Chapter 170: Chapter 170: She Took All the Benefits for Herself
When the wall suddenly opened, Logan Langdon and his group rushed over. They had searched the entire area outside and found nothing.
Behind the wall was a space bathed in red light. Numerous colorful eggs floated in the air, with a particularly large, translucent red egg shining conspicuously in the center.
Faye Yardley spoke up immediately. "Mr. Langdon, I was the one who found this place. It shouldn’t be a problem for me to make the first pick on behalf of Mr. Pierce’s team, right?"
Logan Langdon was at a loss for words. What could he say? "No"? Zachary Pierce was standing right there, staring him down.
He might as well be magnanimous about it. Logan Langdon was quick to adjust his attitude, smiling as he said, "Of course. After you, Gorgeous Yardley."
Faye Yardley returned his smile. Sensing no danger, she stepped inside. Zachary Pierce followed her, with Logan Langdon close behind. No one made a move, all waiting for Faye Yardley to make the first selection.
Faye Yardley didn’t hesitate. She took the largest, most translucent egg from the center and said, "Mr. Langdon, you’re next. We’ll take turns."
Afterward, however, Faye Yardley stepped aside and let Zachary Pierce pick freely while she began examining the walls.
Her sharp eyes spotted an indentation in the wall, a triangular shape that looked like a perfect fit for the iron triangle she had found earlier.
Faye Yardley took the black iron triangle from her backpack and fitted it into the slot. The world instantly spun around her, and she was teleported away.
Logan Langdon and Zachary Pierce, who had been keeping a close eye on her, rushed over. But she had vanished, along with the iron piece.
"Commander Pierce, do you know what Gorgeous Yardley put there?"
Zachary Pierce shook his head. "I don’t know. That triangle..."
He reached out and touched the wall, which was once again missing a piece.
They had no other option, so the others continued conscientiously taking their turns picking from the eggs.
Finn Ford and Bo kept a close watch on the opposing group, making sure they didn’t try to take more than their share.
"Pierce! We’re down to the last ones, and it’s our turn, but they’re blocking us and won’t let us take them!" Bo shouted to Zachary Pierce.
He glared at Henry Lewis and his men across the room.
’We agreed to one per person! What gives them the right to stop us?’
Whatever was happening back there no longer concerned Faye Yardley. She had been teleported to a fragrant place where birds sang. Before her stood a statue of a female Snakefolk.
The statue’s hands were cupped as if holding something. Its features were soft and beautiful, but its downcast eyes gave it a sorrowful expression.
Faye Yardley only had two minutes left. She didn’t have time to carefully inspect her surroundings, so after a moment’s thought, she placed the translucent red egg in the palm of the statue’s hands.
A brilliant red light immediately flared up. The statue seemed to come to life, its sorrowful expression replaced by a sweet, blissful smile.
Then, Faye Yardley herself was enveloped in a gentle red glow.
A woman’s whisper seemed to drift into her ears.
She couldn’t make out the words, but Faye Yardley felt a pleasant warmth spread through her entire body.
She clearly detested Snakefolk, but at this moment, facing this statue, she couldn’t bring herself to hate it.
’I can’t believe I find a Snakefolk statue so comforting. This is insane. But it feels so nice here...’

After the three system prompts, the scene before Faye Yardley’s eyes changed again, and she was back in the dining area of her raft.
"My four core stats increased again?! Tier Two! System, show me my personal Attributes."
Faye Yardley was too impatient to see her Attributes to even think about washing up first.

’Oh my god! Just by soaking in that red light for a moment, all four of my core stats increased by one, pushing me straight to Tier Two!’
’I really hit the jackpot!’
Once the excitement wore off, Faye Yardley began to worry about how to explain this to Zachary Pierce. After all, the egg hadn’t been entirely hers to begin with.
Now she had hogged all the benefits for herself.
"Sister, what’s wrong?"
One moment she was giggling like an idiot, the next her brows were furrowed with worry. Willow Yardley couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
Faye Yardley sighed. "It’s nothing. It’s actually a great thing, I think. I’m going to go wash up and change first. We’ll talk after."
After washing up and changing into some loungewear, Faye Yardley stretched and went downstairs.
"I’m so hungry. Willow, are there any rice balls left? Give me two."
"Yes, just a moment."
It would be another four hours before the others returned. Outside, the strong winds and torrential rain were still raging.
"Has it been storming like this the whole time? Are there any signs of it letting up?"
Willow Yardley handed her a plate of rice balls and shook her head. "Nope. In fact, the waves are getting even higher."
"Tsk, tsk. Thrill-seekers must be having the time of their lives."
She took the plate, picked up a rice ball, and took a bite. The fragrance of the rice, mixed with the flavors of lettuce, smoked sausage, and Fish Meat, instantly filled her mouth. The textures were incredibly rich.
She set the plate on the coffee table and gave Willow Yardley a thumbs-up. After swallowing the bite, she praised, "Delicious."
"I’m glad you like it, Sister. The other one is filled with ham."
Faye Yardley’s eyes lit up. ’It’s true,’ she thought, ’good ingredients need a good chef to shine.’
After finishing her food and drinking a cup of fruit tea, Faye Yardley lay comfortably on the sofa, emptying her mind.
She tilted her head slightly and saw the messages constantly scrolling across the public chat on the television screen.
[Holy crap, this is insane! I’m clinging to my window, shaking like a leaf. A wave just pushed my raft more than ten meters into the air!]
[You’re getting a great view from up there, you should enjoy it! I’m down here getting swamped by wave after wave crashing over my raft. It feels like my raft is about to be dragged under.]
[You guys have no idea how to have fun. Just tie a rope around yourself and you can ride the waves right outside your house.]
[Crap, my doors and windows are sealed tight but water is still getting in. Is there no justice in this world?!]
[The temperature has dropped, hasn’t it? Look on the bright side.]
[Spoken like a true Optimist. Suddenly, I’m thinking a little heat is fine. I’d take stability over this any day.]
[Oh my god, it looks like it’s about to start thundering and lightning! Anyone outside should get back in ASAP!]
"Thunder?" Faye Yardley sat up and looked out toward the balcony. The world outside was pitch-black, making it impossible to tell whether it was day or night.
Willow Yardley walked over and opened the glass sliding door, giving her a clearer view. Pointing to the occasional white flashes in the clouds, she said, "It really might thunder."
"Oh, I’ll give Dahlia White a call."
