Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Counter-kill
"Hm? Ke Xin, what’s wrong?"
Wang Lei looked at Zhou Kexin with concern.
Zhou Kexin shook her head and said helplessly,
"It’s no good. My dad specifically told me to make sure this guy finds a job. If I can’t make it happen, he’ll probably get angry."
Zhou Kexin didn’t want Qin Tuo in her company in a million years, but the thought of having to answer to her dad put her in a difficult position.
Wang Lei frowned as well, but then an idea suddenly struck him.
"Don’t worry, it’s no big deal. Didn’t you just tell me that kid is an ex-con?"
Zhou Kexin nodded.
"Yes, he’s an ex-con. What about it?"
Wang Lei smiled mysteriously.
"That makes it simple. I’ll just have a word with the interviewer and have them reject him using that as the reason!"
"Of course! Why didn’t I think of that?"
Zhou Kexin clapped her hands in approval, but then her brow furrowed again, her face falling.
"Now what’s wrong?"
Wang Lei asked, exasperated.
Zhou Kexin said worriedly,
"But... won’t my dad get suspicious?"
Wang Lei gave a scornful laugh and said confidently,
"Don’t worry. I’ll talk to the interviewer in private, offer him a little something. Afterward, this will have nothing to do with us, and you can report back to your dad with a clear conscience."
Hearing this, Zhou Kexin was finally able to relax.
Meanwhile, Qin Tuo, who had only just reached the company entrance, pricked up his ears and overheard their entire conversation clearly.
’Heh, so that’s their little scheme, is it?’
Qin Tuo didn’t pay it too much mind.
Entering the company, he saw that the decor was quite impressive. It was clear that Chen Man Ni indeed ran this company in an orderly and efficient manner.
When he reached the floor where the interviews were being held, a staff member walked over.
"Sir, who are you?"
the staff member asked.
Qin Tuo smiled.
"Hello, I’m here for an interview today."
The staff member looked Qin Tuo up and down, and his brow furrowed.
Without a doubt, Qin Tuo’s clothes looked rather shabby.
"Alright, follow me!"
The staff member, his face expressionless, led Qin Tuo into the interview room.
There was still one person being interviewed ahead of Qin Tuo.
A few moments later, this person walked out, beaming with delight.
"Haha, I finally got into Mani Daily Chemicals Co., Ltd.! This is great! I have to go celebrate tonight!"
Qin Tuo couldn’t help but smile. ’It seems Chen Man Ni’s company is quite popular! Look how excited he is after a successful interview.’
"Next..."
It was Qin Tuo’s turn to go in.
He walked in and saw that, besides a main interviewer, Wang Lei was sitting right beside him.
Wang Lei’s face was cold and indifferent, but internally he was gloating.
’Kid, let’s see how you make a fool of yourself today!’
He had already planned to have the interviewer thoroughly humiliate Qin Tuo.
"Hello, sir. I’m here for the interview."
Qin Tuo followed procedure and properly handed over his resume.
The interviewer took the resume with a blank expression and glanced at it casually.
Wang Lei, sitting beside him, didn’t even bother to look at the resume.
He didn’t need to; Zhou Kexin had already told him everything about Qin Tuo’s background in great detail.
At first, the interviewer’s face was expressionless, but as he read, his brow gradually furrowed, and a hint of gravity appeared.
Then he slowly put down the resume, his expression now quite ugly.
Seeing this, Qin Tuo instantly understood what was happening.
Sure enough, the interviewer immediately shot him down:
"Young man, you’re Qin Tuo? You’ve been to prison?"
Qin Tuo said helplessly,
"I was in prison for two years, but I was framed. You can look into it."
Wang Lei, at the side, immediately let out a cold sneer.
"Heh, prison is prison. What’s there to be framed about? It’s a stain that will follow you for the rest of your life."
Qin Tuo said nothing, not bothering to stoop to Wang Lei’s level.
The interviewer slowly exhaled and stated flatly,
"Since you’ve been to prison, I’m sorry, but our company won’t be hiring you."
However, Qin Tuo deliberately retorted,
"And why is that? Do people who have been to prison not need to earn a living?"
Wang Lei watched Qin Tuo’s apparent struggle with a cold sneer, feeling extremely smug.
The interviewer, on the other hand, said with a grim face,
"Young man, stop making a scene. In my experience, no one who’s been to prison is a good person. What if hiring you brings bad luck to our company!"
Qin Tuo countered,
"Sir, you may be the interviewer, but what you’re saying is completely baseless."
The interviewer was also annoyed by Qin Tuo’s persistent attitude. His eyebrows shot up as he said coldly,
"Kid, just looking at you, I can tell you’re trouble. I’m telling you right now, there is no way you will ever join our company!"
Wang Lei immediately chimed in with a cold laugh,
"Young man, you need to face reality. I’ve seen plenty of people like you—no skills, but a huge temper. Don’t worry, society will beat you into shape eventually."
Watching these two play off each other, how could Qin Tuo not know of their insidious thoughts?
Suddenly, Qin Tuo stared intently at the interviewer, giving him a good look.
"Kid, what are you looking at?"
Being stared at like that by Qin Tuo, the interviewer felt a surge of shame and anger.
Qin Tuo suddenly laughed, his laughter filled with contempt and ridicule.
This time, the interviewer became inexplicably furious.
Just as he was about to call security to throw him out, Qin Tuo suddenly spoke:
"If you say I’m not a good person, then from what I see, you’re even worse!"
"What? Kid, what are you talking about!"
The interviewer was so angry he slammed his hands on the table and shot to his feet.
’He was a respectable interviewer for a publicly listed company! When had he ever been insulted like this?’
’Every single young person who interviewed here had been nothing but deferential to him.’
Wang Lei’s tone also turned grim.
"Young man, you’re slandering someone. If you don’t explain yourself clearly today, don’t even think about walking out that door."
Qin Tuo chuckled. He wasn’t one to be easily intimidated.
He said with perfect composure,
"Take a look at your own face in the mirror. Then you’ll understand what I’m saying."
’Huh? Look in a mirror? What does he mean?’
The interviewer, looking foolish, actually took out a mirror from his drawer and looked at himself carefully.
Staring at his reflection, the interviewer tilted his head from side to side, but he didn’t see anything wrong.
Qin Tuo sneered and said,
"Your eyes are puffy, your complexion is sallow and swollen, and your voice lacks strength. It’s obvious you overindulge regularly. I guess you must frequent brothels, huh?"
"What? Kid, don’t you spew such nonsense here!"
The interviewer immediately started cursing in anger.
