Chapter 573: Ethan v/s Elis (1)
Third Person’s POV
Especially those crimson eyes.
They did not resemble the gaze of an inexperienced young noble or some sheltered academy student.
Instead, they carried a dangerous sharpness of a dangerous wild beast that instinctively made her feel slight caution.
However, the surprise within Elis quickly faded.
Because she immediately remembered that the FrostStar City Lord, Ivan Froststar himself, had personally sealed Ethan’s mana veins thoroughly.
No matter how mysterious this young man was, he should not have been capable of posing any threat to her now.
Thinking this, Elis calmed down completely.
Her wooden staff suddenly radiated a bright green glow.
The little seed lying upon the floor trembled violently.
Then, in the next second, a multitude of thick green vines erupted wildly from the tiny seed.
The luxurious white chamber instantly filled with the loud sounds of cracking wood and tearing plants as the vines expanded crazily in all directions.
Each vine was thick like a grown man’s thigh and several metres long, while sharp thorn-like protrusions covered their surfaces.
They twisted violently through the air like gigantic lightning-fast pythons as they rushed toward Ethan from multiple directions at once with frightening speed.
Since the space inside the luxurious chamber was relatively small and Ethan intended to subdue this elf woman as quickly as possible before the other people found out that he had woken up, he forcefully calmed the anger boiling within his heart and entered a state of absolute focus.
The fury within his crimson eyes slowly disappeared and was replaced by an unnatural coldness that seemed to merge with the freezing aura radiating continuously from his body.
His breathing steadied, and his thoughts sharpened.
At that moment, Ethan’s entire focus concentrated solely upon the attacking vines rushing toward him from every direction.
The thick green vines tore through the air like lightning-fast pythons as they twisted and lunged toward him with frightening speed.
Yet Ethan’s body reacted almost instinctively.
With lightning-fast reflexes, he narrowly dodged the multitude of incoming vines through simple but precise movements.
Sometimes he tilted his head slightly, and sometimes he adjusted his shoulders by barely an inch.
At other moments, he twisted his waist or shifted his footing with incredible precision.
Every movement was minimal, efficient, and perfectly timed.
He utilized the full flexibility and balance of his body to evade the attacks without wasting even a fraction of unnecessary movement.
Seeing this, Elis was genuinely shocked.
Her beautiful emerald eyes widened slightly as disbelief surfaced within them.
She simply could not understand how some young man who was most likely only at the Elemental Sea Realm could actually react to the magic attacks of a Sky Realm Mage and take defensive actions against them so calmly.
By all common sense and logic, Ethan should have been restrained instantly.
His soul senses should not even have been fast enough to properly perceive the speed of her magic, let alone dodge it so fluidly.
But this mysterious young man was not only reacting to her attacks, he was also avoiding them with astonishing precision, even though he had never witnessed her magic beforehand.
More importantly, his movements were unbelievably experienced.
Every dodge flowed naturally into the next one without him ever losing balance or overcommitting himself.
It looked less like frantic evasion and more like instinct born from countless life-and-death battles.
Was he an aura master?
Otherwise, how could his body be so strong, and he being experienced in hand-to-hand combat?
That thought instantly surfaced within Elis’s mind.
Countless thoughts flashed through her head within a single second, but Ethan did not give her any further opportunity to think calmly.
A freezing blue aura suddenly gathered around both his fists, and the temperature within the room dropped sharply.
His hands rapidly turned into a frozen, icy blue shade as frost spread over his skin like crystalline armor.
Then, after dodging the first wave of attacks, Ethan directly punched toward the vines that counterattacked him once more.
The moment his fists collided against them, the thick vines froze instantly.
In the next second, cracking sounds echoed loudly, and the frozen vines shattered apart into countless icy fragments that scattered throughout the luxurious room.
Elis’s eyes widened further, and her shock deepened instantly.
Before she could properly process what had happened, Ethan stepped upon one of the attacking vines and used it as leverage.
In the next instant, he shot into the air like a human missile and charged directly toward the wood elf woman.
At that moment, Elis finally became truly alarmed.
The fact that Ethan had shattered her magically reinforced vines so easily was already shocking enough.
At the same time, she clearly remembered that Ivan Froststar himself had personally sealed Ethan’s mana veins thoroughly before leaving.
So how was he still capable of resisting her magic and using ice powers at all?
It should have been impossible.
Also, the way Ethan used his icy power felt completely different from that of ordinary mages.
Instead of casting spells through incantations and mana formations, he directly augmented his body itself with elemental power.
It resembled the combat methods of those terrifying demonic warriors from the Blood Veil Continent far more than the fighting style of a mage.
Those demonic races possessed naturally powerful physiques and could strengthen their bodies further with elemental energy while fighting at close range like monsters.
At this moment, Ethan seemed to be doing exactly the same thing, yet he clearly seemed to be a human.
That contradiction made Elis’s thoughts chaotic with confusion.
How could a human possess a body capable of such things?
Even though unanswered questions continuously surfaced within her mind, Elis still did not panic.
Years of combat experience kept her calm despite Ethan descending toward her rapidly through the air.
Her beautiful emerald eyes sharpened instantly.
Without hesitation, she raised her ancient wooden staff high into the air.
In the next second, a pair of razor-sharp crescent leaves materialized before her and shot toward Ethan like green lightning.
