Chapter 574: Ethan v/s Elis (2)

Third Person’s POV

The attack was unbelievably fast and carried a terrifying, lethal sharpness.

The moment Ethan sensed it, warning signals exploded wildly within his instincts.

He immediately realized that dodging them completely or counterattacking against them at such close distance was impossible since the leaves heading towards him were too fast.

At the same time, he didn’t want to underestimate the abilities of a Sky Realm elf mage, so he decided to defend against this simple-looking but dangerous spell with his full strength.

Without hesitation, Ethan crossed both his arms defensively in front of himself while simultaneously augmenting his skin and muscles with frost to the maximum extent possible, especially his hands and forearms.

His hands seemed to transform into frozen sculptures of ice as the icy blue color deepened over his skin.

Then the twin crescent leaves arrived, and a sharp slicing sound echoed throughout the room.

The attack still broke through his defense partially and slashed across both his forearms, leaving behind two thin but surprisingly two inch deep bloody lines.

Pain surged through Ethan’s mind instantly.

However, the injuries were shallow, and the damage was far less than what Elis had expected from such a lethal spell.

Not only that, the pain itself was nowhere near enough to stop Ethan’s charge.

Instead, Ethan forcefully adjusted his posture midair despite the impact.

His body twisted unnaturally before he accelerated once more like a descending missile toward Elis.

Seeing this, Elis was truly shocked.

The Leaf Crescent spell that she had just fired was not some ordinary area spell focused on destruction.

It was one of her specialized lethal ambush spells focused entirely upon speed and cutting power.

She had used it to kill many overconfident enemies before, yet now, even that spell had failed to seriously injure this strange young man.

His reaction speed was monstrous, and the toughness of his body was equally terrifying.

At that moment, Ethan no longer resembled a restrained young mage in Elis’s eyes.

Instead, he felt more like some unknown humanoid ice monster wearing the appearance of a handsome human youth.

But despite all this, Elis still had not revealed her true strength yet.

This time, Elis no longer underestimated Ethan even slightly.

The beautiful wood elf’s emerald eyes turned sharp and serious as she suddenly flicked her ancient wooden staff once more.

A series of glowing green seeds instantly shot out from the tip of the staff and scattered throughout the air around Ethan.

The seeds did not even touch the ground.

Instead, while still suspended in midair, they suddenly burst apart and transformed into thick barbed vines that shot toward Ethan from multiple directions simultaneously.

There were more than fifteen of them.

The luxurious white chamber instantly filled with shrill whistling sounds as the vines tore through the air like venomous serpents lunging toward prey.

Seeing the overwhelming wave of attacks converging upon him from all sides, Ethan instantly realized one thing.

This time, dodging alone would not be enough, and without hesitation, he touched his spatial ring.

In the next instant, a half-broken black saber appeared within his grasp.

It was none other than his Black Dragon Saber.

Even though the saber was damaged and incomplete, the moment Ethan held it once more, an icy sharpness surfaced within his crimson eyes.

The familiar weight of the weapon calmed his thoughts instantly.

Without wasting even a fraction of a second, Ethan circulated his icy mana throughout his arms and forcefully augmented the damaged black blade.

A freezing blue aura spread across the saber.

Then Ethan slashed forward with his full bodily strength.

The first two incoming vines were instantly severed apart.

Frozen cracks spread across their surfaces before the thick vines shattered into icy fragments midair.

However, Ethan did not even have the time to relax as another vine suddenly shot toward his neck from a blind spot behind him.

Its timing was vicious and precise, yet Ethan’s reaction speed was equally terrifying.

He seemed to have eyes behind his head, as with only a minimal movement of his neck and shoulders, he narrowly dodged the attack by mere inches.

At almost the same moment, another vine lunged toward his waist from the side.

Ethan twisted his body unnaturally in midair to avoid it.

His movements flowed smoothly despite the awkward airborne position.

However, during that brief scuffle, one of the barbed vines finally managed to wrap tightly around his leg.

Many of the thorns on it managed to pierce his leg and draw blood while its powerful pulling force erupted instantly.

Ethan’s body was violently dragged downward toward the floor.

For a brief moment, his balance and orientation became disordered from the sudden force.

The vine’s strength was astonishingly powerful, but Ethan reacted almost instinctively.

A freezing blue arc flashed through the air as he swung the broken saber downward and severed the vine wrapped around his leg.

The cut vine recoiled violently while dark green liquid splattered across the white floor.

However, because the height was too small and the pulling force too sudden, Ethan still crashed heavily onto the ground.

A loud sound echoed throughout the chamber.

Yet before Elis could take advantage of the opening, Ethan forcefully stabilized himself once more.

Without wasting time staring at the wood elf woman or exchanging another word with her, Ethan immediately shot toward her again like a predator lunging at prey.

This time, he remained low upon the ground instead of attacking from above.

His movements became even faster and more oppressive.

Any vine that appeared before him was either dodged narrowly or cut apart instantly by the broken black saber covered in icy mana.

The small battle inside the luxurious chamber had already reached an absurd intensity.

Everything was happening so quickly that even Elis had started to feel pressured despite being a genuine Sky Realm Mage.

The white royal room that had looked elegant and serene only moments ago had now become a battlefield filled with shattered frost, broken vines, scattered wood splinters, and freezing mana fluctuations.
