortless. On her way back, she even intentionally took a different route, curious if she might run into anyone else.

She picked up two wooden crates on the way, but she didn’t see the dark shadow under the ice again. If she had, she wouldn’t have minded breaking the ice to kill the monster.

After all, she was still short on Energy Stones.

Upon returning safely to her own raft, Willow Yardley immediately rushed out to meet her. "Faye, you’re back! Did you find the other raft?"

"Yeah, I found it. I even went aboard," Faye Yardley said, hopping onto the raft. "They’re developing really fast. I’m planning to head to Dungeon 1 this afternoon, so I’m leaving everything here in your hands."

"Okay. Go on inside and get ready before you set out."

Just after she finished her meal, she received a Red Envelope from Zachary Pierce. It contained 100 regular Arrows.

After accepting the Red Envelope, she saw Zachary Pierce was calling her.

"Yardley, I haven’t gotten any arrows with special effects yet. For now, you can use these regular ones for practice."

"Okay, thanks, Mr. Pierce. Your timing is perfect. I was planning to check out Dungeon 1 in a little while. Oh, and Dungeon 1 is about killing zombies, too. I already got that information from Logan Langdon."

"Logan Langdon? Don’t tell me you ran into his raft?"

"That’s right. He came out to explore the area after the ice froze over and was the first to spot my raft. I didn’t let him get close, though. In fact, I ended up finding his raft later. I went aboard for a look—it’s a Level Five Raft, and he already has an automated production workshop and a breeding room."

"That was reckless, boarding someone else’s raft like that. You should avoid doing that in the future. You never know what people are thinking, or if they have some kind of item on their raft that can be used to control you."

"Oh, got it. Thanks for the warning, Mr. Pierce. I’ll be more careful from now on."

Faced with such an agreeable Faye Yardley, Zachary Pierce didn’t know what else to say. After offering a few more words of caution, he sent her another Red Envelope.

This time, it contained: Trauma Medicine ×1, Hemostatic Pill ×1, Bandage ×1.

Faye Yardley accepted it without hesitation, sending a quick "thank you."

Then, ’I might not make it back to the raft today,’ she thought, and made a cross-zone call to her brother.

But no one answered on the other end. He had probably left his raft to go explore.

Faye Yardley didn’t dwell on it. She simply hung up and started organizing her backpack.

Dungeon 1 was a solo dungeon about killing zombies. She estimated she could stay for up to three days, so she decided to prepare five days’ worth of food and water for herself.

The moment she mentioned it, Willow started getting the supplies ready.

With Arrows now in hand, she packed her Longbow.

She changed into practical clothing and shoes, then packed everything she thought she might need.

After all, she was already very experienced when it came to killing zombies.

Once everything was ready, Faye Yardley took out the Dungeon 1 Invitation Card and stated, "Use Invitation Card."

A system prompt appeared. [The Dungeon 1 Invitation Card is a solo invitation card and can be activated. Are you sure you want to enter?]

"Yes."

[Please prepare. Commencing ten-second countdown: 10, 9... 2, 1.]

The scene before her changed, and Faye Yardley found herself in a small room. Outside the wooden door, she could hear the roars of zombies.

Hearing the familiar sound, she felt a faint thrill of excitement.

Faye Yardley held her long blade in one hand and reached for the doorknob with the other. Without the slightest hesitation, she pushed the door open and stepped out.

The moment she opened the door, a zombie right outside caught the scent of a living person. It turned to lunge at her, but her blade was faster than its claws.

Beheaded in a single stroke!

The system’s notification followed.

[Dungeon 1 Completion Method 1: Eliminate more than 60% of the zombies in the dungeon.]

[Dungeon 1 Completion Method 2: Survive here for two days.]

Faye Yardley raised an eyebrow. ’Solo dungeons really are easier,’ she thought.

The place she appeared in was clearly different from the hospital dungeon Logan Langdon had described. This place looked more like a large shopping mall.

’Can I just put well-packaged goods directly into my backpack?’

After killing three zombies in a row near the door, and before others could swarm her, Faye Yardley reached out and touched a product. A prompt immediately sounded: [This is a contaminated electronic device. The contamination can be removed by spending points. Do you wish to spend 2 points to remove the contamination (7/2)?]

"No."

’What a joke. This thing might not even be useful back on the raft. I’d have to be an idiot to spend points decontaminating it. It’d be better to just buy one from the Point Shop later. At least then I’d know it would actually work.’

’I wonder what would even play on a TV on the raft if I bought one.’

Since everything was contaminated, Faye Yardley skipped the electronics store. The moment she walked out, she was met head-on by two lunging zombies.

The mall’s layout severely restricted her movements, but then again, it restricted the zombies, too.

But there weren’t just one or two zombies. They appeared from all sorts of places—sometimes crawling out from behind shelves, sometimes dropping from the ceiling. It was impossible to guard against them from all sides.

But Faye Yardley was no longer a helpless, ordinary person. She was a survivor of the carnage in Dungeon 3, someone who firmly believed she would become one of the strong. As soon as she entered combat, all other thoughts vanished, leaving only one goal: kill zombies.

While Faye Yardley was in Dungeon 1, honing her skills by relentlessly killing zombies, her raft was about to face a new crisis—one beyond the encroaching ice.

[System Friendly Reminder 1: Dear players, starting at 2 PM, monsters will begin to randomly spawn outside your rafts. The monsters will actively attack the rafts. Please be prepared for battle and protect your raft.]

[Friendly Reminder 2: For players who have entered dungeons, monsters will temporarily not spawn around your rafts. We wish all players a pleasant time in The Survival World.]

The regional channel went wild over the two notifications.

Meanwhile, a transparent, inverted Energy Shield materialized out of thin air around Faye Yardley’s raft. The words "Dungeon 1" were displayed on it.

Willow Yardley glanced up. With that Energy Shield there, the raft was absolutely safe while Faye was away. She didn’t give it a second thought and turned her attention to the regional channel.

[Help! Why is this happening? I’m just a normal person, how am I supposed to kill monsters? With my skinny arms and legs?]

[This is basically the universe’s plan to wipe out humanity from Azure Star, isn’t it?]

[Instead of wasting your time complaining here, you should check the trading market for weapons. I bought a spear. Hope it helps. Even if I die, I want to die with dignity.]

[The Basic Iron Axes are all sold out, and you can’t even buy a normal wooden club anymore! You animals, leave some for the rest of us!]
