Chapter 1040: REQUEST AND CONFIRMATION
"USE THIS, Lewis."
Neoma pulled out a holy sword from her Lynx Ring.
Her Lynx Ring served as an inventory, a spatial space that she used as a storage for mundae stuff to important treasures.
The holy sword that she threw at Lewis was something that she picked up from the Royal Armory. Yeah, the Royal Armory was something that only the emperor had access to. But Nero gave her the key to it, so she paid it a visit and picked up a few things that piqued her interest.
"Stab the red eyes with that holy sword."
Lewis nodded, and then he swung the holy sword, but...
Ah.
Her poor son wasn’t able to slash the Bubble that he was trapped in.
Right.
Neoma almost forgot that she put Lewis inside a Bubble because the air in the Tower was contaminated.
He won’t be able to move properly inside the barrier, so let’s change the barrier’s form.
She snapped her fingers, turning the Bubble into a Coat.
The Coat was the form of her barrier that fit a person like a glove.
In short, the barrier wouldn’t restrict Lewis’ movements now.
"Go Lewis," Neoma said, pointing at the biggest eye on the wall. "Start with that one."
Lewis just nodded politely before moving.
The fox immediately ran towards the target, stabbing the red eye with the holy sword.
And guess what?
Purple blood spurted from the red eye before it disappeared.
The ’blood’ splattered all over Lewis.
But thanks to the Coat that was protecting him, the ’blood’ wasn’t able to harm her ’son.’ In fact, the Coat purified the ’blood’ because her barrier was made of her divine power.
Her experiment was a success.
"The holy sword and my barrier are both made with divine power," Neoma said, tilting her head to one side. "Even so, just mere divine power shouldn’t be able to kill a god, no matter how minor they are."
Lewis tilted his head as if copying her. "So, they’re not gods?"
"Yeah. Those red eyes are fakes."
"Can I kill them, Princess Neoma?"
"Yeah, go wild," Neoma said, waving her hand while making the Coat thicker. She had a feeling that Lewis would be covered in ’blood,’ so she strengthened her ’son’s’ barrier. "Tell me if your Coat starts getting thinner."
"Yes, Princess Neoma."
And Lewis really went wild— slashing here, stabbing there.
Heh.
That’s my ’son.’
Neoma turned her back on Lewis because she knew her son could handle.
She headed for her other children and the mages that she needed to save.
While walking leisurely, she crushed the red eyes around her with her divine power.
She didn’t have to do anything special.
All she had to do was breathe, and the red eyes started bursting one by one.
The fake minor gods were such a non-issue that she actually spaced out while walking.
Maybe I should ask Trevor to create a device that can produce barriers made of divine power after he wakes up.
For now...
Neoma raised her hand, and the Bubble where Paige Avery, Greko, and the mages were, moved until they passed through the window safely.
The contaminated air was purified by the Bubble before it even reached the barrier.
So, divine power is the answer to defeat the fake minor gods.
But only a few people possessed divine power, so they had to rely on weapons that contained divine power.
Unfortunately, items with divine power were also rare.
So, the answer would be...
Have weapons blessed by someone with overflowing divine power.
Thankfully, their empire had someone to fit the bill.
Neoma put her elbows on the windowsill while looking up at the mages inside the Bubble. "Are there important items or documents in this part of the tower?"
One of the mages behind Paige Avery spoke.
"N-None, Your Imperial Highness. We’ve already removed all the important documents and items to a safe place. B-But why are you asking that...?"
Neoma just smiled, and then her gaze went past the Bubble. "Nero sent you here?"
She was talking to Lucien Attewell— one of Nero’s knights.
If I remember correctly, this kid was a runaway mage from this very tower.
"Yes, Your Imperial Highness," Lucien Attewell, suspended in the air, said while bowing politely towards Neoma. "His Imperial Majesty said he’d kill me if you get so much as a scratch."
Heh.
That sounds Nero, alright.
Anyway, if Neoma also remembered correctly...
This kid is the one who enjoys blowing up stuff here and there.
"Lucien Attewell, do I have the right to boss you around?"
"Of course, Your Imperial Highness. The emperor always tells us to consider your words as His Imperial Majesty’s words."
"Alright. So, do you have explosives that contain divine power?"
