Chapter 604: Chapter 603- It’s about to happen
"No can do, Darling," Annabelle said as she dragged Adrian through the hallway, pulling him toward the room.
"But Bella, they need to arrange the flowers properly. Aria doesn’t like blue lilies," Adrian argued.
"I’ll take care of it, so don’t worry. Your only job right now is to get ready for the wedding." Once they stepped inside the room, she turned to him with a gentle smile. "It’s not just her wedding, Darling. You need to look good too."
Adrian let out a long sigh, his shoulders slumping.
"Truth be told, I’m just trying to keep myself distracted," he admitted.
A faint smile spread across Annabelle’s lips.
"Are you nervous, Darling?"
"Of course I am. It’s my first time getting married," he replied.
Annabelle couldn’t help but giggle. It wasn’t often that she saw Adrian this anxious over something, and the reason behind it was so endearing.
After a brief silence, she spoke again.
"I’m glad, Darling... that you made this decision."
Adrian tilted his head in confusion.
Annabelle lowered her gaze, a trace of longing flickering across her face.
"We all have our own roles and responsibilities to fulfill. Out of all of us, you’re the busiest throughout the entire year. Even so, you still thought about her feelings and took the time to arrange this wedding."
Adrian smiled faintly. Reaching out, he gently tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her small ear before saying,
"Even if I were suddenly handed an entire world to govern, I would still make time for you and the others. I can stand strong and move forward with certainty because I know all of you are standing behind me, always ready to support me."
Annabelle’s smile blossomed.
Her Darling, despite being strong enough to shoulder everything himself, never failed to remind them how important they were to him. It made her fall in love with him all over again.
"Miss Annabelle."
A voice called from outside.
Annabelle turned to see a woman holding a red ribbon.
"Could you show me how to tie this?"
She nodded before looking back at Adrian.
"Relax and get changed. No more running around."
Adrian nodded, watching as she stepped outside and quietly closed the door behind her.
Letting out a sigh, he pulled over a chair and sat down.
His suit had already been prepared for the occasion.
It wasn’t anything overly extravagant, but it had been tailor-made just for him.
His gaze drifted toward the mirror across the room.
"I probably should have taken better care of my face," he muttered.
It wasn’t that he looked ugly. If anything, all the overworking had simply left him looking a little pale.
[You look the same as ever, Host.]
The system’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
Adrian grinned.
"And how do I look?"
[Plain.]
"..."
So cold.
A moment later, another notification appeared.
[Host, your request to bring the listed individuals into this world has been rejected for the reasons stated previously.]
Adrian let out a quiet sigh of disappointment.
He had casually asked the system if he could invite a few people, like Valor, Scarlet, Raven, and Dark Knight, to the celebration.
They were the closest thing he had to friends, so he figured it was worth asking.
Unfortunately, the system remained as inflexible as ever.
"Not even Raven?"
[Aside from the fact that Host Raven has someone she needs to look after, your world is currently under close scrutiny regarding interworld transfers. Please refrain from making such risky requests, Host.]
Adrian nodded.
"I understand. Sorry."
He should have been more mindful.
The deities had been keeping this world under constant observation for quite some time now. They had even gone as far as forcing their will upon Annabelle and Elana recently.
Thankfully, Adrian had already given them a way to alert him whenever something unusual happened. If they ever felt strange or noticed their control over magic slipping, they would contact him immediately without hesitation.
"I just hope she doesn’t get upset."
Naturally, he had informed Raven about the wedding. She deserved to know.
The moment she heard the news, she sounded genuinely excited to attend. Unfortunately, the system rejected any request for an interworld transfer without hesitation.
Shaking his head, Adrian pushed the matter aside and decided to freshen up.
The priest had likely arrived by now, and later that evening, there would be a small dinner with the people closest to them.
He stepped into the bathroom, washed his face, and brushed his teeth.
Afterward, he took out the clothes he had prepared.
A neatly tailored black suit.
Simple, elegant, and perfect for the occasion.
He changed into it before slipping on a matching pair of polished black shoes.
"Hmm... should I?"
He stared at the empty breast pocket, wondering whether to tuck a flower into it.
After a moment’s thought, he did.
It looked slightly out of place, but it suited the occasion well enough.
Once everything was in place, Adrian took a deep breath.
"Alright... it’s time."
....
The hall had been transformed into a place of quiet elegance.
Warm golden lights hung from the ceiling, bathing the entire venue in a soft glow.
White curtains draped along the walls, their gentle folds broken only by carefully arranged flower decorations.
There was no excessive luxury or overwhelming display of wealth. Everything had been arranged with simple taste, creating an atmosphere that felt warm rather than extravagant.
Rows of polished wooden chairs faced the stage, each decorated with a small white ribbon tied neatly around the backrest.
Fresh flowers lined the aisle leading to the front, adding just enough color without drawing attention away from the ceremony itself.
At the end of the aisle stood a modest stage raised only slightly above the ground.
A floral arch of white roses, pale pink blossoms, and green vines framed its center, while delicate curtains flowed gently behind it.
A pair of elegant chairs rested off to one side, reserved for the bride and groom after the ceremony.
The priest quietly arranged the final items on the ceremonial table before stepping back with a satisfied nod.
One by one, guests filled the hall.
They were the people from the academy and some from Umbral.
Adrian spotted Jean as well, seated near the front with a small smile on her face as she nodded at him.
Adrian nodded back in response, his own lips curved too.
Soft conversations blended together into a pleasant murmur as people greeted one another. Some admired the decorations, while others exchanged stories as they waited for the ceremony to begin.
Near the entrance, Annabelle moved from one corner of the hall to another, making sure every last detail was in place. Every ribbon was straight, every flower properly arranged, and every guest comfortably seated.
Only after confirming everything was ready did she finally allow herself to relax.
A pleasant silence gradually settled over the hall.
The decorations were complete.
The guests had arrived.
The priest stood ready.
All that remained... was for the bride to arrive.
And soon, the music began to play as the door opened, revealing a sight that had Adrian nearly fall on the nearby chair.
The grand hall fell into a gentle silence, except for the music, as the doors slowly opened.
Every conversation came to an abrupt halt.
Ariana stepped inside.
Dressed in a pristine white wedding gown that flowed gracefully behind her, she walked at an unhurried pace down the flower-lined aisle.
The delicate lace shimmered beneath the warm lights, while the long veil resting over her silver hair gave her an almost ethereal elegance.
Her hands were lightly clasped before her, and though a hint of nervousness lingered in her eyes, the smile on her face was impossible to hide.
Ruby was just beside her, smiling as she glanced at Adrian before keeping her focus on her friend.
One step after another, she made her way toward the stage.
Admiring gazes followed her from every direction.
Some smiled warmly, others watched in quiet amazement, while a few couldn’t help but whisper to the person beside them about how beautiful the bride looked.
Even those who had seen Ariana countless times found themselves stunned, and that included the groom too.
Today, she wasn’t the capable woman they had always known.
She was simply a bride, radiant enough to leave the entire hall in silence.
At the end of the aisle, Adrian stood waiting.
The moment their eyes met, every trace of nervousness on Ariana’s face melted away, replaced by a smile that was brighter than anything else in the room.
It was finally about to happen.
