Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Hidden Killing Intent

The President’s Office.

President Zhang was on the phone, and angry shouts periodically erupted from the other end of the line.

With a grim expression, President Zhang didn’t dare utter a single word of rebuttal.

After hanging up, President Zhang was in the foulest of moods.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!"

Wang Lei gently pushed open the door and walked into the office.

He was about to give his report when he suddenly noticed a red mark on President Zhang’s face.

"Oh, President Zhang, what happened to your face?"

President Zhang’s expression immediately darkened as he said coldly,

"Is that any of your business?"

Hearing President Zhang’s tone, Wang Lei immediately realized he had misspoken.

He quickly tried to cover his tracks by changing the subject.

"President Zhang, this Qin Tuo is something else. He actually managed to collect all the outstanding debts in a single day. Isn’t that bizarre?"

"Oh? He collected all those old, unpaid accounts in a single day?"

President Zhang was stunned.

He knew better than anyone just how difficult those accounts were to collect.

Wang Lei clutched his chest and said with lingering fear,

"President Zhang, I’m on pins and needles here. With that kid Qin Tuo’s performance, what if Chairman Chen decides to promote him one day? Will I even be able to hold on to my position as Sales Manager?"

He put on a pitiful expression, hoping President Zhang would protect his position.

President Zhang said,

"Calm down. Let me ask you, don’t you still have that unresolved project with Qingmei Company?"

Wang Lei paused for a moment, then nodded.

"That’s right. I’ve been on that project for two months, but we’ve been at a standstill over the price."

He let out a long sigh as he spoke.

He knew that if he could close this deal, his performance metrics would see a massive boost.

Therefore, out of selfish motives, Wang Lei had put his girlfriend, Zhou Kexin, in charge of the project, hoping she could pocket the lucrative commission.

Then, President Zhang said in a low voice,

"Wang Lei, starting today, I want you to hand this project over to Qin Tuo!"

Wang Lei’s face fell, and he quickly shot back,

"President Zhang, why? The project has been progressing steadily! If you let that kid Qin Tuo take over, he’ll just ruin everything!"

Of course, President Zhang knew what Wang Lei was thinking and let out a cold sneer.

"You’re overthinking it. Qingmei Company is a Zhao Family enterprise, and the young master of the Zhao Family is the one who stole Qin Tuo’s fiancée. How could they possibly let Qin Tuo succeed?"

Only then did Wang Lei understand President Zhang’s brilliant scheme, a flash of delight crossing his eyes.

President Zhang added,

"When the negotiations for this project inevitably collapse, will the company lack a reason to get rid of a guy like Qin Tuo?"

Wang Lei’s eyes lit up, and he nodded eagerly in agreement.

"Hahaha, President Zhang, you really are a genius!"

He followed this with a torrent of sycophantic praise.

"Alright, alright, that’s enough nonsense. Now go get it done!"

President Zhang, clearly annoyed, waved his hand dismissively, unwilling to say more.

Wang Lei quickly and respectfully backed out of the office.

Then, Wang Lei marched directly to the sales department and found Qin Tuo.

"Qin Tuo, I have a task for you!"

Wang Lei commanded dryly.

Without even glancing at him, Qin Tuo waved a dismissive hand.

"Sorry, I’m busy. Find someone else."

Wang Lei flew into a rage and cursed,

"You ungrateful punk! You’ve gotten so full of yourself that you dare to openly refuse an assignment from your manager?"

The others nearby quickly chimed in, piling on Qin Tuo.

"You just got incredibly lucky you weren’t fired today, and now you’re giving the manager attitude?"

"Exactly! Manager Wang is doing you a favor by even giving you a task. Otherwise, he wouldn’t waste his breath on you."

Wang Lei warned Qin Tuo once more.

"I’ll ask you one last time: are you going to do it or not?"

Qin Tuo replied coolly,

"My work for the day is done. I don’t have time for anything else."

Wang Lei quickly retorted,

"In that case, you can do it tomorrow! I’m assigning you a project, and you have to close the deal. You know the consequences if you don’t!"

With that, he slammed the project file down in front of Qin Tuo.

Before Qin Tuo could even look, Zhou Kexin, who was standing nearby, glanced at the file and became frantic.

"Wang Lei, what’s going on? I’ve been the one handling the Qingmei Company project. Why are you giving it to Qin Tuo?"

She was frantic, having been eagerly looking forward to completing the project and receiving the hefty commission.

The last thing she wanted was for Qin Tuo to snatch this prize that was practically hers.

But Wang Lei quickly shot Zhou Kexin a look, signaling her to keep quiet.

Seeing Wang Lei’s expression, Zhou Kexin immediately realized there was a scheme afoot and quickly shut her mouth.

Seeing Qin Tuo’s silence, Wang Lei pressed on,

"So, Qin Tuo? Are you going to take on this project or not? If you don’t, you can go ahead and write your letter of resignation!"

Hearing this, Zhou Kexin was startled. Only then did she understand that this project was a trap.

Wang Lei sneered again.

"But just so you know, if you fail to close the deal, you’ll be fired too!"

Qin Tuo, completely unfazed by Wang Lei’s threats, casually opened the file and glanced through it.

When he saw the name "Qingmei Company," a smile spread across his face.

He knew this was one of the Zhao Family’s businesses.

He instantly understood Wang Lei’s pathetic, sinister little scheme.

Putting down the file, Qin Tuo nodded and said,

"Fine. I’ve decided. I’ll take the project."

Seeing Qin Tuo agree, Wang Lei was inwardly ecstatic.

But fearing he might change his mind, he quickly pressed him.

"In that case, give me a firm deadline. When exactly can you close this deal?"

Without a moment’s thought, Qin Tuo said casually,

"It won’t take long. I’ll have it done by tomorrow."

Hearing this, a crooked grin spread across Wang Lei’s face.

’He’s digging his own grave,’ he thought. ’Can’t blame anyone but himself!’

Zhou Kexin, meanwhile, sneered and taunted,

"You’re just full of hot air, Qin Tuo. I’ve been working on this project for two months and couldn’t close it, and you think you can handle it in a single day? Who do you think you are, some kind of god?"

Everyone else also thought Qin Tuo was just bragging, and they all began to chime in with sarcastic comments.

"He’s so full of himself. Let’s all just wait and see him get kicked out of the company tomorrow!"

"Heh, does he think he can skate by on luck forever? This time, I bet he won’t even know what hit him!"

Seeing so many people kicking Qin Tuo while he was down, Wang Lei, afraid Qin Tuo might change his mind, quickly sealed the deal.

"Alright, it’s settled! If I don’t see a signed contract by tomorrow, you can pack your things and get the hell out of this company!"

With that, Wang Lei returned to his office, looking immensely satisfied.

Seeing this, Zhou Kexin hurried after him.
