Chapter 171: Chapter 171: She Just Won by Lying Down

Dahlia White answered the call pretty quickly. After seeing the weather on her end, she became incredibly excited and said she wanted to come.

She wanted to come, but Faye Yardley had no intention of inviting her. Who knew what kind of trouble she’d stir up?

Perhaps sensing Faye’s reluctance, Dahlia White quickly said, "Faye, please, please, just let me come over. I promise I won’t cause any trouble for you guys. I can even help you get rid of these dark clouds. What do you say?"

"I’m not interested."

Faye didn’t believe her promise for a second. ’What is our relationship, anyway?’

’We’re not even casual friends.’

’The only reason I even thought to ask her was because she’s a Cloud Sprite.’

’Now that I know these clouds are abnormal and there’s going to be lightning and thunder soon, why would I need her to come over?’

"Faye, my coming over would truly be a win-win for everyone. You really won’t consider it?"

Seeing that Faye was about to hang up, Dahlia grew anxious. For her, this kind of extreme weather, with no other Cloud Sprites around, was an incredibly rare opportunity.

"Okay, how about this? I’ll give you one-fifth of the benefits I get."

Faye just stared at Dahlia without speaking. It wasn’t that she was unimpressed by the one-fifth share, but that she had no idea how significant the benefits would be.

Seeing her reaction, Dahlia put on a pained expression and said, "A quarter, max. I can’t go any higher. Any more than that and I won’t even want to come over."

Faye didn’t believe her, but a quarter was probably Dahlia’s limit. ’Otherwise, if her cut is too small, she probably won’t be motivated to do the work.’

"Fine. Then let’s sign a contract, and I’ll invite you over for half an hour."

"Half an hour?! How could you even say that? You humans are so stingy! What can I even eat in half an hour?"

Faye pretended to think for a moment before saying, "One hour, then. No more."

It couldn’t be helped. She only had a one-hour Invitation Card, and besides, she was worried something might go wrong if Dahlia stayed too long.

As for whether a local district Invitation Card could be used on a friend from All World Communication, Faye had already secretly tested it. It turned out she could enter their names without any issues.

’I don’t know if this counts as a system bug, but it’s really useful right now, isn’t it?’

She quickly drafted a contract for Dahlia White to prevent her from going wild after she arrived.

Besides, once the contract was signed, she wouldn’t have to worry about Dahlia backing out of their agreement.

With everything settled, Faye entered Dahlia White’s name into the Invitation Card and confirmed. Soon after, Dahlia White appeared on her raft.

Without even bothering to come inside, she just gave Faye a quick wave and, with a WHOOSH, shot off toward the clouds.

Faye stood at the floor-to-ceiling window, watching as Dahlia excitedly plunged into the oppressive, dark clouds. Every time her white figure flashed amidst the blackness, the darkness would fade a little.

To Faye’s surprise, less than five minutes after Dahlia charged in, the dark clouds directly above the raft had turned white and drifted away. The rain also noticeably lessened.

For the next 50 minutes, Dahlia flashed through different cloud layers. Toward the end, she stopped trying to turn every cloud completely white; as soon as one turned grayish-white or even just gray, she’d leave it and rush on to the next black cloud.

Of course, Faye didn’t just stand there gawking. After telling Rainie Yardley to keep an eye on Dahlia, she went straight to the swing chair on her balcony, sat cross-legged, and began her Cultivation of the Health Care Scripture.

By the time she had completed four major cycles, the hour from the Invitation Card was almost up.

Dahlia didn’t even have time to return; she just called Faye directly.

"There are only five minutes left, so I’m not going to rush back. I’m not even sure I could make it in time. The contract will transfer your share of my rewards to you when it expires. I’ll be gone as soon as the time’s up. Don’t contact me anytime soon. I’m completely stuffed. I need to go into seclusion to digest everything."

"Okay." Faye could tell she wasn’t kidding about being stuffed. Her cheeks had swelled up by two sizes, and her facial features were squished together.

’I was honestly afraid that if she kept eating, her facial features would disappear completely.’

Five minutes later, right on time, Faye received the payout from the system contract. Dahlia’s one-quarter share was truly substantial.

In any case, because she was completely unprepared when she accepted it, Faye fainted on the spot.

Willow Yardley picked her up, laid her on the sofa, and scanned her body. She was relieved to find that nothing was wrong.

[District 101 Announcement: Congratulations to all players in District 101 for safely weathering the storm period.] x3

[For inviting an Otherkin ally and bringing the storm period to an early end, player Faye Yardley of this district is specially rewarded with: free attribute points +2, reputation +300.] x3

While Faye was unconscious, all of District 101 was in an uproar. Many people excitedly rushed to the national channel to show off. Of course, there were also a few odd, thrill-seeking players who grumbled and cursed about the storm ending early.

When Faye finally woke up, she felt completely refreshed.

"Sister, you’re finally awake! Brother and Mr. Pierce were both looking for you yesterday. I told them you were tired and already asleep. They asked you to call them back when you woke up."

Faye’s eyes widened in surprise. She immediately got up, turned, and looked outside. The sea was calm, and the sky was clear and vast.

"It’s the next day?"

"Yes."

"I slept for that long? What time is it?"

"It’s already nine in the morning."

Before Faye could process her confusion, a system notification sounded.

[agility +5, Spirit +2, Constitution +2, Strength +1]

Faye was truly astonished. ’Just by taking a nap and digesting one-quarter of the benefits, the gains are this huge?!’

’It’s like I won just by lying here!’

"Sister, you made the system’s regional announcement! Everyone knows the storm period in District 101 ended early because of you. People from other districts are wailing with envy on the national channel. Oh, and you were also rewarded with 2 free attribute points and 300 reputation."

Faye was even more surprised. "No way, there’s a reward for that too?"

’But hey, a reward is a reward. I’ll take it!’

She added the 2 free attribute points to Strength. Looking at her Four-dimensional Attributes again, she couldn’t suppress a massive grin.

Her Constitution was already at 28. Just two more points and it would hit 30. It felt like she had only just broken through to Tier Two, and now Tier Three was already on the horizon.

’Seriously, who could possibly be as lucky as me?!’

After reveling in her excitement for a moment, she at least remembered to send a message to her brother and Zachary Pierce to let them know she was awake.

Zachary Pierce’s call came quickly.

"Yardley, what method did you use to end our district’s storm period early?"

Faye smiled faintly and said, "I used a regional Invitation Card to invite a friend from The Cloud Sprite Clan over. As for what she did in the clouds, I’m not clear on the details. But I’m certain the benefits she reaped were far greater than the help she provided us."

"A member of The Cloud Sprite Clan?" Zachary Pierce sounded puzzled; he had never heard of The Cloud Sprite Clan before. Still, he expressed his thanks. "Thank you for letting me know. I’ll go inform the others, just in case someone else happens to know one."
