Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Not Giving Face
Still, he was reluctant to give up. After all, Zhou Kexin had been the one to arrange the introduction.
So he asked,
"Xiaoqian, how do you know?"
Zhang Xiaoqian rolled her eyes and said irritably,
"That little vixen is my roommate. How could I not know all about her? I just saw her downstairs a moment ago. If you don’t believe me, you’ll see for yourself soon enough!"
Upon hearing this, Wu Liang fell into a brief silence.
Zhang Xiaoqian’s words had made him lose face, and for a moment, he didn’t know what to say.
Seeing this, the girls gathered around also chimed in, adding fuel to the fire.
"Senior Wu, that Han Zilin is just a girl from an ordinary family. Her background is nothing special—she only has her mother. How could she possibly be worthy of you!"
"Exactly! Senior Wu, high-quality men like you are so rare these days. Is Han Zilin even worthy of you?"
"Senior Wu, I’ve had my eye on you for a long time. Can I get your number?"
However, Wu Liang clearly paid no mind to these girls’ forwardness and enthusiasm.
He frowned, feeling extremely annoyed.
’Sigh, what was Zhou Kexin thinking? Why would she introduce me to someone who already has a boyfriend!’
Wu Liang thought, thoroughly dejected.
The moment he first saw Han Zilin’s photo, he had fallen for the girl.
So, hearing this news now, he felt utterly crestfallen.
The banquet was starting, and students were taking their seats.
Still, many people crowded around Wu Liang, unwilling to leave, hoping for a chance to suck up to him later.
Just then, Qin Tuo and his two companions walked in.
Many people immediately noticed the trio, their expressions turning strange.
Wu Liang noticed them too, his gaze landing on Han Zilin from across the room.
That one glance was all it took for his heart to start pounding wildly.
’My God, this Han Zilin... she’s even more beautiful in person than in her photos!’
Wu Liang’s heart hammered in his chest.
He had seen countless beautiful girls in his life, but none were quite like Han Zilin.
It wasn’t just her looks; she possessed a unique, captivating aura that was simply irresistible.
When his gaze fell upon Qin Tuo, however, his expression instantly turned hostile.
’Oh? And who is this punk?’
Wu Liang frowned. Recalling Zhang Xiaoqian’s words, a sense of animosity welled up inside him.
By now, many people at the banquet had started pointing and whispering about the trio.
"Look, that’s Han Zilin! I think she’s our department’s belle!"
"Department belle? Well, you have to admit, she is gorgeous."
"Who’s the guy next to her? Is that her boyfriend?"
Hearing the murmurs, Qin Tuo grinned and teased,
"Zilin, it looks like you’re quite the celebrity at school!"
Han Zilin’s face flushed slightly. She lowered her head, a little embarrassed.
"Brother Tu, don’t tease me. I’m not popular at all!"
Qin Tuo chuckled.
"See? All these people are complimenting your looks. Are they all just spouting nonsense?"
Hearing Qin Tuo’s praise filled Han Zilin’s heart with a honey-like sweetness.
Xu Ting, who was beside them, chimed in with more praise.
"You bet! Zilin is our department’s belle. She has so many admirers that the line would stretch from here to the suburbs and back."
Qin Tuo nodded.
"Haha, I can imagine. Zilin is as beautiful as a goddess, after all!"
Their back-and-forth teasing made Han Zilin blush beet red.
The three of them found an empty table and sat down. Moments later, Wu Liang quickly walked over.
"Hi, there. You must be Han Zilin, right?"
Wu Liang did his best to put on a friendly smile.
But Han Zilin seemed frightened, timidly hiding behind Qin Tuo.
She had a gut feeling that this Wu Liang was up to no good.
Seeing this, Wu Liang felt a surge of displeasure, and his expression darkened.
He waved his hand.
"Waiter, two glasses of champagne!"
A waiter quickly came over with two glasses of champagne.
Wu Liang smiled faintly, putting on a gentlemanly air as he personally offered a glass to Han Zilin.
"The beautiful Miss Han, may I have the honor of sharing the first drink of the evening with you?"
Han Zilin, however, simply shook her head.
’She won’t even accept the drink?’
At this, many people in the crowd started to jeer.
"Han Zilin, aren’t you putting on airs? Senior Wu himself is offering you a toast and you won’t even accept it?"
"Exactly! You think way too highly of yourself. Who do you think you are?"
Listening to their words, Han Zilin’s face burned with embarrassment.
Wu Liang was getting angry now too. He said, his gaze turning cold,
"Han Zilin, you’re not even going to show me this little bit of respect?"
Hearing the tone in his voice, everyone knew he was genuinely angry, and they began to watch with schadenfreude.
The other girls, in particular, were ecstatic, realizing this might be their chance.
Qin Tuo couldn’t watch any longer. He said flatly,
"Sorry, Zilin doesn’t drink. You should find someone else."
Wu Liang frowned and asked,
"Oh? And who are you? Do you go to our school?"
He racked his brain, trying to recall if he had ever seen this Qin Tuo character before.
But Qin Tuo just shook his head.
"No, I’m just here with Zilin."
Instantly, a murmur went through the surrounding students.
Zhang Xiaoqian immediately started mocking him.
"Hey, kid! Don’t you see what kind of event this is? You’ve got some nerve coming here to freeload a meal!"
A group of students began to clamor angrily.
"Damn it, this is an alumni party hosted by Senior Wu. How did some random nobody sneak in?"
"Hah! So he’s not even from our school, and he still dares to talk so arrogantly. Someone call security and have him thrown out."
Wu Liang’s gaze turned vicious. He was about to call security to throw the man out.
Seeing this, Han Zilin quickly stepped forward to apologize.
"I’m sorry, Senior Wu, we didn’t mean to. If we’re really bothering you, we’ll leave right now."
But Wu Liang wasn’t happy to hear that.
He was deeply captivated by Han Zilin’s beauty. How could he possibly bear to let her leave?
Seeing that Han Zilin was actually about to leave, Wu Liang quickly tried to make her stay.
"Han Zilin, you should stay. This guy can go wherever the hell he wants!"
But Han Zilin shook her head firmly.
"No! I came with Brother Tu, so of course, I’ll leave with him too!"
At this, Wu Liang could only shake his head helplessly.
"Fine, then you can both stay..."
But when Wu Liang turned to look at Qin Tuo, he added icily,
"This is our alumni party, after all. I’m only covering the expenses for fellow alumni. As for him... he’s just an outsider. He’ll have to pay for himself!"
Han Zilin immediately wanted to refuse.
After all, this wasn’t the kind of place they could afford.
Qin Tuo, however, just smiled and readily agreed.
