Chapter 123: Go to your room, Take a bath
The formal dinner continued.
But the energy of the hall had shifted irrevocably.
Conversations resumed, but they were quieter. More careful. Servers moved more carefully around the brothers’ table, understanding that even accidental proximity could be dangerous.
Everyone had witnessed the power play.
As the dinner progressed toward its conclusion, Sebastian turned slightly in his seat to look at Lilith.
His dark eyes met hers for just a moment, and then he spoke, his voice low enough that only she could hear, despite the ambient noise of the hall.
"Go to your room," he said, the command absolute and brooking no argument. "Take a bath."
It wasn’t a suggestion. It was an order. And the meaning beneath the words was unmistakable: wash off what Kieran left on your body. Remove his touch. Cleanse yourself of his claim.
"Yes, Alpha," Lilith said quietly, and she excused herself from her duties.
She made her way out of the dining hall, her movements steady despite the trembling that ran through her entire body. She could feel the weight of attention on her as she left, the eyes of every alpha in the hall tracking her departure.
By the time she reached her room in the Blackwood Alphas quarters, she was shaking.
She moved through the motions of drawing a bath, of removing her clothes, of sinking into the hot water. She sat there and started washing away the remnants of Kieran’s touch.

Lilith sank deeper into the hot water of the bath.
Steam rose around her, wrapping her in warmth. The heat should have been soothing. Instead, it felt like torture.
She scrubbed her skin where Kieran’s hand had been. Under the table. Uninvited and possessive.
The water was scalding but it didn’t wash away the feeling of his touch. Didn’t erase the memory of his fingers sliding higher. Didn’t remove the sensation of being trapped between two alphas while the entire dining hall watched.
Lucian’s growl still echoed in her ears.
That sound. That inhuman sound of pure rage and possession. It had shaken the entire hall. Had made every alpha in the room freeze.
And then Nicholas’s cold voice. The threat delivered so calmly. So civilly. So perfectly constructed that it was almost beautiful in its cruelty.
She scrubbed harder.
Sebastian’s command kept replaying in her mind: Go to your room. Take a bath.
She understood what it meant. He wanted her to wash off what Kieran had left on her body. Wanted to erase the other alpha’s claim. Wanted her clean and ready for...for what? She didn’t know.
Lilith pulled herself out of the bath and dried off slowly. The towel was soft against her still-flushed skin. Her body was warm, her hair damp, her mind racing with questions that had no answers.
She wrapped the towel around herself and stood in the center of her room.
The knock came exactly as her skin began to cool.
Three sharp raps on the door.
She opened it to find Finn standing in the corridor. Sebastian’s beta. His expression was calm, professional and expectant.
"Alpha Sebastian demands that you come to his room," Finn said simply.
Lilith’s breath caught.
She searched his face for information. For context. For something that might explain why Sebastian was summoning her now, after everything that had happened in the dining hall.
Finn gave her nothing.

His expression remained neutral. His eyes revealed no secrets. He was simply a messenger delivering an order.
"Please give me a moment to get dressed," Lilith managed, her voice barely steady.
Finn nodded and stepped back into the corridor, giving her privacy.
She closed the door and pressed her back against it.
Her heart was racing.
Why was Sebastian calling her? After the bath. After washing away Kieran’s touch. What did he want?
She moved to the wardrobe and pulled out an evening gown. It was simple, another omega uniform, Black fabric. Fitted. Modest but emphasizing the curve of her waist and hips. She dressed with trembling hands.
Her skin was still flushed from the hot water. Her hair was damp and beginning to curl slightly. She looked at herself in the mirror and barely recognized the person staring back.
Eyes too wide. Skin too flushed. Body too responsive to everything.
She took a deep breath and opened the door.
Finn was waiting in the corridor, his posture unchanged. He gestured for her to follow, and she did, moving through the hallways of the Blackwood quarters.
The guest quarters were luxurious but clearly temporary. The furniture was expensive but impersonal. The decorations were elegant but showed no signs of long-term habitation. This was a space designed for important visitors, not for residence.
When they reached his door, Finn stopped.
"You can enter," he said simply.
Lilith hesitated. "Don’t you need to announce me? Knock?"
Finn’s lips curved into a small smile, the first emotion she’d seen from him. "Don’t worry about that. He’s already expecting you."
The words hit differently.
He KNEW she was coming.
He was WAITING for her.
Finn stepped back, giving her space to approach the door. She took a deep breath and reached for the handle. Her hand trembled slightly as she opened the door and stepped inside.

The room was spacious and appointed with the kind of luxury that came with the Blackwood name. But it was clearly temporary quarters. The furnishings were fine but impersonal. The space showed no signs of habitation beyond necessity.
And Sebastian was sitting in a chair near the window, waiting for her.
His heated gaze hit her immediately.
Dark eyes. Focused entirely on her. With an intensity that was different from Nicholas’s silver coldness. There was warmth here but also something dangerous. There was amusement mixed with hunger.
He was waiting for her.
Lilith raised her head to look at him and then immediately dropped her face.
The intensity was too much.
"Come here," Sebastian said.
His voice was smooth but it carried absolute command. It wasn’t a request. It was a statement of fact dressed in courtesy.
Lilith heard him but didn’t move. She was frozen. Her body wanted to obey but her mind was screaming with questions.
He waited a moment.
Then: "Come here, Lilith."
