Chapter 528: Daisy is not a cutie
Taranis had not even moved yet when the bone began forming from his arm, its tip glowing with white energy. The process was swift, yet every moment of it was excruciating. Followed by the bones, muscles and nerves formed, weaving themselves together with surgical precision, and finally the porcelain skin covered it, his arm turning whole again as if it was never even ripped to begin with.
"So this transformation did not reduce the pain of regeneration," Taranis murmured, his brows slightly furrowing as he felt the cold air touching his nerves during the process. "Well, pain is the one thing that has become as close to me as Nymeria and Ume."
He shook his head with a light chuckle, his comet like eyes shifting to the leviathan before him that had opened its black hole like maw at him, devouring everything from its suction force. The debris of cement and marbles, the broken wasteland beneath, and even the pieces of its own destroyed tentacles, everything began falling into the endless pit of its maw. The wind howled, whipping around Taranis with increasing intensity.
Taranis’s clothes fluttered forward and before long, his body slowly dragged as well, his feet skidding on the slimy skin of the tentacle beneath him. The suction was growing stronger, the creature’s hunger insatiable.
"If you wanna eat something..." Taranis murmured, his hands forming a series of hand signs as he began creating a new skill thanks to his high understanding of yang energy. "Try eating this!"
The circular mark on his right palm began glowing as he descended it downward, the light intensifying with every passing second. From the motion of his hand, the clouds in the sky split apart, revealing a gigantic palm of translucent white energy descending from the heavens.
The air trembled around the palm as waves of white energy rippled from its surface. The pressure it carried was so overwhelming that the clouds continued parting in its wake, while the ground below cracked apart before the palm had even reached it. Deep fissures spread across the earth, the sound of breaking stone echoing through the night.
The ground shook as it drew closer and even the Leviathan stopped its suction, its vertical slit eyes turning upward. For the first time, the monstrous creature remained completely still, frozen from the overwhelming force descending from above.
"I-is he really a god?" Orion murmured, falling on his back, completely bewildered by the sight before him.
As the palm landed, the land cracked open, erupting dust and debris. The surrounding turned blinding as the palm glowed like a sun descended upon the earth, lighting up the area to the radius of several kilometres. The world became a sea of white light, erasing all shadows.
Deafening noises of destruction echoed, followed by the sizzling sound of the extreme yang meeting the creature of abyss.
After a few minutes when the sight was finally cleared, a palm shaped massive, deep print was left on earth with fingers stretching to several hundred metres while the central palm itself was of a radius of over five hundred metres.
What remained at the centre of the crater was the splattered body of the Leviathan, dark blood splattered from its body as though a mosquito had been swatted, and Taranis, completely unscathed by the aftermath of the attack, or more accurately, already healed from the impact.
"I will name this skill, Four Heavens Buddha Palm: Heavenly Judgement," Taranis declared to himself with a satisfied nod before shifting his gaze to Orion who was lying at the tip of the middle finger of the strike.
"As I thought, you could only teleport for a short distance," Taranis said, appearing beside him in a flicker of motion, his white eyes glaring at Orion who had his both legs destroyed as he could not dodge the heavenly palm in time.
"H-how could you possess such power?" Orion muttered, his heavy eyes fixed on Taranis’s figure. Perhaps he was too exhausted or was at his end, only a flicker of his sanity was restored. "With someone as powerful as you protecting this world, the Doom might be stopped."
Taranis drew his blade from the inventory, the white steel gleaming under the moonlight. "This world will not become the next Rukadvatta, even if I will not be there to see it."
The blade swung with a quick but smooth motion, forming a line across Orion’s neck. The strike was so soothing that instead of pain, what Orion felt was... peace.
"Thank you..." He whispered with a faint smile as he slowly closed his eyes, his body going limp.
"Sorry to break it to you, Archmage Orion," Taranis sighed, cancelling the transformation. His hair returned to their raven black, falling on his shoulders, the sun vanishing from his chest and the disc from his back breaking into countless pieces and mixing with the air like fireflies before completely vanishing.
Taranis put Orion’s body into his inventory and revealed, his voice carrying a hint of determination, "you are not resting just yet."
Using the Void Step he reached the centre of the crater again where the lifeless corpse of the leviathan remained, its massive form still radiating faint traces of dark energy.
He guided yin energy in one palm, yang in the other and merged them together. The energy first sharply opposed, trying to devour each other in a violent struggle. Veins bulged on Taranis’s arms as he refused to move his hands back, sweat trickling down his temples. Slowly the two energies began forming an equilibrium, turning into a hand sized creature like a drop of water with a black head and white tail. It only had a coin sized hole on its faceless face.
"It’s more difficult than I thought to conjure a soul," Taranis sighed, wiping the sweat from his temple. He learned this ability from the skill Soul Conjuration but never used it before, as the Angry Soul from the Blade of Death devoured the souls of his opponents.
He guided the conjured soul towards the leviathan where its small mouth began devouring the dark shadow like energy emerging from somewhere deep inside the leviathan’s body. The soul’s form began changing as it absorbed the dark energy, its shape twisting and growing more defined. In a few seconds, it took the exact shape of the leviathan with eight tentacles, the only difference being that its black body had patterns of white across it, and more over, it was only the size of his palm and looked rather... cute.
Ding...
"The soul is nameless! Give the soul a name. [Enter name]"
Taranis silently looked at its floating tentacles that reminded him of the petals of flowers. A soft smile crossed his lips. He typed the name on the screen with his tongue out, concentrating.
"Would you like to register ’Daisy’ as the name for your third conjured soul? [Yes] [No]"
He pressed the yes button with a satisfied nod, watching as the tiny creature bobbed happily in the air before him.
"The name has been successfully registered."
