Chapter 792: Chapter 777: Curiosity (Part 1)

Wang Zhongyu and Wen Quanxin were incredibly lucky to burst through before the Zombies could form a solid enough encirclement. This escape can only be described as a miracle. If it weren’t for the inexplicable explosion, they would have been doomed.

Wang Zhongyu’s heart, which was pounding fiercely, gradually calmed down, and his eyes, bloodshot from excitement, returned to their normal color. He unbuckled his seatbelt and attempted to release his right foot from the gas pedal, only to find that his stiff nerves could no longer promptly execute the commands from his brain.

It wasn’t until the car had sped several dozen more meters that he managed to lift his foot, causing the speed to gradually decrease.

The cold outside was biting, yet Wang Zhongyu’s back was drenched. This narrow escape made the usually non-religious Wang Zhongyu decide to go back to the villa and bring out the Buddha statue from Liu Fugui’s room to have a proper ritual of thanks.

"Hey, Xiao Wen, how are you? You okay? We broke through successfully! Over!"

Though Wang Zhongyu’s words came out between gasps, the excitement of surviving was evident.

However, Wen Quanxin clearly wasn’t in as good a mood. The lack of a seatbelt during the collision left him dizzy, his head spinning and on the verge of vomiting.

Thankfully, the dire situation didn’t last long. Otherwise, even if they survived, it would have likely cost him half his life.

"Whoa, dude, I’m not dead yet, but I’m damn near it. Next time, bro, do me a favor and give me a heads up before you plan any life-risking stunts, so I can mentally prepare! Damn! Luckily, my heart’s in decent shape, or you’d give me a heart attack. Over!"

"Hahahaha!" Wang Zhongyu laughed heartily at Wen Quanxin finally admitting his weakness. Without even asking, he could imagine how embarrassed the other must look right now, feeling no sympathy at all, but rather a bit of schadenfreude.

Who told this guy to be so unreasonable before, almost getting them buried in a sea of Zombies?

Letting him suffer a bit just now was somewhat of a lesson for him. Relieved from the tense atmosphere, Wang Zhongyu jokingly retorted, "Alright, Wen Quanxin, stop pretending with me. You need to prepare for what? With your physique, you can’t even handle a little turbulence. Over!"

"Damn! Quit chattering. Move the damn car to a stop, and let me sit up front. If I stay back here any longer, I’m gonna be suffocated. Over!"

"As you command, Master Wen!" Wang Zhongyu found a relatively safe place to stop the car, though he kept the engine running, ready to drive off at any moment.

Wen Quanxin swept away the scattered packaging on the floor with his foot, cautiously twisted open the door, and as it swung open, a piercing cold wind instantly hit him, making him shiver uncontrollably.

"This damn weather, no clue when it’ll end!"

"Hey, stop dawdling and get in the car." Wang Zhongyu waved to Wen Quanxin, knowing that standing exposed on the street in the night without the car’s protection was an extremely dangerous move because you never know when the hidden hunter in the darkness might strike a fatal blow.

Humans are a peculiar and complex species, and it’s the special neural system that endows us with these miraculous emotional factors like joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness. Curiosity is one of these traits.

Having recovered from the initial fear and tension of deadly danger, Wang Zhongyu became intrigued by the cause of the explosion.

His strong curiosity drove him to want to visit the scene and figure out the reason.

Of course, he also realized the high level of danger involved. If he were alone, he’d drive there without second thoughts, but there was still Wen Quanxin sitting in the passenger seat, and he couldn’t just act selfishly and follow his inclinations.

Releasing the handbrake, the car continued to move away from the Zombie tide, though the thought of exploring the explosion site lingered persistently in Wang Zhongyu’s mind.

He glanced over at Wen Quanxin beside him, the latter still massaging his temples with his index finger, indicating the numerous collisions just now had taken quite a toll on him.

"Screech!"

Curiosity ultimately triumphed over reason, and Wang Zhongyu decisively pressed down on the brake.

The sudden braking almost caused the unrestrained Wen Quanxin to slam into the dashboard again.

Luckily, he quickly lowered his hands from his temples just in time to avert the danger.

"Damn, Xiao Wang, what’s your problem? Don’t tell me you got dumb from the Zombies. Do you even realize you’re driving? This absent-minded driving can get us killed!" Wen Quanxin’s eyes were as wide as donkey eggs. He was extremely displeased with Wang Zhongyu’s reckless driving style.

Wang Zhongyu chuckled, looking at Wen Quanxin with a bizarre smile, the latter feeling creeped out by his gaze: "What’re you looking at?"

"Feeling better yet?" Wang Zhongyu pointed at his head, inquiring if he still felt dizzy.

Wen Quanxin flicked his hair and sneered, "Better yet? You think you weren’t enjoying the rocking back there? Damn, inside my head feels like a chaotic mess now, dizzying beyond measure."

"Oh, that bad, huh? Now that the car’s stopped, is it any better?"

"Damn, are you really out of it?" Wen Quanxin reached out to feel Wang Zhongyu’s forehead, but got shoved away: "Damn, I was just being concerned, and this is how you react. Fine, let’s talk about something serious."

"What’s the matter? If you’ve got something, just spit it out!"

"Look, turn your head to the rear right of the car." Wang Zhongyu lowered the passenger seat window using the remote control system on the door handle for Wen Quanxin to look out.

But Wen Quanxin clearly wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. He didn’t do as told, continuing to rub his temples instead, and casually replied, "Tsk, look at what? Isn’t it just a bunch of the living dead? Nothing to see."

"Explosion, I’m talking about the explosion earlier. Aren’t you curious about the cause?"

Wen Quanxin stopped his actions, turned to look at the visibly excited Wang Zhongyu, and after a moment, casually replied, "If you want to check it out, go ahead. It’s no big deal!"

Wow, Wang Zhongyu nearly spat out blood at Wen Quanxin’s dismissal. The issue he carefully mulled over was regarded as nothing by the other, which vexed him greatly.

"Fine, you agreed, so don’t blame me if anything happens!" Wang Zhongyu floored the gas pedal.

The car lurched forward sharply, and Wen Quanxin wasn’t as lucky this time. The massive inertia made him stick to the windshield solidly.

Even before he could reprimand Wang Zhongyu, the latter was the first to chime in, saying: "Hold on tight on the road; visibility is bad at night. I can’t guarantee I won’t brake abruptly. If you hit something, don’t say I didn’t warn you."

As if to validate his claim wasn’t false, Wang Zhongyu finished and immediately performed a 180-degree turn, and under centrifugal force, Wen Quanxin once again savored the thrill of an emergency U-turn.
