Chapter 594: The Two Heirs
Third Person’s POV
"And before you misunderstand, it was never her fault."
Her expression grew serious as she leaned slightly forward.
"You may not know this, Young Master, but it is exceptionally difficult for Heaven Connection realm existences to produce offspring.
Once a being reaches such a level, their state of existence undergoes a qualitative transformation.
Their bodies, souls, and bloodlines become so advanced that their reproductive compatibility with weaker beings becomes extraordinarily rare."
The carriage continued rolling through the snowy streets as her calm voice filled the enclosed space.
"Their vitality becomes too powerful, and their bloodline becomes too transcendent.
Their existence itself begins to transcend what ordinary beings can withstand.
As a result, even if a forbidden existence possesses countless partners, producing a child remains exceedingly difficult."
A bitter smile appeared on her face.
"The Ice Emperor’s situation is no exception.
Despite the vast size of his harem and the countless beauties who have shared his bed throughout the centuries, the number of children he has produced can still be counted on one hand."
Ethan remained silent for several moments after hearing her explanation, as this was entirely new information to him.
Every Rank Five existence he had encountered thus far had been female, and none of them had possessed husbands or spoken about matters involving descendants.
Because of that, he had never considered such complications before.
The idea that overwhelming power could become an obstacle to something as fundamental as producing offspring was both fascinating and strange to him.
Still, despite understanding the explanation, Ethan felt that Shixea had yet to answer the most important question.
The existence of the Ice Emperor’s children explained why they were so few in number, but it still did not explain Dominic IceHeart’s extraordinary position within the city.
Finally, he returned to the core issue.
"But how is any of this related to Dominic IceHeart?"
His voice remained calm, but his eyes sharpened slightly.
After all, everything she had revealed so far felt less like an answer and more like preparation for one.
Seeing that Ethan had immediately identified the true heart of the matter, Shixea nodded slowly.
She had deliberately provided all of that background information so that the next piece of information would make sense.
And now that the foundation had been laid, she prepared herself to finally explain the real reason why Dominic IceHeart held such extraordinary power within Ice Emperor City.
"As you might have guessed, slightly young master, the birth of two heirs had finally raised a sense of crisis within the heart of Dominic IceHeart.
And because of that, he has started to use underhanded means to suppress them, use them, and turn them against each other.
He is especially using Arlene and has poisoned her against my son Erius, leading to very bad relations between them that have been bordering on the level of blood feud.
And Arlene and her mother are not ready to even listen to my viewpoint regarding our common enemy.
Arlene’s mother, the Ice Empress, has always been very close to Dominic since the days she married the Ice Emperor, as he was always present very rarely in the Ice Emperor City.
And even now, she believes that since my child is a boy, he is a threat to her daughter’s path to the ice throne."
Shixea said all this in a single breath, and Ethan almost rolled his eyes at this complex family feud that was explained to him.
He didn’t bother hiding the sneer on his face and instead let it remain there openly as he leaned back slightly and crossed his hands over one knee.
A low mocking laugh escaped his lips before he spoke, his crimson eyes carrying an unmistakable trace of mockery.
"Well, well, well... so in the end, it was nothing more than an old and typical family feud.
A struggle between two wives trying to push their own children toward the throne while pulling everyone else down."
The moment those words left his mouth, the atmosphere inside the carriage seemed to cool noticeably.
Shixea’s beautiful face remained calm, but the leisure in her eyes vanished completely.
At almost the same time, the carriage came to a sudden halt, causing the wooden frame to creak softly.
Without changing her posture or expression, she looked directly at Ethan and replied in a frosty voice.
"Well, Young Master, regardless of how typical or cliche you believe this situation to be, you have already become involved in it.
Whether you like it or not, you now have little choice but to cooperate and follow the arrangements that have been made by me."
The moment she returned his mockery with one of her own, Ethan’s expression did not change in the slightest.
Instead, he simply laughed again.
It was not loud laughter, nor was it particularly arrogant, yet something about it made Shixea frown inwardly.
She could not understand what he found amusing.
Normally, a person in his position would have felt frustration, helplessness, or at least some degree of resentment after being humbled and reminded of the reality of their circumstances.
Yet Ethan seemed completely unaffected.
As for Ethan himself, he had expected exactly this kind of equally scathing response from her.
Ever since meeting her, he had gradually realized that beneath her gentle appearance, graceful manners, and soft-spoken voice hid an extremely proud and calculating woman.
She knew how to conceal her claws behind a smile and how to wrap threats in silk.
She would never take hits from any person and would counterattack with all the fierceness she had.
Her response only strengthened Ethan’s desire to one day teach her a lesson she would never forget.
However, before either of them could continue the exchange, Shixea shifted the topic.
"We have arrived at the New Moon Magic Academy, Young Master."
Her expression returned to normal so quickly that it was almost impossible to believe she had been irritated only moments ago.
"From this moment onward, I suggest that you should remain extremely careful around the Academy Headmaster and, more importantly, our target Dominic."
