Chapter 612: The Omen of Frost

Third Person’s POV

To anyone watching, it looked less like she was leaving after a lecture and more as though she were escaping from someone pursuing her.

Naturally, such unusual behavior attracted everyone’s attention.

Many students watched her retreating figure before exchanging amused whispers.

Most of them assumed she had finally begun regretting slapping Sharon and was now attempting to avoid the inevitable retaliation from the influential Lucerra Family.

The lazy black-haired girl, however, merely rested her chin upon one hand while quietly observing Aurelia’s disappearing back.

Unlike everyone else, she clearly didn’t believe that explanation.

As for Eleanor, her brows knitted together almost imperceptibly.

She wished to stop Aurelia and ask what had truly happened.

However, doing so before the entire class would immediately expose the unusually close relationship they shared.

Therefore, she remained silent.

Meanwhile, Aurelia hurried through one academy corridor after another, directly heading toward the district occupied by the hallowed Purple Batch students.

However, before she could travel very far, the entire academy suddenly shook violently.

BOOM!

A deep rumbling echoed beneath the ground, and Aurelia’s expression instantly changed.

Without thinking, she hurriedly grabbed the nearest stone pillar as the ground beneath her feet continued trembling violently.

The entire academy seemed to sway.

Panicked screams erupted from surrounding buildings as countless students stumbled across the courtyards trying to regain their balance.

The earthquake continued for nearly an entire minute before finally subsiding as everyone held on for dear life.

Fortunately, the New Moon Magic Academy had stood proudly for countless centuries.

Every building, corridor, tower, and courtyard of this academy had been reinforced by ancient magical formations beyond ordinary imagination.

And despite the terrifying tremors, none of the academy’s structures suffered any visible damage.

However, before anyone could even breathe in relief, another shocking phenomenon began unfolding.

The surrounding ice elemental mana suddenly became unimaginably dense as it began gathering from every direction at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Within moments, the ancient grey stone walls, polished marble floors, towering pillars, majestic statues, rooftops, and even the bare branches of the surrounding trees became encased beneath thick layers of crystal-clear ice instead of the light blanket of snow that had covered them only moments ago.

The temperature plummeted at an alarming rate, while a dense white mist rapidly spread across the academy grounds as it swallowed buildings and pathways alike until visibility itself began decreasing.

Within only a few minutes, the entire academy resembled a frozen world swallowed by an endless blizzard, where every breath seemed capable of freezing within one’s lungs.

Aurelia’s teeth involuntarily began chattering, and she could clearly feel that even after circulating her mana throughout her body, the biting cold continued invading her flesh little by little, almost as though it possessed a will of its own.

Realizing that the situation was becoming increasingly abnormal, she immediately reached into her storage ring before retrieving a crimson crystal vial.

Without the slightest hesitation, she uncorked it.

The moment the orange liquid entered her mouth, an intense burning sensation exploded throughout her throat.

It felt as though molten lava had been poured directly into her body.

The unbearable heat forced tears into the corners of her eyes, while every breath she took seemed capable of scorching her lungs from the inside.

Fortunately, that agonizing sensation lasted only a few brief moments.

Soon afterward, a soothing warmth gradually spread through every part of her body, flowing from her stomach toward her limbs before finally reaching even the tips of her fingers.

An almost invisible crimson aura quietly enveloped her figure and shielded her from the overwhelming cold that continued to seep into the surroundings.

Because of her naturally fiery red hair, however, that faint crimson aura blended almost perfectly with her own mana fluctuations, making it appear no different from an ordinary mana barrier to anyone observing her from afar.

The potion she had just consumed was a Rank Two Molten Core Potion.

Unlike ordinary potions sold in the academy markets, this one had been brewed personally by Aurelia after years of painstaking practice and countless failed attempts, after she had discovered its formula scroll in a forgotten ruin around three years ago.

Such a formula scroll was very precious, and around two to three unknown Rank Two formula scrolls could even be equal to the price of a rare Grade Four herb like the Frost Soul Orchid.

So, she had only revealed its existence to Eleanor, who had advised her to try to brew it herself.

To outsiders, drinking a Rank Two potion might not have sounded particularly impressive, but among mages, it represented an achievement that very few could accomplish.

Potion making had always been regarded as one of the most prestigious and demanding professions in the magical world.

Not only did it require an innately powerful soul capable of maintaining flawless concentration for extended periods, but it also demanded years of relentless study, expensive ingredients, repeated experimentation, and an almost obsessive level of patience before one could even hope to become a genuine potion master.

The reason Aurelia had chosen this difficult path from the very beginning wasn’t merely because of her love for alchemy.

She had understood long ago that the moment a person became a true potion master, even the lowest-ranked one capable of brewing Rank Two potions, their status would undergo a complete transformation.

Of course, an influential Marquis household like the Lucerra Family naturally wouldn’t even remotely fear or submit to a mere Rank Two Potion Master.

Their foundation and influence were simply too great for that.

Nevertheless, even they would think twice before offending such a person without reason, as every potion master inevitably attracted connections with powerful experts and influential organizations over the years.

More importantly, once she officially revealed herself as a Rank Two Potion Master, she would immediately become eligible to join the prestigious Alchemy Association, one of the most respected organizations on the Dark Star Continent.

Membership alone would grant her tremendous prestige, legal protection, access to rare alchemical knowledge, valuable resources, and countless opportunities that ordinary mages could only dream of obtaining.

Even so, Aurelia had deliberately concealed the fact that she had already become capable of brewing Rank Two potions.
