Chapter 768: Chapter 753: Getting Ready to Make a Move (Part 2)

The terrible weather and the awful snowy roads caused huge trouble for Spring Xiu and his men. By the time they reached the factory, it was already the middle of the night.

The factory, besieged by heavy snow, was eerily silent. Inside the driver’s cabin, the subordinates looked around, searching for the gate guard who should have been there to let them in long ago.

Spring Xiu was dozing off in the back seat when the car suddenly stopped and didn’t move for a long time, causing him to open his eyes warily. He looked around; in his daze, he couldn’t discern this place’s location and asked instinctively, "Why did we stop? Where is this?"

Spring Xiu’s voice clearly startled the two subordinates in the car. They, who had been holding their breath the entire trip, dared not make a sound, especially after hearing his snoring. They sat carefully in the car, fearing to disturb this volatile firebrand. But now...

The subordinate in charge of driving helplessly looked at his partner beside him, and replied nervously, "Brother Spring, we’ve already reached outside the factory, but... "

The moment he heard "but," Spring Xiu’s scalp tingled. He had heard this word too many times today and was fed up with these useless excuses from his subordinates: "But my ass. Since we’re at the factory, hurry up and get in! Damn it, you’ve all wasted so much of my time, I haven’t even eaten! A journey of two hours, you took over five to complete. Even a bloody tortoise would drive faster than you! Get moving or shut your damn mouths, damn it!"

Spring Xiu’s machine-gun-like reprimand forced the words back down the subordinate’s throat. He looked pleadingly at his brother beside him, who turned his face away as though it wasn’t his concern. Of course, if he spoke now, it would be courting disaster.

The subordinate driver was so frustrated he could grind his teeth, cursing internally at this so-called brotherhood. But he had no choice, forced to solve the problem himself against all odds.

"Honk, honk!" Two sudden car honks rang out on the empty street. In the quiet atmosphere, the originally not-too-loud horn noise was amplified, startling even the person responsible for making the noise.

Spring Xiu felt like he was about to explode with anger. He grabbed the black Type 54 pistol from the seat without hesitation and pulled the trigger. The crisp sound of the firing pin striking echoed.

The driver subordinate slightly opened his eyes. He was lucky. If Spring Xiu’s magazine hadn’t been emptied back at the villa without time to reload, he would have already reported to the lower realms with a hole in his head. Nevertheless, the recent "click" sound nearly scared him to death.

"What the hell are you doing? Trying to get me killed? Don’t you know that would attract Zombies? I told you to enter the factory, and you honk the horn like an idiot. Your mom and dad must be pigs for giving birth to something worse than pigs and dogs like you."

The subordinate in the passenger seat, who was originally avoiding the situation, was also frightened by Spring Xiu’s gun-firing action. If he didn’t do something, he would be next in line. He nervously spoke up, "Brother Spring, no... not... we can’t enter the factory, rather... rather the factory... there’s something off."

Seeing his brother open his mouth, the driving subordinate clung to it like a lifeline, agreeing, "Yes! Brother... Brother Spring, the guard... the guard room seems to be empty."

The statements from the subordinates halted Spring Xiu’s tirade. He adjusted himself noncommittally, lying on the back of the driver and passenger seats, slightly leaning forward, "Turn on the flashlight!"

"Oh, yes!" The subordinate hurriedly went to find the flashlight stored in the glove compartment.

Soon, an incandescent beam shone on the guard room to the right in front of the vehicle. As the light moved, Spring Xiu indeed saw no signs of life inside.

If there was someone on duty inside, it made no sense that with such a commotion, there would be no response. The only possibility was that there were no guards stationed in the guard room.

"What the hell is He Lei up to?" With such an important place as the gate guard being unattended, how could Spring Xiu not be furious: "He Lei, you damn bastard, get to the gate immediately!"

Spring Xiu fumed here, wanting to skin He Lei, while He Lei, on the other hand, was snoring comfortably after a hearty meal. When Qiao Shan woke him up to inform him of the situation, he angrily rebuked the latter. However, fortunately, he still had a clear mind, knowing that dealing with the opponent was more important than sleep.

He didn’t directly respond to Spring Xiu but instead contacted those he had previously sent to spy. Upon learning that the other side only had one vehicle, He Lei burst into laughter.

"Damn, heavens are smiling upon me!"

Qiao Shan, seeing He Lei so excited, asked in confusion, "Brother Lei, what’s up? Why are you so happy?"

"Idiot! You can’t wrap your head around it?"

Qiao Shan shook his head, unable to grasp what’s to be excited about the reports from the brothers earlier.

He Lei extended his calloused hand, pointing a finger, "Only one vehicle, that idiot Spring Xiu returned with only one vehicle. Think about it, one vehicle carries at most five people, while our brothers, how many do we have, guns included? Such a simple arithmetic comparison, don’t tell me you can’t calculate."

"Oh, what Brother Lei means is!" Qiao Shan’s eyes sparkled, "Take the opportunity to eliminate them?"

"Duh, do you even need to ask? If not now, do you plan to let them breed?" He Lei gave Qiao Shan a blank look, "But really, it’s surprising, those guys at the villa actually managed Spring Xiu this badly. Seems like Liu Fugui got lucky again, narrowly escaping."

"Brother Lei, what’s our next step?"

"What’s the next step?" He Lei plotted internally. With absolute superiority on their side, dealing with Spring Xiu’s few men didn’t require any strategy. The only thing to do was to have the brothers who went to investigate stall them until their main forces arrived, making it hard for Spring Xiu to escape. But the problem is: "Qiao Shan, let me ask you, how many guns did the brothers we sent out take?"

"Just one imitation Type 64, the rest are all knives." Qiao Shan answered truthfully, frowning He Lei’s brows: "Damn it, you’re too stingy."

If the subordinates monitoring now had at least two guns, He Lei believed that once they drew Spring Xiu and his group into the factory, there wouldn’t be any worries about them escaping.

But now, it was uncertain. He had spent some time in Spring Xiu’s lair and was well aware of the firepower the other side had.

So, although they only had one vehicle, he believed that the weaponry and equipment on that vehicle were certainly not something the five subordinates at the scene could handle.

He Lei now hoped that when conflict arose, they could delay them long enough for him to arrive on the scene.

Moreover, for He Lei, he needed to confirm whether Spring Xiu was in the vehicle. Otherwise, all his efforts and resources spent returning to the factory would lose their essence.

Just as He Lei weighed the pros and cons in his mind, Spring Xiu made a new move. He ordered the subordinate in the front passenger seat to climb over the fence and investigate inside the factory.

All this was immediately communicated to He Lei: "So, he’s just a cowardly old fox."

He Lei picked up the hand-held radio; he had to speak up, otherwise, if that subordinate discovered anything unusual in the factory, alerting Spring Xiu who might then leave, they would miss the best opportunity to eliminate this would-be arch-enemy.
