Chapter 242: "You are a little piggy..."

"You are a little piggy, you know that?" said Jolie and Qie Xieling stopped chewing looking offended.

"Just leave me alone. I am emotionally eating. If it was Mittens flirting with the Roomba vacuum robot you will be eating too," he said and Jolie scoffed.

"If it was me I would have been raising hell not eating. That bitch robot would be in an incinerator that very day."

Qie Xieling, "..."

He ate another spicy wing before saying, "I can’t incinerate anyone while I am chained down here... How do I even attract his attention when he hates me?"

Qie Xieling really felt helpless. He had just discovered his feelings for Luo Muchen and before he could indulge in the blissful honeymoon period it was all taken away from him. Now he had to find a way to get his man back.

"Ah ah, I get it... let this big sister help you. Lesson number one, pretend like you are unbothered. Men love that shit. Act like your life would be peachy with or without them. Two, smell irresistible. You should turn heads when you pass by. Three, don’t be a love-sick puppy. Don’t show that you are head-over-heels. You can never show your cards," said Jolie and Qie Xieling exhaled deeply feeling like this was going to be incredibly difficult. How could he pretend not to care when his heart was beating up a storm?

"Anyway, you need to focus on the main task as it won’t be easy," said Jolie noticing the difference between Qie Xieling and Wen Qinxi. Qie Xieling looked like he would give up easily or rather give in at the slightest affection from Luo Muchen. The question Qie Xieling should have asked was how he even won Luo Muchen’s heart in the first place.

"Let’s start with you taking a shower. You need a warm bath," said Jolie and Qie Xieling puffed up his cheeks looking like a hamster. It was so hard chasing after someone who disliked you.

***

Jolie’s tips sounded very good but how effective would that plan be if the person wasn’t coming home? Luo Muchen had been spending more time at his office and his condo.

Whenever he got back after a hard day of work he would walk in to find Bager waiting for him. They would talk about work and future races. Sometimes they would discuss the rumours spreading about him murdering Qie Xieling but Luo Muchen didn’t seem to care.

He had been more concerned with keeping his suppliers in check and reminding them why it would be a bad idea to jump ship and work with his competitor. He also had to have twenty-four-seven guards at the docks to prevent sabotage hence the rumours were the least of his worries.

Bager would sleep in the guest bedroom and for the entire week, the pair interacted harmoniously.

One thing that was hanging over his head though was Qie Xieling. He still had to deal with him so he decided to go back to his family home at the end of the week.

That day just as the sun reached the middle of the sky he glanced at his cell phone that was lying flat on his desk. He suddenly wanted to know what Qie Xieling had been up to. He had ignored all the updates sent to him by secretary Chan for an entire week but now he couldn’t resist the temptation.

He finally picked up the cell phone and opened the messages. Instead of reading them, he clicked the link for the camera feed and Qie Xieling’s face suddenly appeared covering the entire screen.

Luo Muchen, "..."

This wasn’t a live feed but rather what had been recorded in the past few days. He paused the footage and put his cell phone down ready to get back to work but there was a strange urge luring him in to watch a little more.

Thinking maybe he would find out something useful he decided to continue watching. This was after all for security reasons. He even forgot he had people doing that already. If there was anything suspicious they would report it back to him.

After just the first two minutes he was hooked. He didn’t know what it was about that seemed to make him procrastinate. After five minutes he told himself after ten minutes he would turn it off but ten minutes turned to twenty minutes then an hour.

He had his wireless earphones on listening to Qie Xieling sing, play games and even dance out of boredom. Without even realising it Luo Muchen was slowly becoming a pervert.

In no time he had reached the current feed but the basement was empty. From the previous feed, Qie Xieling usually took a shower in the morning and that was the only time he wasn’t in the frame.

Now it was midday but he wasn’t visible. Luo Muchen waited and waited while impatiently tapping the table. But after waiting for so long Qie Xieling still didn’t appear. A little irritable he called Secretary Chan but there was no answer.

Three rings in he cut the call and clutched his cell phone tightly until his fingernails turned white.

His patience wearing thin he clenched his fist tightly, leaving no room for doubt that he was seething with anger. He snatched his suit jacket from the nearby chair and stormed towards the door.

On his way to the elevator, he unintentionally collided with Bager, who, like clockwork, had come to visit him again for their regular lunch. Half-heartedly, Luo Muchen muttered to Bager, "Hey, I have an urgent matter to attend to so we can’t have lunch together."

Bager was disappointed but he didn’t want to appear too clingy. "Oh, then at least take this with you. It took me a long time to make and it would only become a waste."

Thirty minutes later the tranquil atmosphere of the estate was abruptly shattered by the piercing sounds of screeching tires. Three cars, tires scorching against the pavement, hurriedly drove onto the property.

As he stepped out of one of the cars, the butler rushed over, aware of Luo Muchen’s bad mood and attempting to appease him. "Where is he?" Before the butler could even respond to Luo Muchen’s question, a new sound caught their attention. It was the thunderous roar of a sports car engine, powerful and unruly, akin to a NASCAR race.

Their gazes instinctively shifted towards the source of the noise, and there it was, a vibrant red race car blazing past them, leaving a trail of dust in its wake. The driver was exhilarated, his face adorned with a mix of excitement and mischief. He skillfully manoeuvred the car, the tires screeching as he drifted at a sharp corner, showcasing his daredevil spirit. There was his answer.
