Chapter 793: Chapter 778: Curiosity (Part 2)

Jokes aside, after teaching the impolite Wenquan Xin a lesson, Wang Zhongyu calmed his mind and returned to a cautious driving state.

Driving straight to the site of the explosion was obviously something unrealistic. Besides the potential dangers there, just trying to break through the zombie army heading towards the explosion site with the same goal as theirs was not something human power could achieve.

Although Wang Zhongyu was eager to know the situation at the explosion site, he wasn’t arrogant enough to think he could break through the zombie horde with just the truck at hand. So finding a vantage point for observation was the most reliable method.

Wang Zhongyu drove the truck along streets as far away from the zombies as possible, looking for a suitable observation point, since their location was a sizable town where most houses were self-built.

So, whether in construction appearance or design plan, they were all quite similar.

After a careful selection, Wang and Wen decided on a self-built, three-story residential building.

It appeared that the family here was relatively well-off before the apocalypse, but unfortunately, the small shop on the first floor had long been ransacked, leaving nothing behind.

Or else, for Wang and Wen, even if they couldn’t find the cause of the explosion, they could at least scavenge some resources from the shop to make up for the wasted fuel.

The two easily reached the rooftop, presumably because the explosion attracted all the town’s zombies away; otherwise, they would’ve had a fierce battle with them.

Without speaking much, Wang Zhongyu quickly raised the binoculars hanging in front of his chest; the raging flames looked as if they were about to devour everything, so dazzling and bright.

"I see, no wonder it caused such a commotion." Without much effort, Wang Zhongyu discovered the cause of the explosion. When Wenquan Xin arrived and heard this, he became interested and hurriedly asked, "How is it, what’s the cause?"

"Look here!" Wang Zhongyu handed the binoculars to Wenquan Xin, signaling him to look for himself, and explained, "It’s a tanker truck, see that half-broken steel tank? That’s what caused the explosion."

With Wang Zhongyu’s reminder, Wenquan Xin found the steel tank fragments amidst the sea of fire. Not only that, but despite the fire’s chaos, Wenquan Xin could still make out the wreckage of the truck body.

"It’s simple, a group of unlucky guys drove through this town, not sure how it happened, but unfortunately, the tanker exploded. Then we have the situation we encountered. But we should thank those people; without them causing such a big scene, it might’ve been us in trouble now." Wang Zhongyu lit a cigarette for himself while analyzing.

"Do you think anyone survived?" Wenquan Xin, with a Bodhisattva-like heart, returned the binoculars to Wenquan Xin.

The latter shook his head with a bitter smile, "Surviving such a large-scale explosion... it’s tough! But if those folks ran fast enough, they might’ve escaped. But even if they did, what’s the point? Just look at the scale of the zombies... sigh~"

Wang Zhongyu said no more. To him, dying in this explosion might not be a bad escape.

After all, the explosion is a momentary thing; in the face of the strong power of high-temperature air waves, weak humans probably won’t even feel pain before they are reduced to ashes.

And if someone is lucky enough to survive the disaster, how would they live the days to come?

Once discovered by zombies, they would ultimately face the danger of being eaten alive. Even if not found, without supplies, survival would be worse than death.

"Alright, we’ve figured things out, Nima, I don’t care anymore, I’m going down to lie down. You keep researching up here." Wenquan Xin had no interest in the explosion business; to him, finding a bed and having a good sleep was the most pleasant thing now.

After saying this, Wenquan Xin started to head downstairs. Seeing this, Wang Zhongyu quickly took a couple of drags on his cigarette and then discarded it on the ground, stepping forward to stop Wenquan Xin from moving, "Wait, Wen, this is not the place to sleep; we need to leave here quickly."

"What? Why? I’m telling you; I’m not in the mood for jokes; my head is still damn cloudy."

"You think I’m joking with you? I’m worried those beasts could return anytime; for safety’s sake, we should leave here ASAP. If you want to sleep, we can find a safe spot on the highway outside the town. It won’t be too late to sleep then."

Wenquan Xin carefully considered Wang Zhongyu’s words; indeed, his concerns were reasonable. But thinking about giving up the comfortable bed made him somewhat reluctant, "Fine, fine, whatever, you always have a lot of issues. Let’s just go fast if we’re leaving; I’m the one with the headache anyway. Damn!"

Wang Zhongyu didn’t rush to leave but patiently used the binoculars to observe the explosion site again. The tanker accident site was at the town entrance, the same route Wang Zhongyu took entering the town.

But with the road blocked by fire, he couldn’t return the same way. Nearby exits were occupied by the zombie army, so he had to carefully observe to find a relatively safe exit for himself and Wenquan Xin.

Wang Zhongyu and the others had mentioned the term ’zombie siege’ before, but compared to today’s scale, those were minor disturbances not worth mentioning.

From the analysis of everything experienced so far, Wang Zhongyu suspected that zombies from possibly the entire town had gathered near the explosion point, imagining the grand scene at that time was daunting. Let alone the ’town’ magnitude, which alone was terrifying.

Thinking of Wenquan Xin, who still hadn’t recovered and was dizzy, Wang Zhongyu felt a headache. Looking at the dense zombie army, he smiled wryly.

In this scenario, wanting to leave town smoothly and peacefully seemed unlikely.

The best he could do was find a path with relatively fewer zombies to reduce the chance of direct confrontation.

"Hey, Wang, are you done? It’s just an explosion, what’s so interesting? If you’re not leaving, I’m heading down to the car to lie down."

"Rush, rush, all you know is to rush!" Wang Zhongyu lowered the binoculars, turned, and gave Wenquan Xin a glare, "You think leaving town is easy? Do you really want to experience the thrill of crashing your head into a car?"

To be honest, Wang Zhongyu’s words did leave Wenquan Xin speechless; although he wanted to argue, recalling the painful memory of shaking to death made him mumble unable to speak.(To be continued.
