Chapter 483: Chapter 483: I’m Willing to Help You 4
She knew this feeling of utter isolation. Even though she’d imagined it, even experienced it before, she couldn’t help the chill that crept into her heart...
Annabelle Linton took a breath and walked down the street in the downpour, the rain soaking her to the bone.
She walked on for what felt like an eternity until her vision began to blur. A wave of dizziness washed over her, and she finally collapsed by the side of the road...
...
However fiercely the storm raged outside, it meant nothing to the people indoors.
「BV Club.」
Xylas Shepherd watched the lunatic at the pool table, the corner of his mouth twitching. He secretly nudged Nathaniel Locke. "Has he lost his mind? I’ve never fucking seen anyone play pool like it’s baseball!"
CRACK—
Leona Grant sent another ball flying off the table with his cue, and it smashed onto the floor.
It chipped the expensive white marble floor, and Xylas couldn’t help but imagine it. ’What would happen if that hit someone in the head?’
He couldn’t help but shudder.
"Leona, did you swallow a stick of dynamite?" Xylas Shepherd asked warily, walking over with his cue.
Leona Grant braced his hands on the pool table, panting with frustration. ’What the hell is wrong with me?’
Nathaniel Locke casually pointed at the table with his cue, leaning coolly against it. A half-smile played on his lips as he said, "I doubt it’s dynamite. More like he forgot his meds."
PFFT—
Xylas burst out laughing.
Leona Grant’s expression turned grim. He shot them a glare sharp enough to cut. "Nobody will think you’re mutes if you just shut up."
"Tch." Nathaniel Locke gave him a meaningful look and added nonchalantly, "Aren’t you afraid of making yourself sick holding all that in? Even a cornered rabbit will bite. Aren’t you worried this will backfire on you?"
Leona Grant’s expression changed instantly. He dropped his cue and strode toward the service area.
Xylas watched him go, completely bewildered. "What’s this about a rabbit? What’s gotten into Leona?"
THUMP—
Sinking a ball in one shot, Nathaniel Locke coolly lined up the next. "Beats me," he said lightly. "It’s not like him acting crazy is anything new."
Xylas: "True that."
’He hasn’t been right ever since Annabelle Linton came into the picture.’
Leona Grant stormed into the service area and roared, "Chase!"
Chase scurried over, holding a towel and a drink. "Sir."
"It’s been days since I gave you that task. Why haven’t I heard anything? Do you have a fucking death wish?" Leona Grant glared at Chase, his brows knitted.
Chase wiped the sweat from his brow and forced himself to answer. "Sir, I carried out your orders immediately. It’s just... Miss Linton still hasn’t contacted us..."
CRASH—
Leona Grant kicked over a nearby television and sound system, snarling, "She *still* hasn’t made contact?!"
’Four days. It’s been four whole days!’
’Her precious little brother has been rotting in jail for four days, and the deadline is tomorrow! Why hasn’t that damn woman come to me yet?!’
’She’s the one who should be panicking, so how did it end up being me?!’
’This is outrageous! Completely outrageous!’
Remembering what Nathaniel Locke had just said, a sense of urgency gripped Leona Grant. "Is someone helping her behind my back? Or did she already handle it?"
’But that’s impossible. I’m the one who gave the order...’
Leona Grant’s expression faltered. ’Could it be? In the last four days, did Ryan Linton somehow find a way out of this mess himself?’
It was a case of "love me, love my dog." Because Leona Grant was fond of Annabelle Linton, he had naturally taken an interest in Ryan Linton.
He had reviewed Ryan Linton’s past projects and found them quite impressive. If not for this current mess, the company he was founding would have undoubtedly gotten off the ground.