Lucien Attewell’s eyes suddenly became frenzied. "What does Your Imperial Highness want me to do with explosives that contain divine power, assuming that I have them?"
Of course, this crazy kid possesses bombs with divine power.
Neoma smiled sweetly. "Make this tower explode, kid."

THAT’S a god...?
A minor god, but a god nonetheless.
Hanna looked at the red eye inside what seemed like a circular aquarium.
The ’water’ was purple, but she could tell it was the ’blood’ spurting from the big red eye that was full of holes here and there.
It was obvious that it had been stabbed several times.
Aside from the ’blood,’ she could also see the faint blue glow on the surface.
She had seen that before from Neoma.
It must be the former emperor’s Moonglow.
"I’m torturing that thing by mixing my divine power with its blood," the former Emperor Nikolai de Moonasterio explained, crossing his arms over his chest. "It looks weak now, but you never know."
Hanna nodded politely at the former emperor’s explanation, and then she stared at the red eye.
She didn’t know if it was just her imagination, but she thought the pupil of the red eye moved and followed her movement when she took a step forward.
The thing was practically dead when she arrived.
But, for some reason, she felt like it suddenly gained life when it saw her.
Moreover, she noticed that the ’blood’ started to boil.
Okay, it’s not my imagination.
"Hanna Quinzel, move back—"
The former emperor wasn’t able to continue his sentence because the aquarium suddenly exploded— the ’water’ bursting out immediately.
But Hanna was fast.
With just a stomp of her foot on the ground, her Shadow Veil emerged from the ground— effectively protecting her and the former emperor from getting splashed by the ’blood.’
She heard a loud sizzling sound when the ’blood’ hit her Shadow Veil.
Hanna flinched when she felt her skin crawl at the contact, which was weird because she wasn’t directly hit by the ’blood.’
But the sensation was familiar to her.
"It seems like the minor god stirred to life when it saw you," the former Emperor Nikolai de Moonasterio said while looking over his shoulder. "I think I can guess why. The minor god probably saw you as a huge lump of Darkness, Hanna."
"That’s what I thought as well, Your Majesty," Hanna said while nodding slowly. "The ’blood’ of that thing is mixed with Darkness."
"Aha."
The former emperor didn’t look surprised, though.
They only brought me here for confirmation— they already know what’s going on.
"Duchess Quinzel, I believe the Imperial Family should offer protection for you and the entire Quinzel Clan from this moment on," the former Emperor Nero de Moonasterio said in a serious tone. "The enemies are creating artificial minor gods using Darkness, and the Quinzels are the masters of Darkness."
That meant her clan would be targeted from now on, as if those damned crows weren’t already after Hanna.
Our family is really famous, huh?

"YOUR IMPERIAL MAJESTY, people from the Eastern Continent are requesting—"
"Rejected," Nero said, scoffing. "If those people are from the Eastern Continent, then they must be working for Commander Ruto Solfrid."
"That’s why we can’t ignore them, sire," Melvin Luchessi said, sighing as if he were already tired of Nero’s attitude. "Three of Commander Solfrid’s subordinates from the Eastern Continent are requesting entry to our empire. We all know that they can trespass without us knowing, but they are going through the process properly out of respect towards you and the Imperial Family."
Tsk.
"Hence, I already gave them permission to enter not only the empire, but also the Imperial Capital."
Nero glared at Melvin Luchessi, who just avoided his gaze. "Then why are you even reporting that to me?"
"Ah, their real request is something that I can’t approve without Your Imperial Majesty’s permission," Melvin Luchessi said, finally looking at Nero again with a serious look on his face. "They want an audience with Princess Neoma, sire."
***
HEH.
Neoma smirked while watching Lucien Attewell laugh as the tower went down, all thanks to the bombs that he threw like a madman.
Lewis, Paige Avery, and Greko were just silently standing behind her.
However, the mages behind her were crying while watching the tower go down in flames after getting bombed multiple times.
To be fair, Neoma made sure that everyone had already been evacuated.
Then she let Lucien Attewell go wild.
Of course, Nero’s kids are just as crazy as him.
She was enjoying the moment when a giant bird caught her attention.
And it wasn’t just any bird— it was a Thunderbird.
Neoma’s eyes widened in shock. "Veton?"
The Thunderbird was Ruto’s Elemental Guardian.
What is it doing here?
