Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Desperation
After some thought, the leader on the roof finally compromised.
"Half." He said reluctantly.
The people behind him began murmuring about giving away too much.
However, the leader seemed to have some prestige since he only gave them a look and everyone lowered their heads in submission.
"Half it is." Leng Pan said before she turned to her teammates.
"Let’s take care of the zombies." She instructed.
In fact, it wasn’t about taking care of the zombies but showing off their strength to their opponents on the roof, lest they get ideas while they were collecting supplies later.
In the apocalypse, there was nothing like a peaceful alliance. If they got the chance, those people would definitely stab them in the back.
She wanted to avoid such a situation. So, she wanted to show them a little of their strength and make them wary so that they don’t act recklessly.
"Yes, sister-in-law." Lu Hao said with a shallow smile.
Lu Zhen noticed that his second brother was becoming more and more human, especially when Leng Pan was involved.
He had learned to smile and even sulk.
A couple of days ago he had seen him throwing a tantrum and insisting on joining the training team even though he obviously didn’t need it.
Li Yunjia thought that he was just tiring himself up for nothing, so she had forbidden him from leaving the house.
Who would have thought that Lu Hao would refuse to eat or drink anything until he was allowed to go out.
However, Li Yunjia was happy about it because it showed that he had accepted them as family and was even showing his true self to them.
Now, he was even smiling at his sister-in-law and was treating her the way Lu Tao usually did.
Lu Zhen didn’t need to think too much to know that he had picked up these habits from his younger brother, Lu Tao.
Nevertheless, he said nothing.
Lu Hao stood up in the boat and his body suddenly erupted with lightning that could strike any normal human dead.
Without another word, Chu Miao raised her hand and the zombies near the entrance rose from the water while surrounded by a thin layer of water.
Leng Pan was using her ability to drag them out of the water so that Lu Hao could deliver the most direct hit.
As expected, when the lightning descended and struck the zombies, they were all electrocuted on the spot and not one remained intact.
Leng Pan then let the charred bodies sink into the water.
The light on the disk also flashed green repeatedly.
All the zombies had been eliminated.
Those on the roof who had been complaining about giving away half of the supplies in the building nearly peed their pants when they witnessed this scene.
"Boss is still the wisest. If we had insisted on fighting with them earlier instead of sharing the supplies, not only would we have lost the supplies, but probably our lives too." One of the team members at the back spoke. Taking a couple of steps back as if to hide.
"That’s true. It’s a good thing the boss didn’t decide to fight. Otherwise, with this kind of strength, we wouldn’t have a chance of survival." Another person said.
"I didn’t expect them to be so strong. Them letting us take half of the supplies was actually a great favor. If they were bad people, with their strength, they could simply monopolize everything and force us to leave empty-handed." The leader spoke solemnly.
"That’s true. We thought we were compromising, but it seems that they were the ones compromising." Another person spoke.
"Alright, everyone, be careful of what you do later and don’t provoke them." The leader warned and no one dared to disobey.
After all, no one wanted to be turned into charcoal for no reason.
"Okay, let’s go down and collect what we can." The leader ordered and the group headed to the rooftop door.
Leng Pan on the other hand, told Assistant Yao and the other person at the helm of the other boat to get closer to the building and tie the boats there.
She also took out a couple of rubber boats and tied each to one motor boat.
"We can’t expose the space superpower even if it’s already exposed. Take supplies into the space discreetly but try to fill these four boats to make it look believable." She instructed her team who nodded in understanding.
Once that was done Leng Pan’s gaze sharpened as she eyed the top of the building.
"We will enter the building through the roof. Let’s go." She said and took the first step.
"Be careful," she said calmly as she stepped onto the ice staircase she had created earlier. Her boots made a soft crunching sound against the frozen surface as she ascended toward the rooftop.
Lu Zhen followed closely behind her, his eyes scanning every corner with quiet vigilance.
The rest of their team moved in formation, maintaining distance but staying within striking range of one another.
Even though there wasn’t immediate danger around them, they couldn’t let their guard down.
Experience told them that in the apocalypse, danger could pop out of thin air.
On the rooftop, the opposing team had already gathered near the stairwell entrance.
Up close, their condition was far worse than it had appeared from a distance.
Their clothes were worn and stained, their faces pale from malnutrition, and their eyes...those eyes carried a mix of wariness, desperation, and suppressed hostility.
Leng Pan understood immediately.
These people had been struggling and that struggle had made them cling desperately to whatever they could find.
The leader stepped forward again, lowering his gun slightly this time.
"You go first," he said, his tone no longer as aggressive as before.
Leng Pan raised an eyebrow.
"You’re letting us take the lead?" she asked.
The man gave a bitter smile.
"With your strength, if you wanted to ambush us, you wouldn’t need tricks."
Blaze snorted behind her.
