Chapter 241: Qie Xieling missing and presumed dead

Bager carefully arranged the bento boxes on the coffee table in Luo Muchen’s office, his heart beating with a mix of nervousness and excitement. He had spent hours preparing this lunch, hoping it would impress the mafia boss and perhaps even win his heart.

He had harboured feelings for Luo Muchen ever since they first crossed paths six years ago, but he had never been sure if he shared those same sentiments. As he unpacked the steaming hot lunch, he couldn’t help but steal glances at Luo Muchen, unsure of how he would react.

Luo Muchen who was engrossed in his cell phone replying to Secretary Chan’s message, finally raised his head.

He returned the look with a faint smile, appreciating the effort Bager had put into making this lunch. No one had shown him this level of care in a very long time. He had been working himself half to death and this simple gesture made his heart happy.

However, as he took a bite, he couldn’t help but feel that the food lacked freshness. It was as though it was reheated instead of cooked afresh. The taste was blunt and tasteless.

Nevertheless, the gesture touched him, and he reminded himself that it was the thought and effort that truly counted. He put down the bento while asking, "Didn’t you have a session with your coach today? You didn’t have to come if you were busy," he said and Bager smiled slightly.

How could he not come when he didn’t know what Luo Muchen was going to do about Qie Xieling? He wanted that man gone for good so yes, he came to add coal to the fire.

"I missed you... You haven’t come back to the condo lately and I was worried. Have you dealt with..." he said only to pause midway unable to say Qie Xieling’s name. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"Not yet, he was unconscious," he replied and just as he was about to take another bite, a sudden commotion erupted outside the office, shattering the tranquillity of the moment.

Luo Muchen’s brows furrowed, and he slammed his chopsticks down on the coffee table in frustration. Sensing Luo Muchen’s agitation, Bager’s heart sank. The interruption had dashed his hopes of spending a peaceful lunch together, just the two of them. However, he quickly pushed aside his disappointment and followed Luo Muchen’s lead, towards the door.

As they stepped out of the office, the chaos outside intensified, with raised voices and the sound of scuffling in the distance. Bager focused on staying close to Luo Muchen while clutching the man’s sleeve.

Four men were suppressing a man dressed in a delivery man uniform. They were pressing him to the ground while he was yelling, "Where is that bastard Luo! Let me go! I won’t leave until I see Qie Xieling!"

Luo Muchen gestured for them to pick him up and Bo Ailun was suddenly face to face with the devil. The confidence he had before wavered his blood running cold.

He clenched his jaw tightly with a mixture of anger and fear clearly written on his face. Luo Muchen glared at him coldly for a second or two before turning to walk into his office.

He sat down in his chair and with his hand on his desk, his stance domineering and imposing. Bo Ailun was forced to sit opposite him with two men pressing down on either side of his shoulders. The secretary packed away the bento boxes while Bager stood on Luo Muchen’s side like he was his right-hand man.

Bo Ailun gritted his teeth when he saw Bager. He should have known that something was going on when Bager came out and fought Qie Xieling at the finish line. It was because he had hugged the thigh of such a great Buddha.

"You bitch," he said in a whisper but one of the men slapped his face so hard that his ears rang. He loosened his tight jaw while Luo Muchen said,

"I will not accept such language in my office. Let’s be respectful."

Bo Ailun rubbed his cheek his red-rimmed eyes glaring at Luo Muchen. Tapping the table softly Luo Muchen asked, "Now that we can have a civil conversation, how can I help you?"

"You!... Where is Xieling? It’s been more than two days that he has been missing and don’t you think all the news agencies aren’t looking for him? They are already calling me and he has another championship he needs to participate in soon. He had contractual obligations and if he doesn’t show up people will become suspicious."

Luo Muchen averted his gaze with a sigh before replying calmly. "If that’s the case then I can only deal with it immediately. I will let the world know that his disgruntled manager with a love for strippers spent all of Mr Qie’s money on liquor and girls. When poor Mr Qie found out he confronted his manager and... his manager killed him. How is that? Do you think they will believe that story?"

Bo Ailun licked his dry lips his complexion ashen. His eyes turned sour thinking that Qie Xieling was dead. Fear gripped his soul as he looked at this heartless man. With his emotions taking over he lunged forward intending to strangle Luo Muchen only for him to be thrown to the ground and kicked ruthlessly.

Luo Muchen raised his hand telling them to stop. He got up from his chair and walked around the desk in slow unhurried steps. His body leaned against the desk as he said, "He is not dead... yet but he might turn out dead if he doesn’t give back everything he stole from me with interest... Get him out of my office," he said and Bo Ailun was carried out of the building before getting thrown into the street.

His body rolled down the stairs thrice before the person he came with helped him up. While he was helping him up there was an expensive car with its window lowered and a woman watching the fun.

She showed an evil smile akin to that of the evil queen. She turned to her driver and said, "Release the headlines that Qie Xieling is missing and presumed dead. Name my dearest half-brother the last person seen with him. I want him to bleed himself to death," she said as her window rolled up.

"Yes boss," replied the man before the engine of the car purred and the car disappeared into traffic.

Qie Xieling had no idea that a rumour that he was dead was being spread around online. They read ’The world’s new drift racer champion missing and presumed dead’ but the person was currently eating so much food. Paired with the cameras watching him it looked like he was broadcasting a mukbang for the security team.

Calling Qie Xieling a glutton wouldn’t be far-fetched. Jolie couldn’t help but wonder where all the food went because he never gained weight, to begin with.
