Chapter 362: Chapter 142: Sweep

Riding the whistling wind, its sharp horn aimed straight for Yang Jing’s chest, threatening to impale him on the spot.

Yang Jing’s expression remained unchanged in the face of the black bull’s ferocious charge. His footwork suddenly quickened, and with the ethereal grace of a phantom, he dodged to the side. His movements were so light and fast that they left only a faint afterimage of his green robe.

He had long since mastered the Stormy Wave Legs to the Transformation realm. His Body Technique was fluid and graceful, far surpassing that of other Martial Artists at his level. In his eyes, the bull’s seemingly ferocious charge was riddled with openings.

The instant he sidestepped the Single-Horned Black Bull’s charge, Yang Jing lowered his stance. Inner Strength surged through him as he clenched his right fist and, without hesitation, swung it at the bull’s thick neck.

His fist cut through the air with a dull roar, carrying the full, concentrated force of his Inner Strength. Its power was immense.

THUD! The fist landed squarely on the Single-Horned Black Bull’s neck, unleashing a massive burst of power.

The Single-Horned Black Bull’s massive body jerked to a halt before being sent flying sideways, crashing heavily onto the high platform with a deafening thud. The stage itself seemed to shudder violently from the impact.

After hitting the ground, the black bull struggled to rise, its throat emitting pained whimpers. Blood streamed from the corner of its mouth, dripping down its sleek black hide to stain the bluestone slabs red.

But its innate ferocity remained. Despite being grievously injured, it still thrashed about, attempting to get back on its feet and attack again.

Yang Jing’s figure flickered. Pushing his Stormy Wave Legs Body Technique to the limit, he reappeared in front of the bull in the next instant.

This time, he didn’t use his fist. He raised his right hand, curling his fingers slightly as all of his Inner Strength converged in his palm. Even though he had never practiced any palm-based martial arts, the power swirling there was still immense.

His Indestructible True Skill had long since reached the Transformation realm, tempering his body to be incredibly durable and making his Inner Strength profound and heavy. At this point, even a casual palm strike from him surpassed the full-powered blow of an ordinary Huajin Martial Artist.

Without hesitation, Yang Jing brought his palm down hard on the bull’s head.

His palm landed on the bull’s head with a muffled CRACK.

Immense power surged from his palm. The bull’s massive body shuddered violently, then went completely limp. Its head lolled lifelessly, the light faded from its eyes, and only faint, occasional gasps escaped its throat. Its spirit was broken. It was on its last breath, all ability to fight completely gone.

The second round of the Dragon Gate Martial Trial had always been a major stumbling block for most disciples.

The innate physical prowess of these beasts, nurtured by the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi, made their combat strength far superior to that of ordinary wild animals.

Even seasoned disciples at the Peak of Transformation often struggled against them, and most would be eliminated in this round. Very few ever made it past the second trial.

Yet this formidable Single-Horned Black Bull hadn’t lasted even a moment against Yang Jing. It was left on its last breath with just a single punch and a single palm strike. Such a swift and decisive victory was utterly beyond anyone’s expectations.

A wave of gasps erupted from below the platform. The spectating disciples stared wide-eyed at the figure on stage, their faces filled with shock. The buzz of discussion grew even louder than before.

The disciples from Lingxi Peak were especially stunned. They put their heads together, whispering to one another in tones of utter disbelief.

They had been cultivating on Lingxi Peak for a long time, yet they had never noticed such a powerful figure hiding in their midst. When Yang Jing first took the stage, they had dismissed him as just an ordinary disciple who quietly focused on his training. They never imagined his strength was on this level.

Standing in the crowd, Jia Yuliang was rooted to the spot. His mouth hung slightly open, his eyes filled with utter shock.

He had secretly speculated that Yang Jing, having only just broken through to the Peak of Transformation, had rashly entered the Dragon Gate Martial Trial. He figured Yang Jing would be defeated after one or two rounds at most, but the scene before him completely shattered that assumption.

Not only had Yang Jing passed the second round with ease, but he had done so by killing the beast with such overwhelming force. This display of power was far beyond Jia Yuliang’s imagination.

’Even if I went all out, I could never make it look so effortless.’ The power in that single punch and palm strike alone was enough to leave him in the dust, to say nothing of the astonishing speed Yang Jing had just displayed.

...

On the high platform, Yang Jing showed no signs of complacency despite his easy victory. His expression remained calm and solemn as he raised a hand to brush a bit of dust from his green robe, his eyes devoid of any pride.

’This is only the second round,’ he thought, ’and there are two more trials waiting for me, each more dangerous than the last. I have to stay vigilant if I want to make it through. I can’t let my guard down for a second.’

Before long, the Main Peak Steward returned to the platform. He heaved the limp body of the Single-Horned Black Bull into an iron cage, then leaped off the stage with it in hand.

Moments later, he hurried back, this time carrying a slightly smaller iron cage on his shoulder. He leaped onto the platform again and set the cage down firmly in the center.

Yang Jing looked up at the cage. Inside was a giant wolf covered in sleek, silver fur that shone with a cold luster in the morning light.

Its sharp claws and fangs were exposed, glinting with a deadly white light. A pair of ice-blue eyes stared intently from the cage, its gaze savage and fierce.

It exuded an aura of savagery even more intense than that of the Single-Horned Black Bull. Roughly the size of a grown calf, it was a truly terrifying sight.
